I have been scrapbooking for a long time, and now i am wanting to start making cards! I have been looking at the gallery and some of the cards are just amazing. I was wondering, (the ones with the colorful characters) how are they made?

Tonya, Welcome to the dark side. LOL I mean the card side! Glad to have you here.

I can't answer your question without knowing what "colorful characters" you're seeing. Can you provide a bit more of a clue, maybe a link? I'd like to help ya.

I'm also not sure what you mean by "colorful characters." But welcome to the stamping forum. Hopefully you'll be able to post a link or something so we can help you!

You may be talking about the images that are colored. A lot of people golor these images using copic markers that are vibrant in color. Of course there are many wonderful ways to color a stamped image to a great result.

LOL, y'all! When Tonya refers to 'colorful characters' it's obvious that she's refering to the people doing the projects! I myself am a 'Colorful Character'.

That is definitely a stamp colored in with copic markers. There are a lot of markers, but copics are the most popular so far as I can tell. They are also expensive. I have just started practicing with alcohol markers (spectrum noirs) so actually, I don't do that, lol.

If you are really interested, there are a lot of videos regarding alcohol markers out there.

You can also use watercolor pencils, colored pencils, colored pencils blending with gamsol, even sharpie markers have their place.

Hi, Tonya. Welcome to the stamping board.

I tried to see the card you linked, but it's now a Red X--no picture.

When a poster doesn't tell what stamps or supplies they used, it's OK to Pea-mail them and ask. Just click on the poster's user name, and his/her profile page will come up. Click on Send Pea-mail.

As was mentioned, there are lots of ways to add color to your images. Here's a thread that might help: Classic Threads: Using Color

That thread is an older one, but it will give you some ideas.

My favorite coloring media right now are Tombow Markers and Prismacolor Pencils.

LOL, Tonya! I'm the StamPeas 'bad boy', but have lots of good company among others.

As you view projects, you'll see some with very little 'how-to' & 'whats' for some, while others write volumes. As others have said, it's fine to PM an uploader & ask, but fine to ask on threads, too.

I've gotten 'better' @ providing some info when I upload, but never object to requests for info.

BTW? Your 'turn-to-cards' is timely. We have a party coming up starting Feb 9. It's called Winterefest. You'll definitely get a chance to make cards & play with stamps!
