Welcome to Hangover Week! (Tuesday, February 19 -- Monday, February 25)
Winterfest 2013 is over, and you guys did great in spite of all the technical difficulties we encountered. You still participated, and you showed remarkable patience. Well, some of us got a bit frustrated, but who's telling? You sure posted a ton of projects on Monday once the gallery was working again.
Are there some challenges you wish you had completed? Now you have another chance to complete the challenges you wanted to do but didn't have enough time to do.
See the details on the WF13 Second Chance Hangover Challege Blog.
And here we go again!

I hope you all get a chance to do the challenges you wanted to do. I know that anyone can do any challenge at any time, but I find I don't go back to look for them. The Second Chance gets us busy while we still remember them.
I made a couple of cards today. They don't fulfill the requirements of the Use Those Scraps Challenge, but they wouldn't have been made without that challenge. That means they don't qualify for this challenge either , but I thought I'd share them anyway just you know I've been in the craftroom. LOL.
My Non-Qualifying Cards
Marshia has posted a terrific card that does qualify; she should be linking it here soon. (You can find it on the Challenge Blog right now.)

I have a couple of cards up now for this challenge. Thanks Daria for the reminder!
One for the KISSING challenge and one for the MASKING challenge.
I'm so thankful to have another reason and opportunity to use these techniques. |

Marshia, I love those cards! You probably already saw my comments on the retro card, but I have asked questions about the Kissing Card. You describe one technique, but you have two different outcomes. Here's my guess:
It looks like on the top two pieces you inked the circle stamp and kissed it with a dry Judikins stamp to remove color in the shape of the pattern. On the bottom two it looks like you inked the Judikins stamp and kissed it to the uninked circle stamp
Is that right?
Thank you for the info and for participating.

Daria, I thought that the metal button you made out of foil! I hope you kept an extra button of the leaf b/c it looks like it'd make great impression in clay or foil! |

I was really anxious to try masking and stenciling again while the process was still fresh in my mind (things don't last long there. LOL)
I had fun doing it. Be sure to see the 2nd pic, it show just about the whole process there.
I think it qualifies for both Daniel's and Anne's challenges. Since I did Anne's during WF I decided this was for Daniel's. |

That's very close, it sure could be done that way. I just stamped the Judikins stamp with only the ink that was kissed off in the first step. Only because I liked the almost distressed result of doing it that way.
Thanks for asking Daria. |

Daria, I don't know if you do any "melt art," but you could use Mold-n-Pour by Ranger to make a mold of the last leaf button ... and then pour melted UTEE into your mold (the "melt art" part) to create multiple leaves for future projects. |

Thanks for the idea, Anne. I have UTEE that hardly ever gets used.
I also have that stuff you heat and then get an impression on it for stamping, but that would give me a reverse image.
You guys, wait until you see Marshia's latest project. I just bumped into it in the gallery, and it's fabulous.
I have to leave for work; Marshia's card held me up! LOL

Daria, maybe I am overthinking the rules of the the hangover challenge, but
are we suppose to do only the challenges we didn't complete during WF13
OR do those we didn't complete first before redoing the ones we did complete
OR are they all open for doing again in any order (despite what we did during WF13).
See---overthinking! |

Hi, Melissa.
For the Second Chance Challenge, you cannot repeat a challenge unless you have done all of the others. If you completed all of them during Winterfest 2013, then you can do any of them again.
If you did not finish them during Winterfest 2013, you need to finish them before you can repeat a challenge.
If someone goofs and repeats a challenge without having completed each of the challenges at least once, he/she can rectify the situation by finishing the missing challenges before the end of Hangover Week. (We're just trying to have fun; I'm not going to check when the challenges were completed.)
Your name will go in the hat for a RAK once for each different Second-Chance Challenge you complete during Hangover Week, but you are welcome to share the repetitions here too. We all like to see them and get ideas.
Does that make sense, or did I just muddy the waters?

Christin, I love the humor behind a giant bird looking over a tiny cat. We have tons of crows that come for the acorns off our oak tree, and some of them are so huge, the cats keep their distance. LOL.
You did a good job with the stenciling, layering, and masking. I like the way your random script stamping turned out.

This card is for the WF13 Foil Project Challenge. I tried this 3 times, once the foil tore and the second time I just wasn't getting the detail I wanted. It wasn't until I went to the simplest possible shapes that I had any success at all. I need to redo the crimped white but didn't want to risk it right now.

Heres my card for "then there were three"---lots of fun!
The second photo--forgot to mention in description--is angled to show the seashells better. The first photo I though reflected them too much and the second photo is more of what it looks like in person.
Then there were three!!
Thank you Daria for hosting this challenge and the second challenge challenge!

Marshia, I promise you that foil technique is much easier with spray paint! I've also done it with acrylic paint, but it helps to cover the entire surface; then just sand off the paint on the raised design. After I had done that, I thought my piece looked unfinished so I sanded off some of the paint at the edges and liked it much better.
Melissa, that Triple Time card is gorgeous. I loved everything about it including the ribbon treatment. How cool is that?
You linked your heart card to the {i]And Then There Were Three Challenge[/i] instead of to this challenge. You did a terrific job on that one too. I'll link it here for you: Melissa's Hearts Galore Card

Daria. The 'ribbon' Melissa used is 'wraphia'. Reason I know is I used to ship tons of it for Berwick/Offray. The one she used is the plastic. It also comes in a paper version. |

Just posting a note that I'm going to post my Sablona scene card to Anna-Karin's scene challenge even though I'm not sure it qualifies (since it just used a sentiment stamp)---but that way there is a scene made with other items (other than just stamps) like one of her suggestions on her challenge. |

I just posted a "Then There Were Three" Christmas card to the stamping gallery from my iphone. I couldn't check the challenge box on the phone because it just kept spinning and saying "Loading" the member challenges, but they never loaded. I submitted my card anyway, and went on my laptop to edit my entry and try to check the box that way. Even though the box is checked, I haven't seen it on your blog yet Daria. And, I did add tags, both by phone, and by editing on my laptop, and the tags don't show up either. Grrrr! I'll fill out a service ticket.
Merry Christmas |

Cindi, I like your Christmas card! Your comment about the book cover brought back memories; I still have part of a role of that stuff too. I've only used it with with the labels like we did for that challenge (Magic Cover and the Mini-Labels Technique), but I had thought about using it to make masks. I thought it was too thick, but it worked for you. I'll have to give it a try.

I made another triple stamp Christmas card. This time I figured out how to get the picture from my phone to my laptop and uploaded from the laptop so it should be linked to the challenge blog. Just count 1 Daria.
There are lots of other challenges I haven't completed yet. I'm just including it here so I can link at least one to the challenge.
Another triple stamp Christmas card
On both samples I used Tsukineko Delicata Golden Glitz ink for the background flourish. This ink is new to me, but I guess it has been around for a while. I love it! It is a nice shiny gold that doesn't need embossing, woohoo! The shine doesn't show well in the photos, but I promise it is a pretty gold. One word of caution, it takes a little while to dry. I heat gunned it for a minute, thought it was dry, and smeared it, so word of warning! |

Sorry Daria, I had to upload from my phone again and I just checked and my foil card is not attached to the challenge blog. I thought maybe it worked this time because the challenges all loaded and I checked the box I really thought editing by laptop and saving might work, but no such luck.
A few details about my foil card. I stamped the "Noel" in red stazon on the foil but it didn't show up well. However, it showed up just well enough, and left a slight impression so that I was able to trace over it with a glittery red gelly roll pen. I colored the holly with alcohol inks by dipping a brush in blending solution and picking up ink off my nonstick mat. I had fun with this. Oh, and FYI, I had no steel wool so I used a new, dry SOS pad and wiped away the soap bits that were left behind.
Thanks so much for the 2nd chance! I played all day! |
