Hi everyone and welcome to my Winterfest 2013 challenge!

I thought I would revisit my Winterfest challenge from 2011, which was also called Make a Scene. I love to stamp and construct little scenes on my cards and layouts, and thought it would be fun to use this as a challenge again.

Your project can be any kind of scene: realistic, grungy and distressed, funny or sweet, etc. - whatever you can think of. Your scene has to include stamping, but in addition to stamping, die cuts, shrink plastic, flowers, chipboard shapes and lots of other embellishments can be used to build a scene.

Sample projects : I've posted links to a whole bunch of different scenic projects in the challenge blog post, some of them are step-by-step tutorials.

More info in the WF13 Make a Scene blogpost

Challenge guidelines:
1. Make a new card of any size, an ATC, a layout or any other project, making some kind of scene.
2. The project must include stamping.
3. Post your piece in the stamping gallery, and click the checkbox for ' WF13 Make a Scene'.
4. Please share how you created your scene so that we can all learn and be inspired.
5. You can combine this challenge with other WF challenges and you may enter as many times you like.
6. It is always fun if you link your piece to the discussion thread about this challenge. Also, if you have any comments or questions, please leave them on that thread too.
7. The challenge runs between 9 February - 17 February 2013.

I am looking forward to see all the scenes you will create!

[Because of the problems with the gallery, I've extended the deadline of my challenge, so that everyone will get a chance to upload their projects.]

___________

Edited 19 Feb: Thank you so much to everyone who did my challenge! Twelve fabulous scenes were posted and I loved seeing the variety. My son draw the winner and it is Melissa (Yellowcherrios). Congrats Melissa! I will send you a peamail.

Anna-Karin, I'm laughing at myself. Is this the time I actually dip my toe into scenic stamping? You know it's something I've wanted to try out. Not being an artist, I worry about perspective or, rather, the lack of it.

Thank you for all the links to samples and the step-by-step tutorials. And wish me luck and courage.

I had fun working on a Nativity scene last night! Very inky fingers today.

Still needs refinement, though.

The scenes you create are really in another class Anna- Karin, but I wanted to try something along those lines so I combined this with Daniel's masking challenge and came up with something much simpler and less elegant but hopefully still fun.

Fabulous scenes!! I was happy to see some cards posted to the challenge when I checked in. No Winterfest stamping for me yet, I am busy preparing stuff for my son's birthday party, he wants a Monster & Spider party, which is fun, also for making little scenes.

I just watched the first three of Kevin Nakagawa's video tutorials. Now I have a much better idea of how to use the scenic stamps I bought a while back. (Remember, I found them used at a store, and they were selling them pennies on the dollar!

Mr. Nakagawa is very interesting. When I get home from work, I'll watch Video #4; it has to do with coloring the images. I'm looking forward to that.

Thanks for the link.

Daria-I too am watching the videos and have completed through #6. I really like the all the information that is presented so many tips that can be used in any stamping. And you will soon see all the layers of ink! I don't have any of the stampscapes stamps but I do have several outdoor Alaska stamps...but I think I will play and see what I can accomplish.

Here is my card for Make a Scene!

bottles and grass

This was lots of fun Anna-Karin! I was getting carried away! I have to do this more often! It is so neat the things I "see" in my stamps and I think "can I use that flower portion in the scene"?

Thank you for hosting this Anna-Karin!

I hope simple scenes count! I don't have many stamps I'd consider scenic, I also had limited supplies while traveling when I made this. But I enjoyed making a little scene, mixing up a couple stamp sets. When I have more time I'd like to try a more elaborate scene. Thanks for the challenge!

I can't upload to the gallery today (lots of other folks having the same problem.) This entry is also for Daniel's Masking challenge. It was suggested we provide a description to make the deadline for the challenge, then post the image whenever the gallery upload is working again.

So here is my scene description- A mason jar containing a Steampunk style hot air balloon rising above tree tops and in front of a mountain.

How fun with so many new submissions to my challenge!! The gallery is not letting me look at or comment on the projects right now, I'll try again tomorrw.

I am extending the deadline of my challenge to 18 Feb, midnight Two Peas time, because of the problems with the gallery. Hopefully it will be possible to upload projects to the gallery tomorrow again.

I had the worst time with this challenge. I just don't "think" that way. I did come up with this small idea. And what I learned is that a scene can be as detailed and beautiful as Anna Karin creates or as simple as this one. The fourth card in this post is the scene card.

WF13 Make a Scene Challenge

Thanks Anna K for the nudge into 'scene thinking'.

I had to rack my brain to come up with a scene since I am at a stamping retreat and I don't have all my supplies handy! You can only take so much! LOL! Anyway, I DID come up with something!

This one was hard for me to decide what I wanted to do but I really enjoyed it and plan on making more scenes(stamping that is)

This one is very plain and simple, but I loved this technique. I paired it with Daniel's masking challenge.

my card

Thank you Anna-Karin! I enjoyed this technique and always enjoy seeing your scenes you create and seeing what the fellow stamp peas came up with as well.

Making a scene took me a while because I really wanted to incorporate a cow stamp I never get the chance to use. I stamped two cows, a vase of flowers, and then colored in the cows and the vase and added a flower embelishment. I plan to use this as a birthday card for a close friend of mine. This was so much fun to color in. Cow Friends Card

AH-in December I was finally able to get faster internet cable so I am now able to watch Utube videos. And what a difference it made to be able to watch an explaination of the basics. I look forward to spending more time learning more skills for this type of stamping.

Thanks Anna-Karin for a fabulous challenge

A big thank you to everyone who did my challenge! I loved looking at the different scenes and seeing all the variety.

I wrote all the names on pieces of papers, placed them in a bowl and let my son draw the winner, something he has done since he was a baby. He took out Melissa's (Yellowcherrios) name first. Congrats Melissa!

Hi Anna-Karin!

I wanted to post my Second Chance Sablona scene card here as another example of a scene though I know it doesn't really qualify b/c it only has a sentiment stamp---but I wanted to show a scene made with other items other than stamps as one of your suggestions was on the challenge:

Sablona Scene Card

Thank you Anna-Karin for hosting a scene challenge --- they are so fun no matter how they are done!
