CREATE a new card project that is a single-layer card. This can be a folded card OR a postcard style card. Your card may be any color of cardstock/paper. Include stamping in your project.

You may (but don't have to) use embellishments such as rhinestones, ribbon, pearls, buttons, wood veneer, washi tape etc.

Please see the All in One Challenge Blog for complete details including how to post, samples and RAK.

NOTE: I want to be a tiny bit lenient on the one-layer aspect (since I know I can need a lot of chances to to stamp cleanly) so I WILL ALSO accept a card like this one where the panel is placed on a card of the same color with only a small border around.

I hope you might want to try this challenge and have fun with it!

If you want more ideas of fun Single Layer cards (aka one layer cards), just search Pinterest or the gallery. There are some amazing ones there. Although they trend toward Clean and Simple, they are not all that style!

Thanks Ladies! I realized that it is out of the comfort zone of many (including me!) but what I really love about it is the focus I have on stamping and stamping techniques when I am making a one layer card. That is why I thought it would be a good challenge for SOF.

Can't wait to see what you come up with!!!!!

I'm on this one Heidi!!! I have the PERFECT stamp set for this one.

And oh, did I happen to mention that DH is on the road and DS is at a party tonight? I've got the place to myself, as long as I clean up the HUGE mess I'm going to make before 11:00, nobody will ever know what went on in here....mwuahahahaha...that's supposed to sound like an evil laugh.

I belong to the group that finds one-layer cards very difficult. When I have made them in the past, I usually end up re-making them by adding mats. I'm glad that you are allowing minor embellishments and one same-color mat. I like that look.

I do love clean and simple cards, and I've seen some wonderful ones in the gallery. Your sample cards show a lot of ways to make this work.

Thanks for the challenge and the ideas.

This is a fantastic challenge, Heidi!

I really struggle with one-layer cards and even more so with the clean ad simple look.

I browsed Pinterest last night and saw a ton of great single layer cards.

I even snuck in a little crafty time last night and worked on a card for your challenge. I hope I can finish and upload it today

LOL, Heidi! Good thing I reread your blog. I see 'tags' are not an option. Darn! 'Sok! I still plan to play.

Time to break out the masks, stencils & more.

Yes. It's easy to get comfortable doing layering--especially with fussy cutting. Your challenge is a good chance for me to go back to my stamping roots.

Your samples are terrific & AJ's entry is great!

Daniel, it was a tough decision on what types of projects to allow for this challenge. Thanks for being understanding.

You know, I thought everyone practiced the stamping on scrap paper before making a card. I do that pretty much no matter what style card I am doing.

It took some creative thinking. The original plan was just the blue/purple label with the Nativity sans angel and the sentiment. So it would have just been your challenge and Anna-Karin's stencil challenge. I think it was one of Anna-Karin's tutorials that got me thinking about the frame and it snowballed from there.

Just tried to add one but for some reason it won't post...grrr...are the glitches back?

Oops just checked and it is there now...well, hooray!

Here is the link Chasing Snow Card

This was fun. My card is really simple. I did think about adding some more bling or embellishment of some kind but it seemed to me that nothing I could think of quite fit with the style of the image so I decided to leave well enough alone and let it just be simple.

Finally got a picture of the card I made Sunday.

I am not thrilled with my card. One layer cards are tough!

This looked better in my head.

The Stickles on the seahorses are purple, orange, green, and light blue. The Stickles on the bubbles are clear. The light blue and clear ended up looking the same on the blue background.

Here is my card:

Ooh, creating a one layer card is stressful!

Here's my Peter Rabbit Autumn card .

I forgot to mention in the description that I inked the edges with orange Distress Ink (both directly from the pad AND with the applicator), and that made a huge difference to it's look (in a good way).

I also wanted to mention that using watercolours is good for this one-layer method, cause it's fairly easy to brush off mistakes with water (I did this a bit with the leaves).

Thanks for a challenging challenge, Heidi!

Christin, I agree that watercolor on watercolor paper is a good idea for one layer cards! Good tip!
