Can PSD files be converted into a PNG file? I use Creative memories SBC 4.0 software to digitally scrapbook. I wanted to buy some Project Life digital templates but they come in PSD format only. I don't believe I PSD files will work in their software. I'm just wondering if they can be converted before I purchase anything.

I've taken a PSD file with a transparent background and saved it as a PNG, but it was a small element. It worked just fine.

Additionally, to do this, I had to merge all the layers together so that it became one single layer. The problem you would run into would be that your template would no longer be layered and editable. Forgive me for not knowing more about SBC...but I don't think PNG would be layered in your software...someone else speak up if this is not the case.

Maybe quick pages would be a better way to go...PNG files are single layer objects and so I'm not sure an unlayered template would be what you are after.

We do have some ladies here who are more familiar with that software, so hopefully they will have some insight for you.

I save files I create as PSD as a PNG.

These would be thinks like elements I make, word art.

Thanks ladies, it doesn't look like I'll be buying any of PL templates. I suppose I could create a "template like" page myself in SBC 4.0 but I was hoping to have a easy way to do it.

I saw them somewhere. A lady made them and was sharing them on her blog. I think I saw the post on Facebook on a project life board. I am sure if you google them you will find them. Good luck!

Thanks, I'll try and search for it. It's frustrating they only make it in .PSD format and the journaling cards are offered in .PNG.

Chelle of Chelle's Creations has a number of "In the Pocket" PL-style templates that come in .page files for SBC+.

Other designers that include .page files for their templates include Britt-ish Designs, Scrappin with Liz, Little Green Frog Designs and Fiddle Dee Dee Designs.

I'm not sure of the rules re: links, but you can Google these gals and find them.

Mye De Leon also includes .page files.

A template saved as a png wouldn't really be helpful to you, since it would only be one big graphic, like a jpg. The reason most designers don't include the .page file is because we can't save that natively with our designing software. In order to have a .page file, you need to have the CM software, recreate the layout there (or import each layer as a png) and then save, so it's pretty labor intensive.

You will find some designers who offer the individual pieces as png files, but I'm not sure if that works to put them in the correct places, or if everything just ends up centered and you have to arrange it. I haven't ever tried that with the software.

Since PS (or PSE) is the most common software used by digiscrappers, that's who they generally market to.

Thanks so much everyone, you've been a great help! I've been putting off learning PS/PSE since I find it not very user friendly, but I guess I'm just gonna have to suck it up and learn it. It will help me in the long run!!

Kristen, if you have any questions about PSE just holler. I can help you with what I know as I am sure there are others too!
