Please go to my
Challenge Blog
for all of the particulars and a view of my sample.

On my blog there is a video done by Heidi Swapp that she generously allowed me to share. Her video inspired my sample piece, and this challenge.

I hope you enjoy the challenge. I used spray inks and distress ink but you can use any kind of ink or paint. The point is to mix masking, stenciling and stamping.

Make sure to upload your entry in to the twopeas stamping gallery and reply to this thread with a link to it.

Now go play!

Note: there will be a small RAK for one random participant.

Hi, Cindi! What a gorgeous piece you created! The pear shape is pretty and I love those white birds. That Stampin' Up set is getting added to my wishlist, too. It is in the video for Daria's And Then There Were Three challenge and now in your sample. Love that flower. Thanks for hosting!

Cool sample, Cindi!

I have to chuckle, tho'... Isn't it 'interesting' that WF13 has several challenges that are masking/stencil related (possible)? What fun!

And the 'non-combining' is fine, too. Long as I'm going to mask & stencil anyway, I can do 2 completely different pieces without needing to gather lots of other stamps & such. Not quite 'multi-tasking, but close...

Yo, Cindi! Got your PMs. Don't fret! Puleeze!

I'm with Heidi. Even tho' videos are 'problematic' for me, you & Anne have done a great job of writing your blogs! I'm confident in what's required & have a clear idea of how to do stuff for your neat challenge, pal.

AND! I repeat! I don't have any problem with the 'no-combining'. It's a good way to get players to to play with doing more than one project--while still being in a comfortable place technique & processwise. KWIM?

Cindi, your sample is fabulous. Right now, I'm just checking for new discussion threads and challenge blogs so I can link them to the Master Thread, but I'll be back to read the details and watch the video.

Cindi, Your example is soooo pretty, I was really inspired to give this a try. I really enjoyed this process. I found smaller stamps were needed to kinda fit the scale of the crane. And tho' not at all realistic I like the colors I chose.

Thanks for the challenge. I can't wait to do it again!

Marshia,

I love your crane! It's so cool that you were able to use a crane mask and then the stamp of cranes. I didn't even think about the scale of the stamps because my pear was so large. You found the perfect stamps!

I'm glad you enjoyed the challenge.

Wonderful, Marshia! Left you praise (twice, but not by design).

Hope you'll enter my challenge which is similar to Cindi's, but not exactly the same.

I'm starting in on one for this one. FUN!

This WAS a challenge. I have been collecting Art Journalling supplies so I was very happy to put them to good use with this challenge by making a Valentine card.

Well, I made something today. It was coming along fine, and then . . .

I was using Distress Stains, and they leaked under the mask. After I kept on with the piece, I got the hang of it and really liked the way the stains were working. However, I need to start again!

I'll save the first one for one of the scraps challenges so all is not lost.

I'm back! I hope you like my card because I love it! LOL.

This was such a fun challenge. I bought the Dylusion stencil after watching someone use it on a video, but this is the first time I've used it. Also, it's been way too long since I used my Stamp Zia Sprays, and I used them for two different challenges today.

Thank you!

LOL! I do like your card, Daria! Thanks for being persistent! I think it would be hard to get neat results with stains, they are so liquid.

I was wondering what you did with the Tombow marker when I saw it in your supply list? I'm glad you shared your little secret, ha! It's perfect. I wouldn't have guessed.

Sophikins, your valentine is gorgeous! I'm glad you put your art journaling collection to good use! I love the gold shimmer. The burst stencil inside a heart is a brilliant idea, and you made the perfect heart mask.

Daniel, I can't wait to see what you are up to!

I'm so glad I hosted this. I wasn't sure this technique would translate well on to cards and now I'm seeing examples of wonderful cards! Thanks for playing!

I have finished my card and it is attached to the blog, I hope.

I don't care for my card and this is not my favorite challenge or technique, but I wanted to do one - so I hope you will give me credit for trying and submitting my less than stellar card. Please do not put my name in the random drawing.

I try some this again later and practice.

Thanks for the challenge.

Thanks so much for taking on the challenge Ann. I'm sorry it was so frustrating. That happens to all of us. I swear I am the slowest card maker. And I'm not always the happiest with my results. But hey, that's why it's a challenge right? And you met the challenge, and maybe tried something new. I'm glad you checked the box!

There are lots of good things about your project. I left you a comment in the gallery.

I think possibly Heidi Swapp made this look easier than it is! However, I had a lot of fun trying it and may try it again in the future if I build up a collection of stencils.

My entry was not made into a completed project yet.

Thanks for the challenge, it was really different and intriguing!

I'm always in awe when I host a challenge at all of the wonderful entries. Thank you so much for participating and sharing what you created and how you did it.

I'm sorry I didn't change the date to extend the challenge box for an extra day. I'm away on vacation and didn't read the memo . I'm happy people continue to post and welcome more entries just to see what you've done.

And now for the moment of truth ...

Daria gets the RAK!

Congrats Daria. Can't believe how perfectly you masked your white cat!
I'm vacationing at my daughter's in Denver, so this year she got to pick out of the hat. She enjoyed all of the entries too!

Cindi, I just read your Pea-mail and came here to say THANK YOU!

This was a fun challenge. I think we need to be reminded of the wonders of masking from time to time. It's really very simple and so very effective.

Thank you for the challenge. I also loved seeing all the entries.

I've completed this challenge! (well, Daria's Second Chance Challenge, actually!)

Second Chance Layered Stencil, Mask, Stamp

This was a fantastic technique, and I'm so glad I got a chance to do it this week.

Thank you, Cindi!
