Hey, is everyone out of town? On a cruise? Cleaning closets? I can hear my brain rattling around my head, it's so quiet in here!
So what's everybody doing? Is school out for your kids? Vacation plans? Upcoming holiday activities? Day trips? Projects? Scrapping? Let's talk!

I'll start! I just found out that a trip my DH Bruce was going to take to California (without me!) next week, has been postponed, and now the trip has been rescheduled for the end of the month... and I get to go! AND THE BEST NEWS is that all of our kids are going to be there, and our four grandchildren, and we're all going to celebrate his big 6-0 birthday together! It was unexpected... I didn't think we could afford to both fly cross country, and have me use up vacation time that we hadn't planned on, but everything is working out perfectly! I'm so excited! Can't wait to see my dear Mom too! And my sister, BIL, DN, and old friends from our home town.

Sounds like a fantastic trip Steph! I love it when everything comes together. What a great chance to reconnnect with family.
I'm off on a five day road trip with DH. He took up road biking this year and decided he wanted to bike from Jasper to Lake Louise which is 240km. So I'm along for the ride. In the morning I drop him off at the spot where he finished the previous day. He should be done tomorrow and we will head home then. Its been an amazing trip. We have seen more wildlife on this trip than ever before in these parks. Today we saw a grizzly bear. I've never seen one before in my life - he was absolutely huge!! DH did many years ago on the Alaska Highway. We've also seen bighorn sheep, elk, a young moose and four separate sightings of black bears!!
When we get home we have two weeks before our oldest dd arrives on a three week holiday from New Zealand. We're all flying down to Ontario after ten days and will be spending most of the rest of the summer there, reconnecting with family too!! I can't wait!

As most of you may have noticed, I have been scrapping up a storm. Chris got back from China on Friday night. He took lots of photos and some of the people that he met are posting photos of him too so getting lots of material to work with. He graduates next week from community college and will go to university in the fall. Unfortunately he decided not to walk--so no graduation pictures for me to scrap other than we are going to get a cake and at least celebrate his success and graduation in a small way.

|Posted: 6/13/2013 11:28:11 AM|Jane- your road trip with your DH sounds wonderful. So, I guess that means you're driving, and he's cycling, and you meet up at the end of the day? Or do you meet midway for a rest? I've never done anything like that, but it sounds wonderful! Glad you didn't get eaten by that grizzly, must have been terrifying! I love that area of Canada. We were there in 2006, and I'd love to go back!
Shannon- I admire you for scrapping your son's trip. When my daughter went to Italy in 2006, I did one single layout about her trip. She's a traditional scrapper, and I figured she could do more if she wanted! That's pretty much been my approach since! I'm sure Chris isn't going to scrap his own China adventure!

I don't think I remember seeing that one Stef. No--Chris would not scrap his own trip and I am not going to scrap all his pictures. Took way more modern building pictures, slums, apartments, construction sites and other things that I have no desire to scrap. I might do a smattering of them just because he seemed so interested in them but very limited. I wish he could remember where some of the things are. I looked at a picture of a sculpture and he can't remember if it was at the embassy building or the Olympic Green and I can't find it anywhere on the internet so far. So even though it is a pretty cool sculpture I was afraid to attach it to anything specific. Although now that I think about it--I suppose I could not identify it but attach it somehow to meeting people from all over the world or something like that.

I heard the crickets chirping too!
Steph-so glad things are working in your favor and you will be able to go on the trip as well.
Jane-How cool! I am very impressed with your by biking that far that you are able to share that experience with him.
Shannon- you are a good mom! He will love the layouts you for him.
Nothing exciting here. Hubby and I bought a snocone machine, and everyday after my busy days at work, I enjoy my treat. Work is crazy this month, so I really have not been able to enjoy anything else. We did see two movies, Star Trek and Fast and the Furious and liked them both.

Sorry I've been MIA and may continue to be for a few more days.
STEF no school isn't out, which is why I'm not here since the end of the year stuff is taking up all our time with last performances, and graduation ceremonies (today they had an 8th grade promotion ceremony) and finding clothes for everything (had to buy new white dress shirts--dang kids keep growing), plus the normal stuff (orthodontic and dentist appointments, opthalmology appts....etc. The boys had a ton of geometry make-up stuff to catch up on and they have a 8th grade cruise (day cruise in the bay with their 287 classmates) tomorrow celebrating the Last day of school. Then there is Ultimate frisbee camp all next week, so yes, we had to go buy new soccer cleats. Kids can be so expensive...why didn't someone tell me this before I had kids? LOL
I Love that it worked out for you two to take the trip together and that all of you are going to meet up...IT WAS MEANT TO BE. How exciting.
JANE do you ever stay home? You are always off doing something fun.
SHANNON even though you didn't get to go on the CHINA trip yourself, it must be awesome to live through the trip via scrapbooking. You've taught your son well to take photos. Mine would come home nary a photo other than probably some odd toilet or something...They are at the point where it's a pain to pose for even the quick obligatory event photo. Trying to get photos of them today at the reception following their promotion ceremony (finishing up middle school promoting to high school), it was nearly impossible to get a decent photo. I hope some day they will appreciate the collection of pages of their lives but maybe not...
DANICA snow cones sounds like a fun treat for the summer months. I cheat; I have a 7-11 across the street on the corner, so if I'm really craving something cold I can always go grab a slurpee...not that I do very often although my son, Noah likes slurpees. They are nice on a hot day though.
One more day of middle school to get through. then hopefully my schedule will be less hectic...

|Posted: 6/14/2013 10:11:59 PM|This has been out first full week out of school, so my workload has increased some. The last two weeks have been super crazy...music performances, Invention Convention, diorama reports, etc. I was up at school everyday during the second-to- last week of school. Then last week, I ran as many errands as I could before school ended. The last day was full of goodbyes, and then we took the kids to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate the last day.
Dh did the IronMan 70.3 almost a week ago (this is basically a half IronMan, if you aren't familiar with this race), which was crazy, but he did well. I took the kids to a wedding reception while he was finishing up.
This past week has been nice, since we haven't had to worry about school, but we are keeping busy. We're doing some cleaning here and there, my youngest is taking a short summer reading course, we are making vacation plans, and getting ready for a family reunion. Never a dull moment...

The last few weeks have been crazy with finishing the school year. No big vacation plans yet, but hoping that the summer slows down and we can go somewhere.
Stef, hope you have a good time and take lots of pictures on your trip back to California.
