Oh, I love this! I have done something similar, except it was on patterned paper, whereas here you are making your own patterned paper with your background stamp. Fabulous way to get more stamping in! |

I finished my card.
Jan, your directions were easy to follow. I love resist, and this one is lovely. It was fun and easy to do. Of course, I have ink pads all over my work surface, but I'll soon take care of that!
Thank you.

I would like to try this, but have some questions.
1. Do you put all three colors of ink on the same part of the stamp, or each color on a different area?
2. If you put all three colors of ink on the entire stamp, how do you do this to prevent cross-contamination of two pads?

Hi Ellen--Thanks for the great questions!
Here is what I did--
1.The background stamp needs to be fully covered with ink. I used the ink pad direct to surface of the stamp. I place the colors on seperately in bands across the stamp.
2. I worked with the stamp at an angle so the bands were not obvious. I use the lightest color first, from left to right I had no color transfer.
Other thoughts--Some of the multi colored inkpads are dye inks and could be brayed on. Or the small cateye momento inks maybe easier to manipulate if doing inking direct to stamp.
This is really a really fast technique. I really find selecting the stamps and ink take the longer than do the technique.

Hi Daria!
What a beautiful card! I love your stamp selection and the beautiful blended colors. Indeed it does look like designer paper!
I tried to leave a comment on your card but it is not giving me the gallery is not giving me a blank comment box. I will go back.
Thanks for letting me know that the instructions worked for you. Thanks for playing in this challenge.

I am having trouble with this. I am either not picking the right stamps or just not good color combos. I think I may need to try to keep it simpler. |

Here's my card/ATC!
Underwater ATC or Card
This technique is so much fun! the only trouble I had is figuring out a sentiment---thus there is not one b/c I've been trying to think of one for a day and half! So decided I better publish it "as is"---I still like it though!
Thank you Jan for such a fun challenge! |

Wonderful card Melissa! I often don't add sentiments until I decide the use of a specific card...then it feels right for the occasion. And if it doesn't fit the outside it goes on the inside. Thanks so much for playing in my challenge!

I really enjoyed this one!
I submitted my 2nd attempt at this. My first one didnt work too well. I think it's because my background stammp I first used was a little too detailed.
Thank you Jan for hosting this inky challenge! I loved doing this technique and loved seeing all of the entries you've been getting.

This was the challenge that I had the most trouble with. I definitely did not anticipate this, especially after seeing the other entries that all looked so good! I think my trouble was choosing so many colors to use all together.
My son and I both made cards for this. Thanks for the challenge!

I really enjoyed this challenge. It has been a long, long time since I have done this technique and usually I have done it using black ink. This time I wanted an antique look and used 2 different shades of brown. In fact, I got on a roll and made about 5 backgrounds with this technique!

I tried this a couple of times and each looked more messy and muddled than the next. This is my best version. Interesting technique. Egg Card |
