Today is the 'Run for the Roses' @ Churhill Downs. So I thot we might have some fun.

Here's what you have to do to get in the 'running':

1. Link a project (old or new) that is somehow Kentucky Derby 'related'. If you use an old piece, it must be your own--not another's.
2. Tell us how your piece is Derby-related. 'Sok if the relationship is a (home)stretch! It'll do our brains good to exercise.

I'll start things off with an old project.

Relationship to the Derby?

The Derby's official song is "My Old Kentucky Home". I think the cabin looks like one my ancester Dan'l would have lived in in Olde Kentucky.

Heart Tag

Ok, this is a stretch, but it could be the brim of a hat... you know... all the fancy hats they do! LOL

Daniel, what a cute cabin in your project!

Kathy, I love your way of thinking about the hats!

That got me thinking of this lady: Lady in Kentucky Derby Outfit???

Love seeing all the 'repurposed' projects & how they are Derby-related.

The weather @ Churchill Downs was soggy yesterday, so the ladies' hats were probably damp. But I'm sure they kept their spirits up with a julep or 2...

Inspired by y'all, I'll throw my 'Derby Hat' in the ring.

Still plenty of time to join the challenge, folks.

Glad to see we're leaving comments on one-another's pieces, as well as the thread.

Neglected to share that I didn't watch the race. Mom did, but (LOL) admitted she couldn't remember the winner. she gave me a 'look' when I asked if it was a horse. Couldn't resist, but someday I'll learn.

WTG, Marshia! You 'win' 'cause you 'placed' to 'show'!

As I said in my praise, that PP is terrific & I love the mare & colt/filly stamp & coloring.

Thanks for playing!

I was out of town last weekend so I couldn't play, but I sure enjoyed looking at all of the submissions. Nice challenge, Daniel.
