The inspiration for this week's chat thread title is a comment by Daniel in last week's chat thread.

BTW, every time I open a thread and see that cute little grinning boy, I smile! Brightens my day.

LeighAnn, that is SOOOO cool that you discovered a card-maker in the family. Did you feel a teeeeeny bit miffed, though, as you're the card-maker in the family - I would. But mostly it would be really fun.

Yes, I've checked out the CHA challenges - I made a list of about 4 I might have a go at, but honestly I can't get motivated yet - they're not very exciting, are they? And it's a pain that you can't combine them (although I can see why).

Happy "half-way through January" crafting, everyone!

Happy Monday all! Thanks for starting the chat, Christin. And I'm looking forward to your challenge!

Actually, it has been a rough Monday morning, lots of things going wrong. Hopefully the day will improve as it goes on.

I want to do a card or two today based on the 2Peas paid class I am taking, but I also do not have a plan for dinner yet and will be spending the afternoon volunteering at school.

I am considering taking my crafty budget for the next bit and spending it on another online class. I feel like maybe I will use up some of my supplies this way and learn something. However, I am almost out of pretty much every type of adhesive I use...

Walking the track during DS's swim lesson worked well and I felt it more than I thought I would. There is a window there that looks over the pool so I could still keep tabs. He does not like swim lessons and is struggling with real swimming even though he is good at other sports. Not sure what is going on, but he has to learn. A new teacher this time, maybe that will help...

Sometime soon, I should be getting my 1 year anniversary button. Can't remember exactly when I joined.

Daniel has an interesting thread about "regularly scheduled" challenges.

Morning all!

Christin, you are funny! I was miffed a little that apparently she's been a stamper for years but never mentioned it because she thought no one would get it. And my mom and I both have been crafty since we've been able to sit upright!
And no Daniel, I don't think she's a pea. I should ask and if not, invite her to join our group.

Thanks for the reminder of the CHA challeges, Heidi mentioned it earlier last week and I forgot. I plan to check some out later.

Heidi, I hope your day gets better. I hate when my mornings get off to a bad start, kinda ruins the day. Maybe you need some retail craft therapy? That always makes me feel better.

Daniel, I hope you and your mom are feeling better.

Lots if great threads to check out. A hoppin board is a happy board!

I had a great crafty afternoon yesterday. I was able to make 4 Christmas cards for the Christmas all year challenge, I've almost finished my card for Heidi's photo challenge, I worked on some cards for Sarah's HA challenge and worked on my Feb tags! We were under tornado warnings and had torrential down pours so I stayed inside and crafted away.

Anyone watch the golden globes? I watched some, wow the speeches can be long! Did see some very pretty dresses and some not so pretty ones!

Well I'm off to run a couple errands, will check back later.

LOL, Christin! Talk about a 'day brightener'? Your weekly chat start is mine today! I still don't see 'the kid' in my avatar, but no prob.

Watched 'Downton' last nite. Won't spoil it for Christin, but it was gooood!!! I see Dame Maggie won a golden globe for her role. Hooray!

And thanks for a good challenge, Christin! I haven't looked @ the CHA challenges, but managed to snag a few badges so far.

Heidi.Hope today smooths out for you. We're doing ok, but not pushing ourselves with errands & such. Might do groceries tomorrow or wed. Both our appetites are just so-so & that doesn't help. Has it really only been 1 year for you? Seems like you & Christin have been StamPeas for lots longer.

Pug. Caught some bits of the Globes. Really enjoyed Jodi Foster's speech even tho' it was somewhat --& look who's talking!

Weather. Had late rain last nite. Melted more snow & it's sunny, but cooler today. Not gonna turn arctic, but colder next few days.

Food. See above.

Crafts. Glad I took a break on the mag submit. One element isn't working, but I have ideas to 'correct' that. Might play with it a bit today, but think I'll try to start on pieces for Heidi's 'photo' & Christin's 'sketch'. Don't believe I can (or want) to combine them. Might be able to combine both with Cindi's HA, tho'.

Have a good'un!

I started off today going to Wal-Mart in the rain. It is still warm here, but rainy. Will be cooling down quite a bit this week. I made 3 cards for the Christmas All Year challenge yesterday. I will try to make 2 more today. I have one more Christmas stamp that I bought right after Christmas that I haven't used. I am planning to have some fellow stampers come over on Wednesday to make Valentines for children in the hospitals in our area. A radio station here collects hand made cards to give to the kids on Valentine's Day. They have so many that participate that they now have gone to a nearby town to pass out the cards too! We will be doijng some techniques too for our own use too.

Cooking chili tonight. Hubby wants some to take hunting with him later in the week. Had t-bones from the grill last night.

Have a great day everyone!

Good evening everyone!

Busy weekend! Took a basket weaving class which was fun---but I never realized how the surroundings can influence an event. The place was dirty (floors and the tables), so it kinda took away from the learning--as if the event wasn't taken seriously by the business. I mean, if I was hosting an instructor, I would feel so rude if I didn't have a clean area at least for them to teach! But that's just me.... The instructor didn't seem to mind, so that is good. I did learn how to weave a basket though, so I plan on weaving some at home someday.

Was working on my February tag and didn't realize I had plate C instead of plate B in my Cuttlebug and it "ate" the top of my tag!! Now I have to do it over---so Kathy, it might be another day or so before I get to mail it--I'll PM you when I get to mail it!

Trying to finish up a birthday card that's for this weekend. Kinda "stuck"---you know when you create the center piece of the card and then you look at it and think "now what?! How am I going to make it the centerpiece now?!" well that is where I am with this card...

COLD day today! I think weather channel said the high today was 29 degrees! Tomorrow only 35 degrees maybe. Then it'll warm up later this week! Glad some of y'all have nice weather----oh but I do not envy your 100 degrees Christin!! Glad y'all are keeping cool though!

Oh I must have missed a few things with the end of last weeks chat thread----I need to go see who's a stamper in LeighAnn's family and check out the CHA challenges. I too haven't been motivated to do any---not sure I'll have time either this week. Has anyone been watching CHA?? I looked once last week at the "rumors" but haven't looked now that CHA is underway to see what's new to the market.

Tornado warnings LeighAnn!!! We get them here in the springtime, but I cannot imagine during the winter!!!

I hope your Monday improved Heidi! And I hope the Twopeas class will be fun to for you and you get alot out of it too!

Daniel, I hope the mag submit is working for you! You'll have to remind me--b/c I must have missed reading about it, though I looked--but what is this magazine submission you're talking about?

April, so nice that you're making cards for the kids! Great that your radio station participates and so cool that there are that many carfters in your area (and caring people)!!

Well that is probably long enough! and it's getting late---hope everyone has a great night!

LOL YC! Don't worry about mailing the tag... don't we have until the beginning of Feb?
I'm looking at the thermometer here and it's only 10 degrees. Most of our snow melted a few days ago, then it snowed again so we have a light cover on the ground, maybe an inch or two is all. Guess it's not going to melt at 10 degrees, lol. Every once in a while I miss Arizona's 100 degree weather, but not for long!
Christin and I got each other's Jan tags yesterday. I love mine! I'm sure she will post pics soon as will I.
Had boring hamburger helper lasagna for dinner last night, LOL. Was so not in the mood to cook. I've had this nasty cold... it's going away now but everyone says it comes back for a second round. Not looking forward to that.
Haven't done lots of crafting since I'm still unpacking boxes, hehehe.
What is this Downton Abbey you all are talking about? Sounds like it might be interesting.
Well, bowling today. Better go get ready!

Good morning. Another rough one here today. Different things went wrong this morning, but I am still hoping for a good day.

No, I didn't watch the Golden Globes, but I did see some coverage of it on the news, as well as the late night comedians making fun of people. Kathy, I am always surprised when people don't know what Downton Abbey is. It is a BBC show on PBS about an estate and it's fictional family in England both before and after WWI. It is an upstairs/downstairs show and has LOTS of drama. The third season just started. I would recommend renting the dvds and starting from the beginning. It is popular with both women and men.

I did go out to the craft store and purchased adhesives, an EK Success powder tool on clearance, and Tim Holtz scissors. Our "house" scissors barely cut anymore, and I have heard such good things about these that I bought them for the house, and on the side for crafting.

I am excited that I was picked to do the Valentine party at school and we agreed that I would take care of the craft station. I am going to do a fish made out of all hearts I saw on a website. I will need to precut everything since we will only have 10 minutes to do the craft. I think both boys and girls will like it!

Melissa, sorry to hear about your tag! I always wondered what the cuttlebug would do under that kind of pressure! It is good to hear how creative everyone has been lately. The most recent challenges and swaps have really been successful! I will be crafting today in between housework.

Good morning all,a little message boarding in between coming home from the pool and before I start on sorting/reorganizing project. Plan to take an hour this afternoon to do some cards. Have a package ready to go to OWH, but decided I wanted to start a collection of cards for myself - so I will have some at ready when I need one, instead of hurriedly making one at the last minute. I had not done this before - but think it is time I had a stash of general cards for myself.

We are still in deep cold for Utah. 3 degrees here and light flurries of snow. Perfect weather for getting things done at home.

Take care everyone

Good Morning All!

Looks like we're gonna have a good chat this week!

First off? My avatar (finally) switched for me without any assistance on my part. I still remember that shirt. It was white with blue & brown fish pattern. Very '50s & had a pair of matching brown shorts. My hair had just begun to turn from blonde to brown.

Looks like we're in for some winter weather here. Calling for mix starting tonight into Wed. Yuk. Figure Heidi will get some of this storm, too. We should have tried to hit the supermarket today, but mom's still getting a bit short-of-breath when she moves around a lot & my knee is still 'twingy'. So we're not going to push it. I can get milk & bread just down the block & we have stuff to make so we won't starve. I'm not real concerned about mom, but keeping an eye on her.

Pulled the stamps for my Feb. tag for Eager. Definitely can double it up with her color challenge. Haven't pulled anything for Christin's sketch, but have some ideas. Gonna take another look @ the sketch first.

Willy. Cool about the radio station & the valentines! Far as your weather? Definitely an unusual winter Down South this year.

LeighAnn. Ditto on your weather. Commented to mom that this seems to be the year for 'heavy' weather in the South. Seems like every few years the whole tornado thing visits down there rather than just the Spring. Hunker down, pal!

Melissa. Lol on the CB eating the tag. You need to feed it more often. Far as the 'stalled' card. Yep. Happens all the time--even when I have an idea where I'm going with a project. Fun, but can be frustrating, too. The 'mag' thing is for another group. Some (too few) are submitting to Stamper's Sampler as members of the club. Theme is 'friendship' & we're employing (mostly) stamps the site sponsor makes/carries.

Kathy. Hope you bowl a perfect game! Yeah. Lots of time to get Feb tags done. Most of us are just ahead of the game--which don't hurt!

Heidi. Congrats on being the V-Day 'Party Mom'! The heart fish sounds neat. Bet lots of the boys will make sharks--I would!

Best get along with the day. Think I'll do some laundry & wash some dishes.

Seeya later.

Brrrr. Sounds like everyone's got cold weather today! It's crazy to think it was 66 degrees a couple of days ago and now it's in the 20s!

Kathy, no shame in the hamburger helper! I use it on occasion too.

Melissa, that basket weaving class sounds fun except for the dirty part:thumbdown. Yuck! My great grandma used to weave baskets and my mom has several of her creations. Were you able to finish your basket?

LickeyAn, that's a great idea to start a stash of cards. I keep telling myself the same thing but I always wind up doing something last minute.

HowdyHeidi, boo on another bad day! Your valentines day party craft sounds like fun! And you won't be disappointed with the TH scissors. I mine!!! And have considered purchasing an extra pair!

Daniel, hope your mom feels better and your knee. This crazy weather doesn't help matters I'm sure.

Craft front, I did 4 Christmas/holiday cards for Cindi's challenge and got them uploaded yesterday. I have finished 2 cards for Heidi's photo inspiration challenge that I need to upload. I need to check out Chrisitn's sketch and Marshia's color challenge. Very excited about those!
I am loving all the challenges right now !! Keeps me motivated and happy.

Food front, taco salads for dinner.

Now that I'm starting to feel better, DS was up a ton last night. He's had a low grade fever, runny nose and general crankiness. I'm so over the sickies!!!!

Well, I'm off to get some work done so I can play with stamps and paper later. Have a good one!

Wow! It sounds really cold in a lot of places! We will be in the 60s today and tomorrow and then we will start having temps go down. Next week we won't get out of the 40s for the high.

I finished 2 more Christmas cards for the Christmas All Year challenge. This challenge will help me a lot! I usually send about 45 cards and make about 15 to sell.

Melissa, sorry about your tag. At least you didn't crack your c plate in half like I did! LOL! I had been cutting using Spellbinders dies and went to cut out something with the cuttlebug die and left the c plate in. That wasn't a good idea! Was going too fast and not thinking.

I am now getting ready to clean up the craft room for my stamping visitors tomorrow. I need to give them space to work! LOL!

Hope ya'll have a great day!

Hi everyone!

Cold day again---so it's soup tonight!! about to get started on making it!

LeighAnn---so neat that you found out someone else in your family stamps too! That was probably a shock! (well I guess it depends on how often you're able to visit with your cousins that is...)

I did finish my basket LeighAnn and placed it about my cabinets in the kitchen yesterday. Now that it's dried, I do not believe it would hold many of my veggies from the garden like I had planned---does not seem sturdy enough to hold the weight. So I really want to make another one that is sturdier. That is so neat that your grandmother basket weaved! AND that you still have some of the baskets!! Did she use the baskets she made for anything in particular?

April, I always feel like I am going to break the one Spellbinder I have used so far in my Cuttlebug! It comes out ok, but for some reason my "instinct" is that it'll come out broken or at least warped!!

Hope everyone feels better!--Daniel and your mom and LeighAnn DS!

Heidi, good luck with the Valentine cards with the kids! Sounds fun! What does your DS think of the card?

Ann, so good to see your still doing the pool! WTG! OO but that 3 degree temp is COLD!! I often wonder if I could survive in that cold of weather!

Yesterday I finished a book I checked out to read on the Nook I got for Christmas. I just finished "Alex and Me". Very interesting book about a woman's work with an African Grey Parrot named Alex. Super smart birds! Now starting "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle"---see how that one is...

May have gotten out of the rut of the birthday card I am working on---I'll see after super if I like what I chose thus far. Hoping to get a few things out of the way this week, so next week I can work on everyone's challenges!

Have a great night everyone!

Well I have three weeks to get the better part of my organization and pitching done - at least anything that would require me to be on the floor or on my knees.

Last Friday, I had a followup appointment with my orthopedist - had an MRI in December of my right knee and the results are still bone on bone, but in addition two medial meniscus tears, more arthritis and water on the knee. He suggested another arthroscope - had the first on that knee four years ago or an another total knee- this time on the right side. It has been 7 months since the one on the left. So decided better to do the total rather than have another surgery next year or so. Looks like I might miss out on another fest. Possible surgery dates are the 29th of Jan or the 4th of February. Least I know what to expect, what to pack and after I am released from the hospital will go to rehab center and won't have to cook, make my bed or clean up after my self. But of the pain at first.

So I will be madly doing floor sorting and cleaning and leave projects that I can do while sitting for then.

I have plenty of images to color and this time am going to craft right thru the home recovery.

That is my news for this afternoon.

Will get this craft room somewhat organized and floor cleaned in the next couple of weeks.

Hello Everyone! Boy, is it dreary today or what!? No snow or anything, just cold cold rain! I'm amazed I even got out of bed. Finally had a smooth morning. I've done the grocery shopping, so at least that is out of the way!

I survived another exercise class last night. It was mostly lifting weights this week, which I have never done before really.

Lickeyan, sorry to hear you will be having another surgery, but it sounds like you are planning to make the best of it. I send my best wishes for everything to go well.

LeighAnn, hope your little one is feeling better!
Melissa, I forgot to remark on your basketweaving class. Sounds fun! How did you find it? Also, DS doesn't know about the craft yet, but I may use him for my guinea pig to make sure it goes fast enough.
Daniel, do you have snow and how is your magazine submission going?

I was blown away by all the January tags! Can't wait to start seeing the February ones! I may have a chance to try Christin's sketch today.

Lickey. Bless you! Don't envy you & your knees, but glad to hear you're making some progress.

Melissa. LOL on the basket. I'm sure your next will have Longaberger knocking on your door to design some for them. Years ago I learned to do rag-wrapping to make baskets. I even taught a few classes where we replaced the 'rags' with ribbon. Think I actually remember bits of how to do it.

We missed getting the wintery mix--all snow & about 3". Neighbor cleaned our walk--Bless 'em! Streets look clear, but we're gonna hold off on grocery shopping 'til friday. Doing burgers & potato soup for our supper today.

Making real progress on my Feb tag for Marshia & combining it with her color challenge. Hope to mail by friday.

Still in the thinking stage for Christin's sketch, but may get that started today. We'll see. Guess first step is to get off the 'puter. So have a good'un!

Hi everyone!

Ann, sounds like you are prepared for the next surgery---mentally and craft-waise! Good for you!! That should really help this second time--I'm sorry you have to do it again, but I know it'll help you in the long run!

Heidi, I happened upon the class when I was searching online for what art displays were around town and I saw this one place had classes. They have pottery, glass, creative writing, and a few others in addition to this one time basketweaving class. I was also signed up for a hand quilting class, but I was the only one that signed up so they cancelled it---but that's ok! Maybe another time...

Daniel, I've often thought about making a basket out of fabric---I've seen the ones you are talking about and they can become quite heavy! Your idea of using ribbon!!---that sounds great!!--does that make them any lighter do you think? I had to look up who "Longaberger" was!---or "is" rather....

Suppose to be warmer today (in the 50s)--but by the looks of the sky, doesn't look like it'll get too warm!---probably won't get out of the 40s. Last night supper was yummy!! Just made a simple pork, carrot, green beans, and peas soup and I baked Jewel Yams in the oven to eat on the side---they were SO YUMMY!!!! That's what I'm about to go heat up for lunch!

Then I am crafting the rest of the day! Decided the BG I picked for the birthday card I am working on WILL work so I'll put that together and start redoing my Feb tag. Going to heat up my craft room to warm and cozy while card making with my warm chicory root tea on the side---yeah!!!

Hope everyone else has just as nice of a day!

Brrr! Another cold one here too! We have had off and on bouts of freezing rain. Just a nasty yucky day! At least snow is pretty to look at!

My little guy is sick. I can't complain since this is his first ever cold! I just hope it passes quickly.

Stampwilly, I'm enjoying making the Christmas cards too! I've enjoyed pulling out stamps I've either never used or barely used before.

Melissa, my great grandma made lots of different sizes of baskets. My mom has a bread basket, one really large one that she uses for gathering veggies from the garden and some tiny ones for dolls that she made for my mom when she was a little girl. . They're all so well made and in great condition. You should upload a pic of your creation!

Daniel, my mom and mother in law have made several rag and ribbon baskets back in the day! They're so pretty!

LickeyAn, so sorry about your knee. Will you be able to do any stamping or coloring while you recover?

Heidi, good for you on the workouts! I've done some weight lifting classes before and they weren't as bad as I thought. Definitely not my favorite though!
I've enjoyed seeing the January tags too! Love how different they all are. So much talent on this board

Craft front, I've been on a roll lately! I still need to charge my camera and take some pics to upload. I hope to play some a little later tonight once I get some work done.

I'm making chicken pasta for dinner tonight. One of our favorites. It's especially good on a freezing day like today! We will have a salad and garlic bread to go with it.

Well I'm gonna check on some more threads and get some work done. Stay Warm!

Made the tater soup & mom tasted it. She says it good, so I turned it off--don't want the spuds to turn to mush. Just have to make her a burger & there's time.

Came back to check Christin's card sketch & make a copy to work from.

Heidi. We posted about the same time, but yeah we got snow--no sleet or icey rain (glad!). I've set the mag piece aside for the moment. I'll get back to it, but not gonna drive myself crazy (crazier) over it. It'll get done in my own good time.

About the rag-wrapping basketry... It uses a coil technique--like some baskets. Used to be you could buy the 'core' to wrap. Not sure if that's still true, but rope works. What was fun about doing it with ribbon as the 'wrap' is that we had lots of partial rolls on the store's shelves & it was amazing to see how really odd (to me) colors & patterns worked when the basket was done. Hmmm. Bet you could do this with plastic bags for the wrap & plastic rope for the core...

Best get back to working on my crafts. Later, y'all!

Sounds like everyone is so busy! I am in bed watching tv for the second day in a row. Bowling was a bust and just made me so tired! But I was having computer withdrawals so I am sitting here with my laptop getting cold germs all over it. hehehe.
All the food sounds so yummy and I don't feel like cooking! And it seems all the daytime shows I never watch are all about food.
I looked for Downton Abbey and it isn't playing in our area so I guess I'm out of luck. I'll have to check Netflix for it.
I got a basket weaved with banana leaves in Hawaii and loved it. Can't find it now, it musta got lost in one of my old moves.
Looks like it just started snowing a bit. I am thinking about letting the kid take my car to work today. It would be her first alone trip but if it's snowing.... hmmmm
Gotta work tomorrow so hoping I can at least breath through my nose! LOL

Bless you, Kathy! About 'Downton'? It's a TV show on PBS--not a movie. Most stations run episodes on sunday nite.

Kathy, hope you feel better soon! Sounds like you were able to get some rest today!

Daniel, I've been meaning to ask,Will you be able to share your magazine piece with us?
I've never submitted anything to a magazine before, I think it would make me over think things and create a big mess!

I ended up making homemade chicken Alfredo instead tonight. Hubs said it was good but I still don't have much of an appetite.

We rented a movie so not sure if I will get to do much crafting tonight. I may color some images while we watch. Have a good night!

Hard to believe it is the middle of the week and the first time I've checked in on this thread.
Can't figure out where the time flies.

I see from what's been posted so far that there's a lot of health issues going on out there. Hope everyone feels better soon and that your knee surgery goes well, lickeyan.

I feel sort of inadequate that while I've managed, so far, to be lucky and avoid getting sick, I'm still not getting much crafting done. I've been turning over some ideas, in my mind, for the photo inspiration challenge but haven't actually done anything concrete on it yet.

Spending sometime each day on photography and slowly (very slowly) working my way through my craft supplies trying to decide what I might want to get rid of or, at least, pack away in less convenient closets or shelves and what I want to have right to hand, to use more often. Problem is I have ideas for what I want to do with so many things, it's hard to decide which ones to go with and which to back burner.

Have looked at only one CHA thingso far...arrgh...last year I was working and still managed to do a number of the challenges...not sure why I seem so much less efficient this year.

Hello All!
We've had more cold weather here too. (Arkansas). And It's making me miserable. But at least I'm not sick. And speaking of not feeling well, good luck with your knee, LickeyAn. I hope you manage a lot of stamping time while you are recuperating.
I tried to follow the CHA news. Not interested on the challenges though. Looks as if a lot of new stamps are coming out. But the companies that gear towards scrapbooking make some of the weirdest stamps. (weird in my opinion anyway). I scrapbook too, but if I see another stamp that says "remember this" I think I'll scream.
I'm a Downton fan too! I love it. But I am worried about Anna and Mr. Bates. I am not sure where that story line is going.
Heidi, I would love to hear more about your class. Which one are you taking?

Afternoon All!

My 'get up & go' is still among the missing, but I'm managing to accomplish some things--just not the ones I really need to...

Pug. I hearya on the 'food' thing. Mom & I are still sruggling with lack of real appetite.

About the 'mag submit'. I'm trying to stay upbeat about doing it, but truth to tell it's really feeling more & more like an obligation. Trust me, the situation is complicated. Far as just submitting for publication? It can be fun--depends on how many hoops the publication requires submitters to jump thru.

Good point about 'overthinking'. I can do that even when it's not a magazine thing. I still do it with lots of challenges. Often it's due to a lack of focus on my part--or game plan if you prefer. Far as sharing the submit here? Will if & when I can.

Weather. Not bad today. Need to clean off the car, but it's a bit sunnier today. Gonna get really cold next week! Any of the Southern Peas getting really bad weather today? Thinking Pug & Willy may be experiencing some fugly storm today. Think most of us Northern/MidWestern Peas are just bracing for the colder stuff.

Sorry if I missed any of you in notes, but we'll catch up--fer sure!

Hope y'all have a good today.

Daniel, you are right! It is very chilly and raining buckets outside! I had to go to a hair appointment in this earlier this morning, but at least when I got there the wind had stopped blowing sideways and the rain had let up some. Now it is really pouring again. We might have some sleet or snow tonight.

I had fun yesterday with my stamping friends who came over to make Valentines. We got a few made along with doing some other techniques. On Saturday I am going to a scrapbook store to meet up with more stamping friends to work on more Valentines and other things. Will be a good week!! LOL! Always great to stamp with good friends.

Will need to get started today on my design team's projects. I finally got my supplies and need to get going!

Tonight we are having leftovers -- Italian herb chicken pasta and toss salad. The pasta is a new EASY recipe I tried and it turned out real well

Hope ya'll are having a good day!

LOL, Willy! Hope your hairdresser used lots of hairspray. Love the 'windswept' look!

Yeah. I do like making Valentine stuff. My faves are the really intricate Victorian ones.

Your weather sounds lovely... Hope your area avoids the sleet or icy rain--much worse for travel than snow.

Mom & I decided that a 'breakfast' supper sounds good today. We're each making our own version. I'm gonna do 'soaky' eggs with lots of buttered bread & some bacon. Might do some homefries, too. A big glass of OJ & a mug of tea the Irish 'way'--so strong a rat's footprints won't show! loaded with sugar & very milky.

Have to get the trash around for tomorrow's pickup. Not tons of 'wasted' food this week, but a few fridge leftovers that need to go.

Trying to finish up my Feb. tag for Eager so I can mail tomorrow.

I'm checking the boards late tonight. Busy but good day. Hubs was off today so we picked up some donuts from our local donut shop. Very very tasty and a treat that we try not to indulge in too often! He entertained little man while I got caught up on a ton of work. He's still pretty sick so I plan on taking him to the doctor in the morning.

No crafting done today but hope to finish my tags and a couple challenges this weekend. I hope!

The weather skipped us, fine by me!

Not much to report today, plan to catch some zzzs and check out more threads in the morning. Have a good night!

115 degrees!!!!!

I think this is the hottest day I have ever experienced. Even the AC is struggling a bit. Thank goodness we don't have to go out anywhere, and DH got home from work early.

This is one day I don't feel bad letting the kids watch a bit more TV than usual!

ETA: Just saw the News - today was Sydney's hottest day EVER!!!!!! In 1939 it got close, but not quite.

Good morning! Christin, it is so hard to imagine your 115 degrees! We finally are seeing the sun today after at least a week of really dreary weather, but it is cold and windy! Brrrr!

"Ruby" That is really funny what you said about the stamps for Scrapbooking. I have to agree that so many of those sets look similar to me. I am taking the mini workshop here at TwoPeas, Journey into Cardmaking. It is just 4 videos, but I liked the one video on design principles. I have not completed all 4 videos yet. The workshop is good for new cardmakers, or those who haven't been doing it that long. I am considering doing the onlinecardclasses one for Clean and Simple cards, too. I would love to learn more about design and color sometime.

I happened to watch the Glitter Girl video from 2P's yesterday and although I do not scrap, I thought it was pretty interesting to see her tips.

Stampwilly, your pasta dish sounds excellent!

I have a card completed and an additional card in process for Christin's sketch challenge. I'm looking to finish and post those today.

OY, Christin! With that kind of heat you can save money by broiling your shrimp on the sidewalk--no need to fire up the 'barby'. Now that's HOT weather for sure Down Under. I do not envy you.

Pug. Sorry the little guy's still ill. Glad the weather skipped you, tho'.

Heidi. Less dreary here. Actually supposed to be even warmer & sunnier today & tomorrow. Calling for the deep freeze by middle of next week, tho'. 'Sok. We've gotten off lightly so far.

I'm cooking up the meat (beef & pork) for Sunday dinner. We're having meat pie. We'll make 2--1 to eat & 1 to freeze. Should taste good.

Just about done with my 2nd Feb tag (for Marshia). She PM'd me & said hers is in the mail.

Hoping to start Christin's sketch piece today. So I best get offline & get crackin'.

Have a good'un!

New Flash - the doctor decided that they can fix what is bothering my knee with a scope only - I hope he is right. so it will be same day surgery on the 28th and I will have a shorter recovery time and less pain.

Got to go with the flow, but I still am trying to get organizing done first. Getting down on the floor is an interesting process whether it is total knee or the scope.

Talk about a wide range of temperatures 114 to 0 and below. At least the sun is shinning today and the snow this morning when I left to go to the pool was coming down and looked like fairy flakes - all shiny and reflected with little sparkly colors.

Have a great week end - going to make cards this week end.

What good news about your knee, lickeyan! I hope it will be a short recovery. Will be getting my supplies together tonight to take to the scrapbook store tomorrow to stamp with some friends. Instead of cropping we will be stamping! Can't wait! We had a cold and very wet day yesterday , but sunny and warmer today. Should be nice tomorrow. I can't imagine 115 degrees either! Hope everyone is doing well. Have a fantastic weekend!

Another night time check in for me!

It's been a long day today and I am wiped. I really wanted to finish up some challenges and take some pics of my finished projects to upload today but it didnt happen. Maybe this weekend I can! I did upload a pic to Heidi's Organization thread. Sometimes I think I like organizing my supplies as much as I like crafting!

Little man seems to be on the mend. Went to the doc today and it's just a nasty virus. Luckily no strep or flu!

My Mom & Dad may be coming down tomorrow for a visit. So that will be fun. Other than that, just the usual catch up on some housework. I need to get my Valentines decorations out. I hope I get some crafting in too.

Ruby, I was thinking the same thing about some of the CHA releases. I scrap too and most of the stamps that are aimed for scrapbooking all sound the same to me. I don't own any other than some jouraling stamps.

Christin, 115! Yikes that's miserably hot!!!! I hope you all get some relief soon!

Heidi, I have watched a couple of the glitter girl videos. I believe they are mostly geared towards scrapbooking but she has such great tips and tricks on her videos! I may need to check out the clean and simple cards workshop. I really like that look but am not very good at acheiving it!

Daniel, thanks for swapping with Marshia too on the February tag swap! That's so nice of you.

LickeyAn, good news about your knee! Hopefully you will have a smooth and fast(er) recovery. I plan to make some cards too this weekend, if time allows.

Stampwilly, have fun at your stamping crop! That sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon!

I'm off to check out a few more threads, have a good night

Afternoon All!

Managed to get the meatpie filling prepped. Took me forever to pick the meat, do the taters & onions, but that part's done. Just have to do the dough for the pies, but that's tomorrow's job. We're getting ready to hit the supermarket.

Weather today is coming along--sunny & less cool. Still dealing with lack of enthusiasm about meals & food in general, but gotta make an effort. So I'll be back!

'Til then have a good'un!

Back from the 'grocery run'. Starting to get really pooped, but did pretty well. Went 'off-list' a bit, but got some good buys & we should be good for a bit.

Got my Feb. tag from Marshia in today's mail. Just lovely! Need to PM her so she can upload it to the gallery! BTW? Her 'say it with pictures' challenge is a Hoot. Check it out!

My Feb tag for her missed today's pickup. Means it will have to wait 'til Tues. since there's no mail on Monday--MLK Holiday. 'Sok. It's still Jan.!

BTW... Did you know that until FDR's 4th term (1945) Inauguration Day was in March. It was changed to January 20th. What I did not know--just learned--is that President-elect Obahma will be sworn in on Sunday, but the public swearing-in will be on the 21st. Mom tells me the White House kitchens are baking lots of Michelle's recipe choc. chip cookies. Guessing they are for the various receptions.

Pretty much finished my card for Christin's sketch #1. I like the results. Gonna try to leave it alone & not fuss with it.

Still debating what to do about my mag submit. Think I have to stay true to doing my own work--rather than being influenced by what others are making. 'Course I'll still stay with the theme & spirit of the gig. 'Sok. I'm talking to myself. Happens when you're 'old'.

Wanna get back to working on craft stuff, so y'all take care today!

Good news, lickeyan about the knee and I'm glad to hear Leighann's little man or "little pug" is on the upswing! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I'm sure Stampwilly is having a great time at her crop.

It is sunny and not too cold today. I've looked ahead to next week's weather and I do believe we are going to need our wooly hats and mittens! brrr!

I'm plugging along with my reading. A couple books I have I took out from the "virtual" library. This means that 14 days after I check the book out, it disappears! This is great because I don't pay a fine (I am notorious for paying huge fines! I look at it as charity.) but I need to be organized to make sure I can finish it. Does anyone else have this service with their library?

I want to get a few more Valentine's done this weekend, enough for all the kids and relatives I send to, and I still am thinking of the 2 more Christmas cards I need to complete the 5 I said I would do for the Christmas all year challenge.

Daniel, there have been a lot of "president" shows on tv lately. I wonder if this is where you and your mom learned your trivia? It is very interesting, and I'm sure I will watch some of the coverage of the inauguration.

Proud Mom alert! DS won a small literary contest and his sentence is going to be turned into a cartoon and published in a scholastic magazine! I had no idea he entered (at school) but I was thinking that he is inspiring me to think about entering a card to a magazine. Why not? It is a good teaching point to deal with the disappointment of not being published too. Not sure what to submit to, any ideas or advice?

Dinner tonight is leftover roast beef with baked potatoes this time. May go to the rec center later.

Congratulations, proud mom, Heidi! That's so cool about your DS! What a clever little tyke he must be. I am also terrible for racking up library fines and I ALSO consider it charity (to make myself feel better about wasting money! LOL!). I don't think our library does virtual books, but another one nearby does, I think. Two weeks is much too quick for me, though - I read so many books at once that it takes me weeks, even months, to complete a book. I'm reading a really good one about the REAL Downton Abbey at the moment - the people who lived in Highclere Castle at the time the show is set.

Ann, that sounds like good news about your knee - I hope it goes well and you recover fast.

You wouldn't believe it - the day after the hottest day EVER, I had the bathroom heater on while I showered!!! And today I'm all rugged up. We had a major change in the weather - bizarre! Playing havoc with my hay fever, though.

Hoping to have a go at Marshia's image challenge tonight - I know what I want to do, but have to put it into action. I completed and posted one of the CHA challenges this afternoon, but that's enough!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Heidi, great news about your son! Sounds talented!

I got back late last night from my day of stamping with my friends. We stopped at Joanne's and Mighty Dollar and spent way too much! Then spent more at the scrapbook store. All the coupons and discounts helped though!

I made more valentines for the kids in the hospital and worked on a card for my design team. We had a great lunch at the cafe in the scrapbook store and another great supper at Applebee's.

We are having a warm and sunny day today, but cold air is coming around the corner!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Inauguration Day!

WTG for your kiddo, Heidi! Love them literatti--'specially when there's balloons involved!

Far as you submitting for publication? Go for it! My first attempt (non-stamping) was successful. My point? Don't assume you have to deal with disappointment or rejection @ the gitgo. I'd suggest checking out Stampers' Sampler mag. Their submission guidelines seem pretty do-able.

I just served Mom her lunch. For the first time ever I made the meatpies start to finish--including the pie dough! Hoping for a 'thumbs up' review from Mom.

Weather. Yesterday was very nice. Today ain't bad, but the winds are picking up. They're ushering the cold front which will chill us for most of next week. 'Sok. Not calling for any storms with the colder air.

Might play with some stamps today, but once I eat my piece(s) of pie I'm sure I'll want to nap. LOL

That's it for now. Y'all have a good'un!

Thanks everyone. Thanks for the magazine idea, Daniel. Also, I realized that there is a selection for borrowing an online library book for 21 days, which is what I will choose next time.

Do you have sauce with your meatpie. I remember having one in a restaurant served with marinara sauce that was delicious!

Does anyone subscribe to print or digital papercrafting/stamping magazines and if so, which ones. I believe we talked about this once before, but I cannot remember.

Not much going on today. DH is building a workbench today so it is loud.

Does anyone have plans for MLK day? The kids have off but DH doesn't, so I guess I should plan some activities for us.
