Since I've seen the finale of Downton Abbey Season #3, I'm ready to move on.

Time for another version of 'Send You'.

This thread is for signup, comments, questions & project links.

As with the previous 'SYs', you will make just one piece & send it to your swapmate.

I will close the signup on Feb. 28 & post the swapper list on Mar. 1

Here's the swap/challenge blog

Please be sure to read the blog before you sign up.

Although I have a link to a 'medals' site on the blog with lots of photos of medals & orders from around the world, I thot I'd share 3 examples to whet your whistle.

British medal

Netherlands medal

USA medal

These are just 2 different styles of medals. There are lots more options.

The "medal" requirement is a surprise, but after thinking about it, I think I can do it, so count me in...

LOL, Heidi! The 'medal' concept is due (in part) to input from both you & LeighAnn on the pre SY #3 thread.

Depending on how we construct our medals, they can be worn or used to decorate our homes.

We're already up to 3 players--you, me & pug. Pretty sure Beady will be 'in', but not counting anyone 'til they sign up here.

I have a feeling that--like Pug's monthly tag swap--many swappers are going to want to make more than one medal. While that will not be a requirement, we can discuss it as we go along.

BTW? Good chance (I hope) that we'll be 'international' once again. If shipping outside the USA is a 'problem' for anyone, let me know & I'll be sure to match you up with a domestic swapmate. No problem!

My first thought Daniel was to ask you what you were smoking when you thought of medals but then my second thought was oh cool this should be fun. Sign me up. This should be on-going like the tags. I would love a collection of stamped medals.

Just smokin' my usual mix, Beady! And I see 'Maker's Mark' backed off reducing its proof so my tipple is safe.

Figured medals woud appeal to your jewelry bent. Feel free to host an ongoing, but as an 'SY' I'm doing it as a 'one off'.

One thing I'm thinking of doing is looking over what each of us swappers have in our personal gallery. That way I have the potential for including a bit of 'them' along with my 'me'.

LOL, Kathy! Ain't no reason to be skaired of this SY. My bet for slower sign up is that many StamPeas are getting caught up or recurperating from WF. That's understandable.

Reason I started the sign up & discussion early was so we'd have plenty of time talk about & (if necessary) tweak the time frame for mailing our projects.

Since several of us are already doing the monthly tag, I could definitely see some medals being made where an upside down tag replaces the ribbon on that style of medal. Also...If you access the medal site, you'll see ones like the Olympics ones that are worn around the neck.

Ummm, yeah, I'm not scared, per se.

This challenge is just a little too eclectic for my current crafting time restraints. Is that diplomatic enough?

Yeah, ok, I'm boring and should branch out more.

But not this time.

Sorry.

LOL, Christin! So tempted to post a witty quip, but running out of wit--need to get more from my favorite store. We're cool!

I like 'eclectic' & nice thing about hosting a challenge or swap is being able to pick stuff one likes. Most times there are 1 or 3 others who are interested in joining/playing.

One thing I truly have learned? Lack of participation is not a personal insult. Well. Most of the time...

Still time for others to join us & put their 'medal to the peddle'. Hey! That's not a bad phrase.

LOL, Pug! What 'details' would you like? I think I provided all of them in the blog. Did I miss something?

You only have to create & swap one medal. Long as it employs stamps, you can do whatever you want for style, technique & materials--anything from 'crappy cardboard' (inside joke) to precious metals & jewels. I prefer gold & rubies in case anyone's wondering.

ROTFL! I'm up to '2 Es'! Christin says it's eclectic & Heidi thinks it eccentric. Anyone want to add another 'E'?

I really hope current & potential swappers are checking out the medal site (link on the blog). You will see lots of different shapes & styles--from very simple to complex.

Remember. The underlying premise/goal of the swap/challenge is being 'YOU'. And if it adds a bit more to your experience, it increases 'you' (I hope)

How about exuberant?

You're very exuberant when it comes to stamping and swapping and that's

And apparently I was so exuberant that I didn't even read the blog.
Not sure how I missed that, lol! Somehow I had it in my head that the medal was going to be geared towards your swap mate. Don't ask how I got that in my head!

So I got the details now and this is on my crafty to do list this week.

Not a huge number for the 'medal' round of 'SY', but that's ok! We're gonna have fun with this--I'm sure!

Here's the list of swapmates:

Melissa > Kathy (Beady)
Kathy > Heidi
Heidi > Melissa
Daniel > LeighAnn
LeighAnn > Daniel

You are only required to create & swap one medal. Please try to mail it by Mar. 18.

Be sure to use the challenge box when you upload & link to this thread also.

NOTE! IF you find yourself falling in love with making medals, you may send medals to others. That's strictly up to each of us to decide & no pressure or guilt if you only do a medal for your swapmate.

For any who choose to make/send more-than-one, you may send them to other swappers or anyone else you wish. A medal would be a fun way to RAK someone.

I'm starting a medal today. I have the start of an idea that is both 'me' & my swapmate. LOL, Pug! Be afraid' be very afraid!

Terrific, Kathy! Happy to have you do another medal round for April.

Far as 'my' Send You? They are not exclusive to me, of course. That said, I don't plan to offer them on a regular schedule since it can real old for me. KWIM?

And for those doing the current SY? Remember. Y'all can combine it with other challenges/swaps long as you meet all requirements.

My motto? "Be all the YOU you can be! Join the StamPeas!" (basic training ain't that tough & there are no drill sargeants)

WTG, Pug! Made a good start on my medal--one element is 'done' & I've chosen a ribbon I want to use (ribbon use is not required!). I have several things remaining to try out before mine is ready for mailing. but should be good-to-go by next week.

ROTFLMAO! Beady honored me with a preview of her medal. It's a stunner!

Looks like most of us have gotten a start on ours so the mailing deadline seems do-able? That said... If you decide to make & send more-than one medal (see my earlier post), the mailing deadline does not apply for those; just the one for your swapmate.

I'm getting more elements done for my medal & should be able to assemble it in a day or so.

So far it's been fun using several different materials & techniques. That's a 'me' aspect I like with the 'Send You' swap. What's also interesting is that I often find myself gaining inspiration & more from my fellow 'Yous'. Also true with the monthly tag swap.

I also plan on using ribbon, it just seems right for the medal, but I haven't figured out how I am going to attach it yet. I am still choosing cardstock/ink colors, although I think I know which stamps I am using. I need to read over the guidelines to make sure I am following the requirements, and then I may get started.

Sounds good, Heidi. Yes. Getting different materials to stick together can be a challenge.

Another reminder: Your medal does not need to be wearable, but must be a separate item--not a stamped on a card piece. OK?

I was wondering if it needed to be wearable----ok so it just separate, "free-standing" item.

Does it need to be attached to a card though?

I keep thinking about the 4"x9" limit and I was thinking if that pertained to the medal or the card---if there is a card that is....

A great post, Melissa! Thank You!

The 4x9 limit on the medal might be a bit confusing. Sorry about that!

Let's say someone opts to do an around-the-neck (olympics style) medal. That could well be longer than 9". I was using the 'hanging from a ribbon or bow' styles as my guide for the 4x9 size limit. HTH

Far as the card? Up to each swapper. I think it would be terrific if our medals were 'presented' to our swapmates inside a folder--aka card. But it's not a requirement for the swap.

And the 4x9 is not meant to limit the size or type envelope used to send your medal. That's your call. Need to use a padded envelope? Feel free. Need to put the medal in a box & call a moving van? Too much!

My medal is in the mailbox ready to go to Melissa. I was inspired by a few things, but I really tried not to over-think it and kept it simple. I am looking forward to seeing the other medals, especially for those of you that incorporated ribbon. I'm not going to change mine (since it is IN the mailbox, lol) but I wasn't 100% sure about what was appropriate use of ribbon for this. Not stressing, just wondering...

Thanks for the swap coordinating, Daniel!

WTG, Heidi! I know Beady has a medal finished, too. Mine is sufficiently 'finished', but I want to consider adding an element. Long as I mail it this week, I'll be happy.

'Appropriate use of ribbon', Heidi? I 'think' I understand what you're asking--let's see...

If you've looked at the linked medals or checked out others on the medal site, you will find many that incorporate 'ribbon'--or some woven fabric as part of the medal's construction.

With our medals, we have the luxury of doing them any way we wish--even to replacing actual ribbons or bows with non-ribbon alternatives--CS, metal, foam, clay, etc. That's were our creativity comes into play.

For example... I might weave a ribbon from pp & use that. I might build a layered bow from metal. Get the idea? Since every swapper has already demonstrated their ability to think & create 'outside-the-box' in the past, the only stumbling block might be understanding that the style of medal doesn't require us to use specific materials--like ribbon. HTH.

I am so proud of myself! (so what else is new?).

I made my medal 'holder' & (like my medal) it is soooo 'me'.

I put it in the envelope & sealed it so I wouldn't be (easily) able to get it out & play more.

Taking it downstairs, adding stamps & mailing it tomorrow!

To all my fellow SY swappers! Have fun, but (please) don't get yourself stalled--even if that's a part of 'You'. That's the one part of 'Send You' I hope we will all try to avoid.

My very best to all of you!

Kathy my medal is on it's way to you! Oh I just forgot that I wanted to put a note in the envelope to you! opps! I guess I forgot b/c I was leaving "directions" on how to open the medal! (If you open the envelope from the back---you'll see a note telling you which side is the front.)

This was a fun swap Daniel---it was a challenge, but it is funny how the "ME" comes out in the end!

Thank you for a fun swap Daniel! I cannot wait to show everyone, if I do say so myself!

I think 'all countries' have been heard from for this SY version! Either in the mail or ready-to-go. COOL!

And it looks like many of us are working on more medals. Also COOL!

Since Beady has offered to host a medal swap for April, I (we) can use that for some 'breathing room' as we tackle our other projects for March deadlines--April tag, Egg & such.

Far as the next 'SY' from me? Probably not before mid-summer or early-fall. Gives me time to consider what aspect of 'YOU' I want to encourage &/or exploit.

I'll try again, but... PUG. Please try uploading the medal you sent me to the gallery. I won't be upset to see it before I get the chance to hold it in my hand & wear it--I promise!

I got Melissa's (Yellowcherrios) medal yesterday. I had to laugh because it came on the perfect day. It snowed yesterday and tomorrow is supposed to start spring. Melissa's medal is a round silver medallion with a bluebird, budding twigs and butterflies surrounding an embossed snowflake. The medal came before the snow so I think you jinxed us Melissa.

Lots of fibers with beads dangle from the bottom of the medal.

Can't wait until you put your medal in the gallery so I can find out if those butterflies are stickers, embossed or made with something like liquid pearls.

Thanks Melissa. I appreciate the time and thought you put into your medal.
