My hubby got me a Bamboo Capture for Christmas. I'd like to be able to make some basic clip art, borders and backgrounds in PSE to add to the items I'm selling on www.teacherspayteachers.com . Will this work or do I need to get something else?

Thanks!

The Bamboo Capture is a tablet? With the tablet you can draw your own embellishments like borders, but it's actually more difficult to draw on a tablet than you might expect. Bring it down onto your lap, that helps with the angle. You can import free clip art from the web into PSE, and I think if it's not copyright protected you could use it.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you hope to create so I hope I've answered your questions. If not, re-post because we have some teachers on this board that use that site so they may be able to help.

This is what he got me.

I want to make some basic frames. Something like this .

Is this the product I should use? I tried making some with my mouse and they were horrible. I just figured it would be much easier with a "pen".

I need some historical figures in jpgs and was going to try my hand at drawing them. Basically I want to do some line drawings and maybe color them in.

Thanks!

Yes, that's a tablet. I'm not able to open the link to the frames, but I think I can answer without seeing them. Anything you draw on a tablet with the stylus is probably going to have a "doodly" quality. Which can be a good thing!

If you have a clip art image that you can use as a template, I would suggest creating a canvas in PSE, putting the image on top of the tablet, and use the stylus to draw on top of it, on top of the tablet, to trace the lines of the image in your document in PSE. It might work. Or, you might find that it's better to just download clip art from the web. Like I said before, it's actually harder to draw on the tablet than people expect, but by all means, give it a try!

most also use Illustrator to clean up those hand-drawn images...

Although I occasionally draw with my tablet, and occasionally use Illustrator, I generally draw the old fashioned way with pen or pencil. Then I scan my artwork, and do a little retouching in Photoshop, and use PS to add color, shading, etc.
