Since we have a holiday coming up, I thought I would ask: Do you celebrate Easter? If so, what are your plans for the coming weekend?

Feel free to also chat about what's going on with you (family, work, hobbies, etc.).

Everyone is welcome, whether you've been here a long time or just a few hours!

We do celebrate Easter, and try to keep it low key. We head to church in the morning, and do baskets up for the kids and have a small egg hunt in the back yard. My SIL usually invites us to a fun Easter celebration the day before Easter, which is held at her mom's farm. We haven't gone in a few years, so we are waffling back and forth trying to decide if we're going or not. We'll see.

On Tuesday, dh and I celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary... We are going out to dinner and to see West Side Story. I've seen the movie, but haven't seen the play on stage, so that will be cool.

The kids still have one more week of break before they head back to school, so I'm thinking we need an outing. I'm hoping to take them to a movie, or maybe we can head to the park if the weather will cooperate...

we do celebrate too. This year is a bit unusual though. my BIL is getting married this fall so we are spending easter making wedding favours, trying on tuxes, dress shopping and wedding planning. We are also taking a family vacation this June so when we are all together this weekend we are finalizing the plans for the holiday. My inlaws are extreme planners. They need to work out every detail before we leave from timelines to packing lists to meal plans. I'll be playing ping pong in the common room with DS while they do that

We are very low key for Easter. I do Easter Baskets for the kids. Usually I spend the day with my Mom and we go out for dinner. Not sure if we will do that this year or not yet.

I'm dealing with an abscessed tooth--started Mid Saturday Night. In a lot of pain, trying to locate somewhere I can go to have it attended to. I don't have a dentist, and the dentist I used to have, doesn't deal with root canals. . . if that is what is deemed the necessary action. It may need to be pulled but I'm hoping not.

Kids have a big spring band concert this week. It has many of the school bands performing (beginning, concert, symphonic bands) and (beginning, concert, symphonic orchestra)...always good but long.

Hope to find some time to scrap but that may not happen this week.

So Shan, what are the wedding colors? I'm always interested to see what colors people choose for their big day.

Debi...I hope you can find a dentist or oral surgeon to help you out...tooth pain is awful!

Hey you all...

Just a brief note for now, many chores on the list today.

We do observe Easter here with Church, ggd will be baptized this year, then a meal together. When the grands were small,we would have an egg hunt. As soon as weather permits,we will begin egg hunts again for the ggc.I have to admit, the hunt was always a high light for me as well.

We are blanketed with snow here in Ohio and it continues to fall. Very deep and pretty. On Saturday,I was out in the yard and gardens begining my spring chores. Oh,well,as my late dh used to say,it will be waiting, when the weather permits, lol.

I haven't scrapped much in the last few days,I think about it,but,am just not enthusiastic about it.It will return.

Well, chores are waiting, have a beautiful week. Will bbl pam

we still have snow here too. By this time last year I had apple blossoms and tulips.. come on spring lets go already!

I have decided to try and cut the processed crap from my families diets. So today I made home made ketchup, it tastes better than the store bought and I also made chocolate syrup, it boiled over and burnt all over the stove. I may or may not have been distracted by the internet at the time.... but the chocolate milk it made was yummy!

We're off to the cabin tomorrow with my mom for an extended Easter weekend. We don't do much for Easter these days, just a nice dinner (has to be turkey not ham according to dh)! Lots to do today before we go.
I've been working in finishing the year end for our company, next I need to get into the taxes I'm not looking forward to it!!
Our snow is long gone and its finally warming up. They're calling for 15 here this week.

Happy Anniversary Lorell - sounds like you have a great evening planned. I can't remember how long ago I saw West Side Story.

Shan - Good for you going with the nonprocessed food! I've been trying to cut down on the salt in our diet. After a while, you really notice how much restaurants put in their food when you go out.
Wow! Bright blue - that is very different for a fall wedding!

Debi - Hope you've found a dentist to help you out with that tooth. Tooth pain can make you feel miserable all over.

Good morning ladies, snow is melting... birds are singing, who could ask for more!!

Well it is mid week and I have been a slacker.. cleaned floors yesterday, but could not wait till I got it done. Today, laundry and hair appointment for a much needed trim.

Jane,we too have a lake house, but since the dh passed,it has been difficult to go there, since we both enjoyed our good times there, the memories just sadden me ... I am going to open it this year and as a family,we will continue all the fun times and priceless memories will be forever dear in our hearts. I had considered selling, but dh would not have wanted that... so it is time.

Happy belated anniversary Lorell, hope it was a glorious day for you and your dh.

Shan,I cannot think of ping pong without thinking of Forrest Gump,is that a hoot or what!! Also sounds like your year is going to be full of fun events... a wedding and family trip..lots to look forward to.

Debi, hope the dental issues are improving..we had a musical last week-end at the high school. All the grands are graduated and in college now,but the youngest,Jacob, was invited to be in the orchestra,so off we went again. He was a little worried since he is full-time OSU student and could not attend all the rehearsals but I thought they sounded divine and the students did a good job also.

Well, enough of being windy and now to some production, lol Have a great day...pam

Hey SHAN I learned to play ping pong that same way! LOL

I'm still dealing with health issues...no the tooth pain is still a problme, hoping the antibiotics kick in before the pain pill prescription runs out. Today, however, I have an emergency appointment with my eye doctor as my left eye suddenly is flashing and has a bunch of watery floaters...NOT MY EYES! I need those! SO wish me luck. Thanks.

Hi everyone. Yes we celebrate Easter as well. With adult children and only one left at home still, it is fairly low key as well. Will probably go to church with my MIL and I bought racks of lamb to have for dinner. MIL always buys way more ham than we can possibly eat so I beat her to the punch getting the lamb today. I also placed an order for some really cute cookies for dessert today. I saw them at the bakery on Saturday and thought that Chris would really like them. They are bunnies with a flopped ear--just like our poor deceased bunny Ranger. I ordered one for each of us so I see a really cute bunny cookie LO coming for Easter LOL.

Eyes will be ok...not retina tears and not detaching...just pitfalls of aging. Dang it ....where is that fountain of youth?

No big plans for Easter yet. Probably will have dinner with my Mom. Kind of want to stay low-key til my mouth issues get resolved.

Easter is a 2 day deal in my family. Saturday we color easter eggs, and eat deserts. Then in the evening the kids get to hunt for the eggs with flashlights. They love it and its fun to watch. On sunday we all get together and have an early dinner.

Tina, the flashlight egg hunt sounds so fun. My gc used to love to play in the gardens in the summer with flashlights,I remember the laughter and giggles . As it looks here, they would still need snow boots and shovels to do it this year.

Lots of sun today, maybe we will continue to melt. When I was out to feed the birds, the wind was bitter... sigh

Last night I was treated to a birthday dinner, cupcakes and all. Had a nice evening with the family and a full tummy to top it off.

Tonight another dinner with the ggd and gs and probably more treats, lol

I miss the days of egg hunts. My boys are "too old" now. I still hide Easter baskets though. An egg hunt in the snow might make it easier to see the colored eggs...

Band concert tonight for the boys.

Godspell production at church tomorrow night.

Hi ladies! Glad to see a chat thread here.
sorry I'm so late getting here!
Debi, hope you are better--eyes and teeth!
I'm going through a lot right now myself--but going to the doctor next week to take care of it. My sister was visiting for about 10 days and now I'm catching up with "stuff."

We'll be going to church on Easter, then go to my son's house for dinner there. I'm taking my potato salad. I usually make it for Easter. I have to make so much of it at one time that I can't make it unless there is going to be a crowd around! I start with about 10 pounds of potatoes. Not sure why I can't cut things down, but when I've tried, it just isn't the same! There will be about 12 of us for dinner, so it should be perfect.

That's a lot of potato salad, but now you have me craving potato salad. LOL

I make it in the summer but I'm the only one that likes potatoes in my household. I'm afraid a recipe requiring 10 lbs of potatoes would go to waste.

Hello Everyone,
I've been stalking this weekly chat thread for awhile but haven't popped in to say hi. Thanks Lorell for getting it started.

We celebrate Easter at our house. We go to church and the Easter bunny hides eggs in our house while we're gone. Our Easter bunny doesn't leave presents but we give the kids a book and a journal/notepad every year. We try to keep it as introspective and spiritually focused as 3 and 5 year olds can handle. Haha. And My husband loves a roast and mashed potatoes dinner on Easter. Best part is that he cooks it himself.

This year my parents, my sister and her 3 children will come to visit. I'm really excited about that.

Shan- good luck with the wedding plans.
Debi-hang in there! Thinking about you all the time.
Lorell-Happy Anniversary. Have a great time.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Thought I would check in as I have been on the computer most of the day. Should have been studying but couldn't concentrate. I am in the midst of having several tests and procedures done. Got a tube down my throat for 24 hours right now to measure the pH in my esophagus. So I am pretty miserable. Can't wait to get it out tomorrow morning.

Welcome Angie. Nice of you to drop by. When does NYLENE arrive? I bet it will be a blast having all of you together. A roast and mash pototoes sounds right up my alley. I love mashed potatoes. SO far all I've bought for Easter is asparagus...for me and mom. The boys don't like it. Maybe I'll buy some ham to go with it and try making some mashed pototoes myself.

SHANNON what is going on with you? I thought I was the "sick" one on the boards. . . LOL I hope you find out what you need to soon. Yuck I don't think I'd like a tube stuck down my throat...ouch.

We can't both be sick at the same time; we need to keep someone representing our state at the ready...

Not sure what is wrong--been having trouble with breathing, coughing and heartburn since last summer. Finally went to a pulmonologist a couple weeks ago. Thinking it may be asthma--but I have allergies as well. Also have had a fair amount of pain with my neck arthritis--was really bad at Christmas time. So in the span of three weeks I have had blood drawn twice, getting the pH test now, having pulmonary function test and an arterial blood gas drawn today, having a lung CT on Tuesday morning and my neck epidural injection in the afternoon. See the pulmonologist on Wednesday to review all my tests and may still need to do a sleep study. And really hoping I don't need to have my stomach surgery redone.

Hello and good morning from clear skies and sunny Ohio!! hip hip hooray!

Sounds like we have a variety of ailments in the group, here's hope that it all clears up soon.

Ahh,potato salad sounds so yummy,oh the power of suggestion, might just have to make some soon. Deanna,I have the same issue with the family favorite, spaghetti, one size fits all,I have tried smaller batches, not the same. Since I am by myself now,I am sure to only make it when the whole family is here, plus I don't eat red meat,so it works out ok.When the children were all at home, they felt deprived if it wasn't served once a week, lol.

Today,a special lunch with the Bffs, then some shopping. The lens is on the way,so I am waiting for the big brown truck to come up the lane, lol.
Hope I made the right choice..

We are expecting a slight warming trend for a few days,it sure will be welcomed by me. I am so late getting to the gardens and yard clean up,I will be in a frenzy when the good temps arrive.

Angie, enjoy the get together, take lots of photos and of course savor the time with family. pam

Well I did have some good news this morning. Finally got a letter of invitation that Chris needs to submit his visa application to China. We have been waiting for three weeks for it and I have sent the original application and passport away a month ago thinking I had everything together for it then. So keeping my figures crossed that we get his passport and visa back very soon for his trip in May.

My weekend took a turn for the worst. As many of you know I teach daycare kids with disabilities. I got the news today that one of my students just passed away after loosing is battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was just about to turn 6. I can't imagine the loss his family and siblings are going through right now. Hug your kids extra tight and be thankful this weekend.

Hello everyone. I'm late, late, late to the chat thread this week! It's been busy.

I read all your posts but I'm not going to try to respond to them all! It will make this post WAY too long.

I'll just say:
Happy Anniversary to Lorell!

I hope Shan and Debi that all is well with you very soon. Please keep us posted. Shan I'm so sorry about your student. I teach grade 2 and I can't imagine how it would hurt to lose a student. His poor family.

Bright blue? My prom dress was royal blue, but not so sure I'd like it for a wedding.

Love potato salad!

We do celebrate Easter. I like the ideas I read about journals and flashlight egg hunts! We go to a small home church which is very Bible based but not so traditional. We talk about Jesus in depth every week, so there likely won't be an "Easter" message. We will color eggs tomorrow. We make baskets and hide eggs in the house for the kids to find. We don't actually do the Easter bunny at our house. Mom and Dad are the basket-givers and egg-hiders.

SHANNON hope all the paperwork gets done in time. Stress provoking when you're waiting on necessary stuff but have no control over it.

Hope you get good news and definitive news about what's going on with you. Doesn't sound fun, but then again, health issues rarely are.

Beautiful weather here. Makes everything seem better, even if it's just an illusion.

Have a wonderful EASTER weekend whether you celebrate it or not.

Hey everyone...so glad to see you all here and chatting. All the talk about food is making me hungry...it all sounds so good!

Shannon, I hope your doctors find what is ailing you...it's so difficult to have something going on with your health and not know what's going on.

Shan, I'm sorry to hear about that sweet little guy in your class...my condolences.

Turns out we are headed out to the farm for lunch and an egg hunt. I have to get a dish ready, since lunch is a potluck, so I have to get going soon. I'm not doing anything fancy for tomorrow...I bought a quiche that I will bake tomorrow. It's perhaps not the most exciting dish, but my family will like it and I don't have to be in the kitchen much tomorrow....

I hope you all have a blessed Easter tomorrow and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

ShanB sorry to hear about your student passing, cancer just sucks!

Deb and Shanon, hope your are feeling better soon.

Deanna, I love potato salad!

Lorell, I am glad you and your husband had a great anniversary, congrats on 19 years and for many more.

Angie sounds like you are going to have a great Easter, enjoy your family.

The flashlight Easter egg hunt went well we had 9 kids hunting for eggs, the youngest 2 (3 and 1) found there eggs quickly the 2 older boys (13) took over and hour looking for the eggs, they had so much problems looking for them the guys who hid them put them on the ground to help them out and it still took them over an hour. The guys even held their flashlights over some of the eggs and the boys never clued in. lol For Easter I took my parents and we met my brother at the golf course he works at and had a delicious brunch. This whole weekend has been sunny and warm.

I posted my Easter LO of the cookies I bought for dessert. I see the change in the store definitely occurred today. Just some of Adrienne's actions and then just Hero Arts stuff. So sad to see. I really don't like Hero Arts so that is definitely a disappointment. Plus the stuff is priced so high.
