How is everyone gettimg themselves organized and ready for WF13?
Got any tips to getting all the possible challenges done? Veterans share your best tips. Newbies remember that this is supposed to be fun so don't feel intimated or afraid to speak up. We were all new once and a technique we have never tried is always new to us. These challenges always stretch my abilities and stamping skills.
My biggest tip: I go through the Master List on Saturday and read through each challenge and print it off. It becomes my check list.
My best prep tip: Check out the blogs and postings for any pre- supply requirements. I have not done this in past years and it has frustrated me. My goal is to be organized this time around.
Pics: In past years, I have waited until the end to post my pics/entries to the challenges. This overwhelms me and if technical difficulties happen it can leave me in a panic or make me miss the deadline. I uploaded my images as I completed a challenge last Stamping event and made me a much calmer and happier stamper/WF participant.
Leave Praise: If you need a break from stamping or just some inspiration to make your next creation, be sure to check out the stamping board and leave praise. Everyone loves to receive praise for their hard work and creative spirit, so leave some love for your fellow stampers.
Can't wait for WF13 to start. Do you have any tips to share?
Thanks,
Neysa aka neyw 2 peas name |

Hi, Neysa. Thanks for starting this thread. You make some very good points. I also copy off the challenges in case Two Peas goes down during the week. Without being on-line, I actually get more done!
In addition to the tips you made, I would suggest that people don't overlook the Discussion Threads. That's where the fun of sharing in a community takes place. I learn so much from what people come up with in order to do a challenge even when they don't have the exact supply they might need and how they put their own spin on a technique or project. That's where we help each other out with ideas and how-to's.

All of these are great tips. I will be at a stamping long weekend party and will be doing of the challenges there SO I must get really prepared and bring everything I need. So I will print off all the challenges and make sure I have all the supplies. I enjoy joining in the discussions too! looking forward to it!

Good thread, Neysa and great tips so far!
My tip is to clear your workspace today or tomorrow so you are ready.
And I just wanted to echo to newcomers to please jump right in! Ask questions if you need to. Any challenge host would be thrilled that you participated!
I also agree that uploading photos as you go may be a good way to go, in case there are glitches. And don't forget to find/charge your camera.

Tip? Use the bookmark & watch options! So helpful when 'traffic' gets heavy on the forum! |

Great thread!
My best tip in addition to those above-Have FUN! Enjoy the process of learning new things.
Here is what works for me to organize the week:
I take a few minutes to quickly rank the challenges 1,2,3. - 1. I really want to complete this challenge
- 2. would be nice
- 3. not so much
Then determine how I can comfortably spread them out over the week. This helps me to reduce any stress and helps me pace myself so I don't spend way too much time on one challenge.
As I work I try to focus on the current challenge and no more than the very next one on my list. Otherwise I find I spend too time and energy only thinking.
For many events I didn't clean my stamps and supplies and put them away between challenges...but I learned this kept using the same items over again...instead of exploring other stamps and supplies.
Yes, I too love the discussions about how special techniques are accomplished and what to avoid.
Can someone please explain how to use the bookmark and watch features? |

Amen on the 'Fun', Jan!
Far as bookmark & watch? See the arrow next to the 'reply' button? click on it & you get a 'drop down' for options. 'bookmark' saves it to your space so you can access it many months from now. Not sure what happens with 'watch', but click it anyway! LOL |

Jan, they hid the bookmark and watch list buttons. Just click on the little arrow to the right of the Reply button (right top and bottom of thread.)

Usually I try to combine challenges as much as possible, but they don't seem as "combinable" this time, so I think my WF13 strategy will be to go for more clean and simple cards, doing only one challenge per card!
Don't hold me to it, though! sometimes I just can't resist! |

Daniel, you are a hoot!
If you click on watch, you get a link in the left most column. See it under "MESSAGE BOARD"? There are "General Forums" , then "Recent Watchlist" . These are links that take you directly to the discussion threads you are watching. I put the WF Master Thread and my own Challenge discussion as well as my Christmas all Year challenge in my watch list. You might want to add any discussions you start to the list so you can find them quickly and see if anyone has added a comment. |
