I'm back! Thanks so much Daria for hosting July! I looked through the challenge posts and was awed by the participation and the creativity!

I hope you can keep that mojo movin'

August's challenge should you choose to accept is :
Use red, or green, but not red and green! So I'm thinking a mostly monochromatic red card or a monochromatic green card. Doesn't have to be strictly monochromatic, I'm easy!

Or as always, you can do your own thing! Please upload your creations to the stamping gallery and link them up here.

Some of you have a really nice stash of Christmas cards growing by now. If not, it is never to late to start. You'll be glad you did when December rolls around!

Have fun!

Hi Cindi! Welcome back! Monochromatic sounds like a nice idea for Christmas cards. Thanks for hosting! My goal, as usual, is 5.

Welcome back, Cindi!

I don't know about the monochromatic red or green. I still have those poinsettias to color and put together. LOL.

I'll come up with something!

No problem Daria! The challenge is just there if you need a jump start.

Heidi's watercolor Christmas tree was one of the cards that inspired the monochromatic red or green idea.

The gingham ornament card I just made at an SU Stamp a Stack is monochromatic red, and the tree card could easily be monochromatic green by replacing the red ribbon with green or white.

Chalkboard Christmas

One card today, although I may repeat the chalkboard effect with this stamp as I really think it works well for that look.

Not monochromatic, but just two colors, really...Maybe three if you get really technical about it...

This was quick to come up with because I used part of the same design as for one of my July cards, but altered it a little, in how the card was constructed, and eliminated any green from the colour palate. It isn't monochromatic but does use only one of the two traditional Christmas colours.

I had some time yesterday to finish up some cards I had started. I've had these images colored for about a month but I just haven't had the time to get them made into cards, here they all are!

I'm still playing catch up with my goals but I'm getting there.
I've even got a couple in the works for this months prompt. I love monochromatic cards. Thank you Cindi for hosting these! It's been nice to get a head start on my cards

It's been dark and rainy here, so my pics are a bit dark.

Gardencat asked

Did you use embossing powder or just white ink ( and if just ink, what kind? Because I've never found a white ink that gave such striking results)

I used Michael's Recollections brand embossing powder in 'Snow' over Colorbox 'Snow Cap' white ink. I like the Recollections product a lot, better than some of the more prevalent brands.
Like you, I've never found a white ink that stands well on it's own, most go semi-transparent when dry.

And in the comments of this post All White_Christmas Gratefulpea asked

Who manufacturers Stardust embossing powder??
It's Stampendous! 'Stampin Stuff' Item # EP040

Thank you both for asking and for taking the time to comment. ~Marshia

I just posted two cards. Angela's All White Card Challenge got me going, and I finally used some of the Tattered Poinsettia pieces I die cut two or three months ago.

White-on-White Tattered Poinsettias

Cindi, thanks for the challenge. Hopefully, I'm not finished yet for the month. I plan to make a few more cards.

This isn't a Christmas card, but I was inspired by this challenge to make it, so thought I'd link it here:

I loved this month's prompt and was inspired straight away! (although the actual execution took a bit longer - lol)

My, my, my you are creative women! I'm sorry it took me so long to catch up, but I have, and I'm impressed! It's been a super inspiring trip through this thread.

I'm so glad you are making and posting all white cards too. When I saw that challenge, my first thought was "wedding". Gorgeous for Christmas!

I was able to escape the South Florida heat for all of July and a week in August. I was in the Colorado mountains in July while my husband worked. I brought stamping stuff, but it was just too beautiful outside to sit in the hotel room and stamp. I did a lot of walking/hiking and I learned to knit at a local shop. My husband has this thing for 14ers, mountains over 14,000' high, so we hiked another one! Mount Quandary. There were real live mountain goats at the top! It was grueling, but the goats and the view from the top made it worthwhile (still, I never want to do it again!)! When we got hailed on and rained on all the way down, I wanted to pick up a rock and throw it and scream, "are we having fun yet?"! Heeheehee! He made me promise not to whine, but I'm sure I probably did, just a little . My daughter and her dog drove up from Denver and did it with us. She didn't seem near as winded as I was! Made it look like a piece of cake, humph! The 2nd week in August we spent in upstate NY for my highschool reunion. Yes, I'm old, it's been 35 years!! Saw quite a few friends and had family time too. Should be home for awhile now with no excuses for not stamping!

Thanks for keeping this challenge going, with and without me!

There have been so many fantastic cards this month!

I've been trying to go back this evening and leave comments on them all.

Daria, WTG on 43 cards!
I am kicking myself for passing on that poinsettia die at a yardsale a while back. What was I thinking!

Cindi, sounds like you had a great trip!

I'm loving the monochromatic prompt this month. I haven't done many projects but its so fun. I plan to do this scheme more

I made another poinsettia card. This one is going to be for my nephew. I like the way it turned out, and I think it's perfect for a guy card. Tattered Poinsettia Card

This time I noticed that after embossing the petals, I needed to do some trimming here and there. The embossed design is a bit more intricate than the die-cut design. It was easy to just make a couple of snips to improve the appearance of the petals. I didn't even notice that when I made the white cards.

Quite a while back, I bought Core'dinations Tim Holtz/Ranger Collections. I think this is the first time I used one of the kraft core pieces, and I was happy with the way it turned out. I think I was influenced by reading through Christin's Border Challenge Thread.

I still have more Tattered Poinsettia die cuts.

I combined with the All White challenge to make one card today. Not much more monochromatic than white, right?

http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/member/540243-howdyheidi/1945541-all-white-challenge-christmas/

So, I need to make 3 more cards in the next 24 hours to meet my goal. hmmm.
I would love to try a traditional monochromatic card...

Phew! Got at least one more card in for the month and actually followed my own prompt this time

I gave a little extra attention to the border for Christinmay's challenge. Nothing fancy, but I had a Cuttlebug embossing folder that fit my card style. Thanks for the push Christin!

Terrific cards this month!

I love your card, Cindi. Zindorf posted a card in our gallery where she used that embossing folder over the entire card, and I ordered one for myself right away. Love the effect. It's the one I used on one of my white poinsettia cards. Zindorf's card

I only finished three cards this month, but . . . I also finished the card that was missing a ribbon wreath. I found just the right ribbon at a small stamp store in Fairfield--Mainely Stamping. Yes, that's the way they spell it. One of the owners is from Maine.

My total so far is 44 Christmas cards!
