Broken or Missing Links: How to Find What You're Looking For

How to Find The List of Blogs Offering Challenges

In Case of a Two Pea Outage: Save the blog entries to the challenges that interest you the most on your computer. That way you'll have the instructions if Two Peas becomes overwhelmed with the increased traffic caused by our event. We sometimes lose contact with Two Peas on Opening Day for a little while. Just keep checking back. If you have saved some of the challenges, you'll be able to work on them while waiting for the board to revive.

ABOUT POSTING A CHALLENGE IN YOUR BLOG

Don't let the word blog scare you away. We're not talking about a BLOG with all the bells and whistles. We're talking about a little blog. We all have one here on Two Peas. Posting there is much the same as posting in a thread.
1. At the very top of the screen on the right side, use your mouse to hover above your user name. A window will open up. Click on Blog.
2. Put in the title of your Challenge. Begin with SOF13, no spaces. That way all Stamptoberfest Challenge Boxes will be together, and participants will be able to find them easily.
3. The next line says Post Type. Click on the down arrow, and select CHALLENGE.
4. After selecting Challenge, another line will open up. This is where you put the starting date (09/12/13) and the ending date (09/21/13). Actually, when you go to the blank space to input the date, a calendar will open up and you can just click on the correct date. Note: It's never too late to start a challenge, so if you get an idea for a challenge in the middle of Stamptoberfest, go ahead and post it. You can also post a challenge for just a day or two; just change the dates accordingly.
5. Now, in the box under "Post Content," just write out your challenge. If the board is slow, you might have to wait for the Content Box to open. Start out with the opening and closing dates because the dates you just submitted only tell Two Peas when to open and close your challenge's checkbox. The people reading your challenge won't see those dates.
6. If you posted samples in the gallery, you can link them here. Also it's a good idea to link your Challenge Discussion Thread.
7. When you post your Challenge Discussion Thread on the message board, include a link to your blog. Use the URL for your challenge, not for the opening page of the blog. If you are in the right place, you'll see "You are viewing a single post. Click here to visit ___'s Blog." right above the box with your message. If you don't see that message, then click on the title of your challenge to take you to that page.
8. Maria (Furry Pea) has created a format for posting our blog challenges. Basically, she's suggesting we use bold-face type for headings, and we all use the same headings. That way, we could easily find the information we are looking for. Here's a link to her "test format."

ABOUT POSTING IN THE GALLERY

1. To post your project, put your cursor over GALLERY at the top of the screen. Select the option UPLOAD A NEW PROJECT. (The edit option is to the right of your posted card, under the Action section.)
2. Follow the step-by-step directions. Be sure to select the Stamping Gallery.
3. Give your project a title. For Stamptoberfest 2013, put SOF13, no spaces at the start of your title and include what challenge it's for. For example, SOF13 Serendipity Challenge.
4. Be sure to describe your project in the comments section. If possible, include the source of your stamps. Tell what coloring medium and technique you used.
5. Once you have posted your project in the Stamping Gallery, go to the Challenge Discussion Thread and post a link to your gallery post; this will put the Discussion Thread back to the top of the board and assure that it doesn't drop out of sight. This step will keep the Challenge Discussion Threads circulating. The Challenge Discussion Thread is also the place to ask questions and to chat with other participants about the challenge.

Here are some questions that have come up in the past. The advice came from several different people.

Why isn't my post showing up in the gallery?
Two Peas says to allow 5-10 minutes for your post to show up. Usually, it takes seconds, but when a lot of people are posting at the same time like we do during our events, it may take longer.

The number under my badge doesn't reflect all the posts I've made.
This number doesn't update immediately. Also, it does not include comments you leave in the gallery. The badges are for fun; the number isn’t always right.

I just noticed that my signature isn't showing and I can't see anyone else's either.
At the bottom of this thread, in the lower right corner, is a toggle that says "Show/Hide Signatures". Click it once and see if your siggies re-appear.

On the two blogs that I have been working on, I have uploaded the URL at the top of the page - these are the wrong URL's for the challenge. They are the URL for blog under "My account" and include not the right information.

Where do I find the URL to use?

Way up at the top of your screen on the right side, use the mouse to hover over your user name. Click on Blog. Now you're in your blog. If you have already posted your challenge, you'll see it there, BUT this is not the right place yet. Do not use the address that you see in the address bar at the top of the screen.

Click on the title of your challenge. This will take you to the right place. Right above the box where you have posted your challenge, you should see the words "You are viewing a single post. Click here to visit ___'s Blog." If you see those words, you're in the right place.

Now you can highlight the address that's in the bar at the top of the screen. That's the one you use when linking to your blog.

I've created a challenge blog but can't figure out how to get the image of my sample card on it.

Your card has to be online somewhere, for example, in the Two Peas Gallery.

1. Go to your card and right click on it.
2. Select Properties from the window that opens, and click on that.
3. Put your cursor over the URL address (toward the center of the box) and highlight it.
4. Keeping your cursor over the highlighted address, right click again, and click on Copy from the list that opens up.

OK, almost done.

5. Go to your blog and click Edit. Find the icon for Image. Just move your cursor over the different icons at the top of the page above your message until you find the one that says Image, and click on it.
6. In the window that opens up, put your cursor in the section for the URL; right click again, and this time click on Paste from the list.
7. Either click OK or adjust the size of your card. I had to reduce the size of mine by half.

I hope I didn't leave anything out. It's easier to do than it is to read the directions.

I've noticed that everyone (except me) can post a link on their blog and give it a title so the entire URL doesn't show up, and the title just fits right in with the message--the way they do in message board posts.

How are you doing that? When I click on LINK, it opens a box and I can put the URL in, but there's no way to name it.

Yesterday when I did my blog I struggled with the same issue of the long and ugly links. I pea-mailed Cindi, who helped me. It is real easy:

1.First type the name of the link in your blog (like 'sample card'). That is, the title you want to give the link (the clickable words).
2.Highlight the word/s that should be clickable, then go to the link icon.
3.Put the URL into the little box. Click 'ok'. And magically the title you wrote in your blog becomes the link.

Got a gallery question. Is there a way to see all the WF11 gallery uploads without going to each individual challenge? I'm hoping there's a simple way to see all the WF11 pieces from all the challenges.

I just went to the gallery and searched on 'WF11'. Everything submitted with that in the title showed up. Hopefully people are putting that in their titles or I will probably miss them.
[ETA--For the current event, search for SOF13.]

This post is about working around broken links. I'm so happy that we have solutions so that we can still access our old threads and gallery posts. Read on.

Here's a wonderful piece of advice that I recently received. It's a way to access old threads that I thought were lost to me.

My comment:
I wish Two Peas could fix the links so that they worked. Whenever ownership changes, so does the URL. A lot of our old links have a word in them that no longer belongs there. Two Peas tried to make it disappear automatically. I think that might even work for some people, but it doesn't for me. Plus, I can't manually remove it because my computer is too quick to diagnose the problem and brings up a new page to let me know about it. Therefore, the URL to the info page replaces the one I put in, and the original one is beyond my reach. That is the only thing this old computer does quickly. Darn.

Furry Pea's advice:

Hey Miss Daria.... I know it is a lot of work, but if you or anyone else is interested:

Right-click on the link
Click on Properties
Copy the URL
Paste in your browser
Remove: kaboose (plus the extra "dot"
Hit enter

>>>>>>>>> gets you to the page you want!

This is easy to do, and now I can access the old threads I wanted to see. Maria wrote me again and suggested I save the fixed links to the threads I wanted to revisit so I wouldn't have to repeat the process again.

Thank you, Maria.

Daria

I asked Matt in the Service Center: Many old links to gallery posts no longer work. How can I access our old posts? Then I gave an example to a link to a specific Christmas card as an example.

Matt answered:

If you're wanting to go to the project page of that christmas card, all you have to do is hover over it to see the link that it would be directing you to. That particular link looks like this: https://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?gallery=3&cmd=display&layout_id=441935

The project ID for it is the number right at the end, 441935. Simply go to the gallery home page, and enter than number into the search field. The project should come right up!

It works!

As always, Daria has covered a lot of good stuff with her SOF threads.

Since site difficulties are always a possibility--and not just on 2Ps--I have found that being able to connect with a few fellow StamPeas by e-mail can be very useful. It allows us to check with others & see if they are having site problems. Sometimes the problem IS our own computer.

I'm sure many of us would be happy to trade e-mail addys. Ask by doing a PM & please don't share your email address on a thread. Best to keep them private as we can, hain't?

Just in case there are more questions, I thought I'd put this back to the top of the board.

Got a question about the current SOF13 badge...

Any idea why I don't have even 1? I have 2 Challenges (both acknowdged by Jamie) & have been leaving praise on projects. When I check my profile there is no SOF13 among all my earned badges.

I'm not concerned with the number I earn, but would like at least one. Any suggestions? Service ticket or PM Jaime?

Thanx for any suggestions or info.

ETA: I just PM'd Jamie with my question, but still interested in hearing from other Peas about the matter.

I think this year the badge is only for posting projects to the blog. Too bad it isn't for praise too, for those who aren't able to be involved otherwise.

Thanks, Heidi. I'm actually hoping this is a glitch. Past badges were always earned for several party activities--hosting, praising, etc.

I'll be sorry if that is no longer true. When I hear from Jamie, I'll be sure to post.

I agree Heidi the count must be for gallery posts only. And unfortunately I am not seeing that it is counting when more that 1 challenge is covered in a single post.

All in all I can not determine how it is meaning information for us.

Yeah, I've noticed that the badge is only for projects posted in the gallery this time. You can only earn one per post. That's the way it was in the beginning.

I also wish that people could earn their badges by hosting and praising.

Daniel, I checked your gallery and don't see any posts since SOF13 opened on 10/12. Your sample card, like mine, was posted on the 11th. I went back to my challenge blog and changed the opening date to the 11th and clicked the challenge blog box in the gallery, but I wasn't able to sneak in through the back door. It didn't work. The only badge I have is for the the gallery post I put yesterday.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not upset if I end up badgeless. It's still a fun party.

Just got a lovely PM from 'our' Jamie!

She shared that badges are, indeed, earned by entering SOF13 challenges, but not for praising. She shared that setting up a program to 'badge-for-praise' was complicated & she was unable to do that for this party.

Jamie also shared that she thot we could earn badges by posting to our forum during SOF13. I'm thinking that may not be correct, but she's going to check--bless her!

I noticed my badge count is much higher today, I think my message board posts are counting towards this now.

I noticed that all of us on this thread have more badges. I wonder if Jamie just did that manually. I hope not. That would have taken time.

Like Daniel, I just wanted one to show that I participated.
