For years I have been purchasing and using un-mounted stamps. (I'm not referring to the clear kind, just plain ol' red rubber) And I have always attached the cushion with sticky on both sides and mounted them on wood blocks. (old school, isn't it?) But now I've found that wood mounts are getting hard to find, as well as expensive, and I've depleted my hoard of them. So I'm thinking of purchasing the cling foam-stuff and using acrylic blocks. But I'm not sure.
So, how do you use your plain red rubber? Any advice?
Little known fact:
The name Ruby Rubbler is derived from Red ( Ruby ) & Rubber with an "L" ( Rubbler ) |

Lol, I like the "Little known fact". We had a thread on here last year about how everyone came up with their pea names and it was fun!
To your question: I use EZMount and it works great. |

LOL! "Do the name 'ruby begonia' strike a familiar note?" (remember Laugh IN?)
'Short' answer... Invest in acrylic mounts! Worth every penny! I have 2x2, 3x5 & 5x5 plus some very small ones that came wirh sets.
If my UMS come with a cushion I leave the cushion intact. If it's just the rubber die, I don't add a cushion--most times.
I use a gluestick to temporarily mount my stamps to the acrylic mounts. HTH |

Ever since I learned that glue trick stick from Daniel I have used it on my stamps. I love it. I use to mount my stamps on my acrylic blocks with repositionable double sided tape. The repositionable glue stick is a lot more economical and works better too. |

A tip about cleaning up gluestick build up...
Over a period of time you may see the adhesive build up on your acrylic mounts & rubber stamps. When that happens just wash them in mild detergent & warm water. I only do clean up when it gets really difficult to see where the stamp is going thru the mount. Kinda like a dirty window. HTH |

There is also a product called Tack n' Peel which works great for unmounted rubber. It is a clear film that you trim to the size of your acrylic block. There is an adhesive on one side for the block. The other side is where the stamp will cling. You leave the film on your block and recover the cling side with the original backing. The product seems a little pricey for the size sheet but you have to remember you are covering your blocks and not each individual stamp. If you have clear stamps in your collection then you can just use the flip side of the block which doesn't have the film. |

Thanks Michelle! I bought some Tack n peel and forgot I had it!
I'll try it today.
I had been using double sided tape or poster tape. Poster tape isn't cheap either and I throw it away each time.
They make repositionable glue stick?
Ruby, thanks for the explanation! Cute name! |

Oh, forgot to mention. If you really like your wood block method ... lots of people are unmounting and don't know what to do with the blocks. Maybe someone will give them to you, just for the price of shipping. I think there is a "for sale or trade" forum here on twopeas, or just ask here on the stamper's forum.
Nothing wrong with old school! |
