Greetings All!

I recently started my hand at digital scrapbooking. My mom is really into paper scrapping, and I tried that once. It was not for me. Digital and techie stuff is more my style.

I downloaded iScrapbook for my MacBook Air. It has been a challenge so far because of technical issues with the program. Version 4 was just released on the app store, and have had problems with it since.

So, I'm considering trying PSE or CS by Adobe. Being a grad student, I get a very good discount on CS. So, I thought about starting with that one. My intent for getting iScrapbook was to get a handle on the digital thing. A template program would help with that. But, I have run into so many issues with the program. And, technical support is very slow.

Has anyone else made the switch from iScrapbook to CS?

I like the idea of quick page kits from iScrapbook. But, also want to be able to create my own in time.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't know there was a scrapbooking app! If you can get a good discount on CS, I'd go for it. PSE is what the majority of digital scrappers use, and it's fine for what we do. But, a lot of the reason to use PSE over the full version is cost. You'll be able to find lots of classes and tutorials for either version.

My first big project will be putting together a scrapbook from our Disney World trip over Christmas and New Year's trip last year (2011). My mom was making one for my Hawaii trip the year before over Christmas, but said I had to do my Disney trip. LOL

Welcome to digital - we're so glad you are here. I, also, cannot answer any questions you have about that particular program - like most of the scrappers here I use PSE. I'll say that I would upgrade to PS if it was cheap enough, but because I really don't have any desire to design PSE fits all of my needs. Feel free to ask questions at any time, someone is usually always around. I can't wait to see what you do.

I went ahead and ordered PSE 11 from Amazon. It was only $70. My desktop is a PC, but planning on replacing it with a Mac within the next year. So, I didn't want to pay for the full PS until I do that, since the OS will be different.

It should arrive today. So, I'll probably be trying to figure it out after installing tonight. I need to figure out about downloading, installing, and organizing the papers, fonts, kits, etc.

PSE 11 arrived, and has been installed. I started with a few freebie kits/supplies. But, after receiving a book today I will need to start over. Luckily I didn't install too much.

I ordered "Photoshop Elements Basics & Beyond-Photo Editing-Organizing-Digital Scrapbooking" by Patty Debowski. I have some great ideas from her book now on organizing my files. So, I'll start from scratch when I get home.

I ordered my PSE software from amazon today so I am definately a newbie. So excited to learn how all this works. Thank you for the advice on the book and not downloading a bunch of stuff first. Please share as you learn so I can learn too.
