I used to see Kimber's sketch challenges all the time. There were a few after that, but I can't seem to find any ongoing weekly sketch challenges. Am I missing them, or did they stop? I really enjoyed seeing those, and they were always an inspiration to get a card done.

Kimber is no longer a garden girl. Her sketches were awesome. We are running our own sketch challenges now, do you want to host one? I will give you the link to the master thread...

Heidi & Sophi. I believe a couple of StamPeas were planning to do a March sketch, but they may be having tech problems. Those pesky gremlins seem to be hanging on here @ 2Ps.
But, Long as we're talking 'sketches' (& Sophi's thread gives us a readymade thread), it might be fun to discuss the kind of sketches we'd like to see being offered (or are interested in offering as hosts).
With all the tags so many of us are doing these days, I'd like to see some sketches that are specific for tags.
I also like sketches that aren't just composition. Sometimes it's fun when the sketch includes directions for specific folds & such--like gatefolds, popups, etc.
How 'bout y'all? Any sketch 'ideas'?

When I look at a sketch, I want to use a sketch for stamping images. So a sketch might be good for a large image, or a bunch of small images.
I really like the idea of a sketch for a card fold. A very simple sketch of a gatefold card would really work.
Not a fold, but a "window" card would be fun. You could have the sketch and the host could decide whether the actual window was a requirement or if you would feel free to build another way. Personally I would like a choice.
That being said, one thing about sketches that I like is that they are a starting point and are very flexible (usually). I'm not usually looking for a sketch with a lot of requirements and limitations for me. I usually like that I can do what I want, with a lot of help from the sketch!

Are techniques ever included in sketches?
I am new to sketches since my only experience with sketches were the ones Kimber did. I always thought the point of sketches were just to follow the composition of a card---through doing maybe similar colors, or position of elements on the card, but I do not recall a specific technique used for a sketch---say doing stamp kissing like in Heidi's WF13 challenge.
So do sketches not involve techniques?

I think most of the challenges and swaps currently have extensive room for flexibility.
For me I would like to see sketch challenge stay focused on the layout as presented. The creativity comes in making the presented sketch work. When everyone does their own redesign, it feels like we truly do not have a comparison. Kinda like making 3 cards with the same stamp set...and using different stamps.
Melissa-traditionally sketches only focus on layout...and players can do anything they choose in presenting that layout. Techniques are often presented as swaps so players can actually see the results IRL.
