Challenge details on 2P blog

NSPIRD =INSPIRE
I hope my title for this challenge reminds you that inspiration is about finding great ideas and recreating them into your own personal style.

Have you ever posted gallery comments and thought now I need to remember to try that But somehow you haven't found time to do that yet. This challenge provides time for you to go back to 2 favorites and recreate them in your own style. Thanks for considering this challenge!

This is the discussion thread for the NSPIRD Challenge.

Here are a couple beginning discussion topics:
1. Describe your stamping style.
2. The internet is filled with tons of inspiration. How do you keep track of ideas you would like to return to?

My Stamping style-Generally I start with white paper and do not use any printed paper. I do not color with markers. I do use lots of different coloring techniques and a wide variety of medium. My stamping often has a nature focus in a scene-like look. Card making is a main focus of my work. However, I dabble in combining stamping with lots of materials beyond paper and have a large stash of materials to alter.

Tracking inspirational ideas-Until recently I was able to keep what I wanted in my mind. But now with so many more ideas on the Internet I do not find it so easy. I have started to use the gallery bookmarks but that is about all. I am looking for some idea pearls from other stamping peas.

What a great challenge, Jan. I've got a ton of bookmarks of things in the 2peas gallery I want to try that I never seem to get around to.

1) I'm really not sure how to describe my stamping style.

2) I've got a ton of websites bookmarked in my favorites with ideas for future cards.

This is a great challenge.

I keep track of crafty inspiration here on twopeas by liking and bookmarking, on Pinterest (more and more) and I have a "crafty to do" list in the short term where I try to mark down what I want to do.

Sarah, so glad to hear you already have some bookmarked items in the gallery!
No problem that you are not ready to describe your style but it might be something to think about during Winterfest. Those of us who love playing challenges and in doing so we often adapt from our favorites. So this is just describing what we like to do and perhaps what you don't generally do in your stamping.

Anne, so sorry we won't be able to see your lovely work this event but so good that you will be around.

I was intrigued by the thread name, and had to stop in and see what was being discussed!

1. Describe your stamping style.
2. The internet is filled with tons of inspiration. How do you keep track of ideas you would like to return to?

#1 - Lately, I have been much more of a stamp collector rather than a stamper, but I have made it a New Year's resolution to do more stamping in 2014.

#2 - short answer: Pinterest. I have a huge pinboard, and add to it often!

My stamping style? Wish I knew. I think it would be great to have a style so people could look at my projects and say "hey that looks like a gardencat card." but sadly I think I like too many different things and keep flipping around in what I turn out. About the most I can say is that in general I think I tend towards soft or more neutral colours rather than the really bold primary ones, but that is hardly a style.

How do I keep track of inspiration? Not very well. Mostly I don't bookmark things or try to return to them I just make a mental note and, somewhere down the line, may find what I have seen, giving me an idea when I am working on another project, without me making a conscious effort to copy the original.

For this challenge, for instance, even though we weren't combining challenges, the fact that I had just been thinking about the Mask your Stamp and the Get Glitzy challenges probably influenced my use of glitter and the idea to mask and use the top row of the heart stamp on the border.

Here is the card I made

Heart Cookies Scrappling

And here are the two other cards that inspired me and started me down the road to making it:

]Inspiration 1

]Inspiration 2

So sorry Heidi to hear you hit a rough bump with this one! I think you made a smart choice to start again. So often we fight it too hard and our initial idea never comes together like we hope. I do hope this 2nd one works out for you!

Here is my entry for this challenge. I chose a current project of eagertoretire: here and an old card sketch of Kimber's. I like the shaped and color in Marshia's and the two half circles in the card sketch.

This was fun! Thanks for the challenge!

Hey vroni! ...I must have gotten interrupted when I was looking at your gallery post since I also didn't post here. Please know I enjoyed your entry and sorry I didn't let you know earlier.

Linda, I also enjoyed your layout earlier in the week. I hope you enjoyed playing in Winterfest.

This card was inspired by the following 2 Peas Cards:
1. http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/member/180052-ottersln/1393607-live-with-passion/ [twopeasinabucket.com]
2. http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/member/540243-howdyheidi/1938725-photo-inspiration-7-watercolor-background/ [twopeasinabucket.com]

I got the chance to stamp using the Live with Passion sentiment and flower. I wanted a way to add some emphasis to the card and chose color smears. I created mine by just applying the ink pad to the card. I then stamped my flowers in black in and used the same color ink for the sentiment. I stamped everything onto white card stock and then adhered it black card front. Loved the inspiration cards that inspired my card.

Inspired Live With Passion Card

Question Responses:

1. Describe your stamping style - I tend to be simple and lately wanting to color everything in with colored pencil or copics.
2. The internet is filled with tons of inspiration. How do you keep track of ideas you would like to return to? I bookmark them on 2 peas, add as favorites to facebook or pin it on pinterest. I also keep a word document or a notebook handy. I also go searching for ideas when I have a specific project in mind and use the inspiration as I seek it out.

I'm still a bit unsure of my stamping style. It's a little kitchen sink, I suppose! I'm always drawn to bold colors.

I got inspiration from a card from Prospurring and our most wonderful challenge hostess, Jan!!

Here's Anne's card-
Anne's card

and here's Jan's card-
Jan's card

I really loved the bold blue background on Anne's piece. It really stood out and I loved the white stamping on it.

For Jan's card, I loved all of the different images she used and how cohesive it felt. I loved the butterfly images and all of the colors.

I'm always inspired at how they both use distress inks.

So here's
my NSPIRD card

I get lots of inspiration from our gallery here and Pinterest.
Doing this challenge has made me realize I need to use the like and bookmark feature much more often.

Thanks again, Jan! This was a fabulous challenge.
