Ever want to take your stamping magic to another level? Here's your chance!

Please read the challenge blog before asking questions. If there is something you're not sure about after reading the blog feel free to ask your question(s) on the thread.

Although I'm doing this as a challenge, you may wish to be kind to a fellow StamPea & provide them with a doll they might find useful for any number of reasons. Should you choose to go that route, PM your friend & ask them for a mailing address.

Should you recieve an unsolicited 'VDD' in your mail? Throw salt & sugar on the envelope. Hop on one foot for 3 minutes & check the return address so you can return the 'kindness'!

Absolutely, Heidi! You can even use photo parts long as you stamp on them.

BTW? Love the 'evil' laugh! As they say...You's folks, pal!

I knew I bought those four unmounted sheets of lifelike and whimsical body parts for some reason. Now that they've aged for about fives years I can use them.

Funny thing, when I was cleaning out unmounteds awhile back, I almost sent them to you Daniel. Good thing I didn't.

I can see I'm in for a weird and creepy month. I spent a good part of the weekend in the garden, searching for spiders, now Daniel is going to have me wandering around my workroom looking for body parts...and it isn't even October.

This challenge will definitely add to our 'body-of-work'.

Hooray for those of us with 'body part' stamps, but we all have stamps (& parts of stamps) we can use to build our dolls. Think creatively. Tree limbs might make good legs or arms, for instance. A birdcage body?. Get the idea?

LOL, April! Although this is a challenge, I would be pleased to send you magical dolly. Thanks for asking.

Just in case any potential challengees are wondering?...

There will be no sample(s) for this challenge from its host.

Darn! Gotta go check on our supper. I'm making soup & ran out of powdered wolfsbane. Hoping majorum & poultry seasoning will work.

April. I 'have' to send it to someone so it can be scanned and I did say in my set-up that we could send our dolls to a friend if they wanted one. So the 'joke's on you'--watch your mailbox.

Now! With that out of the way, this is still a basic challenge. You are not required to send your doll to another player. If you choose to do so, you may say yours is 'shareable' in a post to our thread. OK? Otherwise just do the standard share to the blog & thread.

Cool beans, 'Ruby'!

I've begun my VDD & even have an idea for a 'cover card' to put it in since my pal April bravely requested I send it to her.

Can't wait to say "Hello, Dolly" when y'all start sharing yours with us.

And don't feel your VDD has to be 'scary'. Feel free to go 'cute', 'strange' & whatever leads you on.

And while I will miss seeing 'Beady's' doll, I know she'll be watching for them, too!

I'm making lots of progress on my VDD. It isn't particularly scary-looking, but it's definitely strange (like it's creator ).

One fun aspect of creating a 'doll' from (mostly) stamped images (or parts of whole images) is that there's just enough framework (head, body, arms & legs) to help my focus, but complete freedom to play within that framework.

Hope those of you taking this challenge are enjoying the 'process'.

'crashed & burned', Ruby? LOL! You have to be so careful with some magical ingredients--so flamable. I keep my powdered adder's tongue in a coffee can I buried in the backyard. I like to add a pinch to some dishes when I host a dinner party. Adds interest to meal...

My VDD is done. Still have to deal with the pins & cover, but I've been playing with it--hesitate to call it a 'her'--for a bit. I made it jointed (not required) & posing it has been such fun.

Fair warning, April! You might want to keep the kids away from this 'mover'--at least until you have a chance to play with it first.

Yours is jointed, Daniel? Oh you're going to have us all in a frenzy of anticipation. I think I'd like to play with some things - dragging out stuff today. I'm stumped with pins. We'll see...but this is a terrific challenge!

Daniel, it was mine (CG) that crashed and burned My 4 year old said, "well, it died!!" and threw it in the trash Then we started over

I've really enjoyed this challenge. As I've said before, I'm new to stamping and this has forced me to rethink how my stamps can be used.

Oooh I may not want to share your magical dolly with the kiddos! There are no rules that says I have to share! I can picture them chasing me and me yelling "mine, mine, mine!!"

LOL, Molly. You know I'm a real 'cut up' so I had to do joints for my doll!

Don't sweat the 'pins'! They are not a requirement for the challenge. But a nice touch for those who want to use them.

Years ago, I was able to buy several pounds (yes pounds!) of the little pins that mfrs used in packaging shirts & such for mere pennies.

But back to jointed VDDs. I used mini brads for mine, but there are tons of possibilities--thread, string, ribbon, yarn & more.

Remember, too! You do not have to make a cutout doll. You can just stamp it on a 'card'. Whatever works for you!

LOL, GC! I'm suggesting a minimum of 2 arms & legs, but feel free to be creative with the 'limbs'.

I doubt that helps, but such is life, pal.

I made my 'doll holder'. It's not a card per se, but it's very cool--ifidosaysomyself!

Ha! I am well on my way.

I was struggling with this and then, this afternoon, I kind of turned my approach on it's head and suddenly I knew what I was going to do. It may not be excatly what you expected or intended but, to borrow a phrase from a wise person on this very board, "such is life, pal".

I still have to find one thing to use as a prop but, apart from that it is coming together nicely ( well at least until I make some sort of goof).

WTG, GC! Ain't it fun when we get a flash like yours? And I don't mind some goofs when I make them, but love all us goofy stampers.

I had a 'flash' of my own this morning. I want to add some pins along with my VDD (not required). Glanced @ a punchout lying on my desk & suddenly knew how to do it in a super simple way.

I should have my VDD in tomorrow's mail.

Great doll, Daniel, I've never heard of Sunday International but I love the stamps you used. Those sort of triple leg of mutton sleeves are to die for as are, what appear to be a set of strong circus performer legs.

Yes. This has been a fun challenge. I'm looking forward to seeing more dollies join the lineup.

As has been pointed out, these are 'art dolls'. It's a neat way to play with stamping. I have an idea for another doll challenge & might run it during Sept.

'GC'. Not sure the stamps are 'SI'--that id is not on the package backing. But Sunday Int. was the first mfr I found back in the early '90s that sold unmounted rubber. Since then, I've found lots more mfrs/retailers who do.

Kudoes to April for the great pix. Funny aside... April shared that DS (4) said 'Woo' & wanted to play with it. DD (14) said 'Creepy. Can I have it?' My kind of kids!

Daniel, my DD is still trying to snatch little dolly!! On the upside, little dolly has lots of teenage admirers

I just checked out the entries for this challenge. What a creative bunch

I have looked at my stamps and not sure I have much to work with for this. I'm gonna see what I might be able to come up with, if anything. I have some diecuts I might be able to utilize.

This may be the creepiest thing I've ever made!

I used 3 different images to create my doll. I tried to upload those too but it took at least 20 minutes just to get one pic uploaded, so I will try that later.

Here he/she? is. Thanks for the challenge Daniel. This defintely was a challenge to create!
