I design in Photoshop and have been using Heritage Makers for my book printing.
I was wanting to try another company and wondered if anyone had any suggestions.

I've only used Shutterfly, but I was very satisfied. |

I have a book company called PhotoBooks{etc} We have probably more book sizes than anyone else and the quality is top notch and prices are very competitive. You can upload your designs, drag them to the page and click on "Make photo full page" and it will fill the page.

I've only used Shutterfly as well and have been satisfied. I am afraid to try a different company not knowing what the results might be. Just have to be careful that you don't get important stuff too close to the edge but I think that is true for all the companies. |

Just an update - you can get a free personal softcover photo book from my Photobooks{etc} site. Follow the instructions on my PhotoBooks{etc} Blog to get your free book code. It's a good way to try the program.

Just curious as to why you want to try something new and not stick with Heritage Makers. |

I have created several books in Heritage Makers and have found it to be more difficult to navigate around since they upgraded their system about a year ago. I don't think it's user friendly like it was. I didn't like the Premier System.
The books are good quality though.
It took me twice as long to create my last book in HM premier system as it would have using photoshop.

Have you taken some of Heritage Makers' online classes? Have you asked your consultant for some tips and guidance? I wouldn't give up on them just yet. I personally find PSE more difficult than Studio. |

Can't help but get in here. I'm a Heritage maker consultant...
I would NEVER use Shutterfly... they GLUE their pages and it will not last. I have the books to prove it... that's why I became a Heritage Maker consultant. I personally do not use Premier as I design and create my own pages... although have to admit, the templates are really fast in a pinch.
It's very easy to put your photo shop pages into Heritage makers. Just upload your completed page and size to the size book you are doing. I would say that you do need to add about a 1/4" to one side of your gutter side as you're creating. If anyone should need help, I'd be happy to give better instructions. you can email me at cileniac at yahoo
In fact, I'm making specific instructions for people to upload their own pre-made pages. I will have it on my website and blog soon.
Hope I've helped. Cilenia Mommy and Me Storybooks

Thank you guys for all your great responses.
Here's the deal.
I have taken the classes online for Heritage Makers. I just found it to be difficult or touchy in some ways. For instance, I couldn't always drag something around on my page like I wanted to. Or, the favorites wouldn't work properly. I just found that kind of stuff to be frustrating. I've gotten spoiled in Photoshop with all that I can do and found Premier to be limiting.
HOWEVER~ I love HM books. The quality is really good.
I will go back to designing in PS and uploading to HM.
The biggest problem I had when they redesigned their website is, it affected my PS layouts not fitting properly. Before, I designed my pages to fit HM 8 x 8 exactly. Now, I've got to stretch it. I will email Celenia to get better instructions
One last thing, I live in Oklahoma and my once local consultant got transferred to Germany. So, that creates a commmunication problem.

Musick
So sorry to hear your consultant moved so far... Heritage Maker's does not support consultants in Germany. Your account should have been handed over to her upline. BUT, I would be MORE than happy to assist you.
You can email me at cileniac@yahoo.com. I agree about Studio compared to PhotoShop... once you learn PS, Studio is too limiting. I have all the dimensions with exact pixels for you. Just send me a note and I will get it to you. and of course, I'm always around a compy to help if needed.

I haven't used this company before but I've only ever heard fantastic thingsâ€â€It's MyPicTales. I think it's mypictales.com. Anyway, there have been lots of rave reviews from people I know... Might not hurt to check them out.
When I'm printing individual pages I've just used Costco . I don't think they do books. |
