Welcome back!

The second project/video/pdf for this week is up HERE.

This week focuses on Distress Inks from Ranger. (If you missed Monday's video, click HERE.) Today's video talks about stamping with Distress Inks. There will be another project/video up on Friday, too.

Remember, there will be prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick a winner of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger.

Again, The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects. You can use any products, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking class.

Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.

Enjoy!

Hi Jennifer and all my pea buddies!
I see that with all the embossing on this video you don't mention Distress embossing powder that Tim demo's with the "release crystals" is that something that you use in your crafting? I always wondered about those because I never thought I'd want part of my embossing to come off! lol Is it a technique you plan to use later in these classes? ALSO...Yesterday I bought the Alchohol blender and was thinking of taking it back, but at only $4.99 do you think I should just keep it and the refills because you will be doing something with those later on?? And do the INK blending pads fit on this tool? Just wondering if I can find the pads today but not the tool.
Thanks soooo much for this awesome class, it had to be alot of work, and we are LOVE, LOVE, LOVING it!!

Great videos, Jennifer! I really like the way you explain
and show all these techniques and ways to use the distress
inks. I am not able to access the PDF, however. When I click
on it I get a lot of letters but no text.

I really liked the watercolour technique & am definitely going to have a go at that. I'm also going to have to get some more Distress Inks in other colours.

One complaint, however. That butterfly stamp has been sold out for MONTHS, not just at Two Peas, but everywhere. This past spring was total butterfly madness & that stamp can't be had for love nor money. It's just cruel to torment us with it.

Thank you so much . This class provides lots of inspiration plus a strong desire to buy more inks

This butterfly stamp is one of my all time favorite too (together with the script and wood-grain stamps)

Both videos are excellent. Love to learn new techniques.

I checked, and that butterfly will be back in stock soon.

You can do the same stuff with clear stamps. However, Distress Inks will work best with made-in-the-US clear stamps. These are made of photopolymer, which stamp well. Many that are made overseas are made with materials that repel in. It makes the ink bubble on it and not stamp smoothly. I recommend just trying it!

Many stamps are made in the US. Hero Arts, Technique Tuesday, etc.

My house was trashed b/c I was playing with inks, embossing powders, heat guns, stamps...I felt like I had every supply I own out! BUT - it was fun and I finished a project using the techniques from this video. I didn't see a separate gallery option for Week 1, Part 2 so I posted it in the Gallery we've been using so far.

My sister and I exchange 6 by 6 recipe cards with one another and I owed her this recipe, so I tried out today's techniques while making it. I used the watercolor (w/ Mango & Fired Up - I guess Mango is discontinued), embossing (using Ranger Gold Super Fine Detail), and partial embossing (using Ranger Blue Glass embossing powder over a Fired Up stamp). Interestingly, I tried out the techniques on some other rubber stamps and they didn't work at all. The images were very blotchy. Then I tried on some Autumn Leaves acrylic stamps and it didn't work either. Finally, I found this Hero Arts stamp and it all worked like the video.

Here it is: Click Here

The recipe is good, if you're interested. It's a great summer BBQ potluck kind of thing
