What a cool technique Jan. I can't wait to give it a try.

I've got a question, will pigment ink re-inker not work? You blog says to use dye ink re-ink but I'm pretty sure I only have pigment ink re-inker at home. Not that I'm against buying more stuff, but I'm trying not to.

Jan, I'm thinking Christmas cards! I've done this technique before but never with stamping on the tissue. That adds such a wonderful dimension. I appreciate your tips; I've had problems with the acetate sticking to my stamp, and I've had some very blurred images even without the sticking problem. I'll try your 3-second suggestion. Cool challenge!

Yippy, glad some folks are up for another fun technique Daria, I too thought about Christmas cards since I never use this technique on them and they do provide that extra sparkle.

Sarah, pigment inks are designed to be opaque as opposed to the dye inks that are more translucent. So I believe that is why the instructions call for dye inks. But I've never experimented with that so you might give it try before buying.

Daria, you are right about getting a good image with StazOn on acetate, it can be a little tricky at times. That tip initially was shared by Tsukineko when stamping on acetate became popular. Lots of experienced stampers use image stamps with a very fast stamp on, stamp off motion. Naturally we move the stamp towards us went removing it from our paper. Slowing down provides us with a few seconds to press on the stamp and think about the straight up motion. StazOn dries in 3-5 seconds on the non-porous surface. Always good to first do a few trials on some packaging scraps.

Too funny Sadie because I had no plans to host another challenge until just the other day! So I guess this will be our serendipity challenge

Truly the hardest thing for this challenge is to get all your supplies together. After that everything goes rather quickly and hopefully smoothly too!

I posted a card made with my 1st inspiration focal piece for this challenge. I appreciate Heidi's challenge to give me inspiration for this card. If you haven't looked at Heidi challenge she shared many sketches.

Unfortunately I had a really difficult time capturing the focal image as I shared initially on my blog. Nonetheless you see 1 way to use such a narrow focal image.

I cannot find the acetate sheet I had from some packaging. I am thinking of trying this on a piece of clear shrink plastic.

Heidi, I would think the shrink plastic would work...basically one needs to be able to see thru it and stamp on it. My thought is it isn't suggested since it's a little more expensive being a specialty product.

Well I got the background part done but it is sitting in a curly mess waiting for me to do something with it. Hopefully I will get it straightened out and put on something. It looks pretty but like I said it is a curly mess. I am sure my scanner won't show the wonderfulness that Far North helped me create with this challenge but I will try and get it done tonight.

I made a piece today. It's drying. However, I made two mistakes. #1. I stamped the image in dark green instead of black. It definitely needs to be black. #2. I forgot the glitter until after I had put down the tissue paper. #3. (OK. I know I said two, but . . . ) I used too much reinker.

People coming over today--I'll try again tomorrow.

Sadie-So sorry this sounds rather drastic to be a "curly mess". Is it possible for you put your piece under some heavy books (or other weight) to help it flatten out? Or you might have to attach it to something thicker so it will stay flat.

Daria-Sorry to hear you used too much re-inker...that really can be a show stopper. There is much chance of recovering a piece after adding to much reinker once you have too much. And while you don't need to add glitter it is one of the best features of this technique.

Hope you find some quiet time later to continue your efforts!

This was a challenging challenge. But I love trying new techniques.

First step of stamping with black Staz-On was okay, but a little smudged. I used a printer transparency sheet. Then I dribbled glue on the back. I don't have any re-inkers so I tried Adirondack alcohol ink. It didn't spread much, but I didn't use my finger or anything to try to spread it around. It certainly gave a nice bright red color behind the stamped image.

Then I sprinkled on some gold Perfect Pearls, and squished on the tissue paper. It did curl quite a bit when it dried. I tried to flatten it overnight, then cut with it my Nestibilities, and mounted it on another die cut. The frame is outlined with Stickles. I will probably use this on a scrapbook page rather than a card, but it would work either way.

Thanks for the challenge and the new technique. Since I am not sure how re-inker works with this I can't comment about how the alcohol ink compares.

Here is my card for the Diamonds Sparkle challenge. I really had fun doing this. I think I did a couple things that I will do differently next time I do this. But the card looks nice. Of course you can't see all the sparklyness after it is scanned as what you can IRL. Thank you for this most wonderful challenge Far North.

OK, I had to read through the instructions multiple times to picture this technique, but I get it now. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow… I don't have the clear glues mentioned, I think I might just try clear glitter glue, that way the glitter's already in there. And I only have a black reinker, so I'm going to try using mists for some color. I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks for the fun challenge idea!

Thanks everyone so much for jumping into my challenge with both feet! This technique is really so pretty IRL. It feels like everyone is on the right track of adjusting the technique recipe according to your own product choices and preferences.

Sophikins and CarefreeSadie Thanks for sharing your details...it really helps to hear what works and what not so much. Your first results with this technique are fantastic. Sophikins, I can imagine making several of your "framed windows" for Christmas cards.

Michele, I think it's terrific you thought of trying mists. Not many folks had mists when this technique was popularized. So I think it is a great thing to try now. If you have some mists that are more transparent than others...I would choose the transparent ones so the color doesn't block what you do with the tissue paper.

I can't wait to see how things go for everyone!

Here is my entry.

I did not photograph the one I didn't add glitter too. It really did not turn out!

I did not have trouble with them curling. I did not attach anything to cardstock until they were dry.

These are so difficult to photograph. I liked the idea of using one as a bookmark because it will be so sturdy!

thanks for this challenge! It is really different from what I have done before!

Yes, they will be terrific bookmarks. So happy you achieved some splendid results! Thanks for playing in this challenge.

One year I altered the covers of mini spiral pads...and added a small image with this technique.

I took a peek at the other entries, really beautiful results, great job everyone!

Here is my card:
My diamonds sparkle card

I included a description of how mine came together, I used a pre printed transparency instead of stamping on a blank one because I actually don't own any StazOn if you can believe it. I mostly stick to paper, what can I say?

Thanks very much for the challenge! My DD and I used up half a bottle of glitter glue today making several unfinished pieces together

Michelle, that may be a solution for me; if I used glitter glue, I wouldn't have to worry about how much reinker to use. lol. Your pieces turned out beautifully.

Michele, kiddos for working with your supplies on hand! It all came together wonderfully! Love the little add on hearts to the top of the card. So glad you included your daughter in your artsy time.

I totally agree everyone has created wonderful pieces for this challenge. It is so fun to see how each is a little different. Did everyone catch that Michele used mists instead of re-inkers...that is truly a new twist. Thanks for sharing everyone!

Here is another attempt. This time I colored in the stamped image on the back of the acetate. I used gold and diamond Stickles, and I stamped on the tissue paper. I still don't have any re-inkers, but I feel a purchase coming on,

Jan, this is a great technique! Thanks for hosting the challenge. I worked on one last night but ended up with a muddled mess! I don't have any reinkers or acetate so I was using a transparency and alcohol ink. I'm gonna keep trying, I may not get it done by end of challenge but I bookmarked this thread to come back to. I may share my messed up pieces too, they're still kinda neat looking.

I've been catching up on the entries. Loving everyone's projects
