Hey, everyone!

Welcome to Week 2 of our class. The first project/video/pdf for this week is up HERE.

This week focuses on Embossing Powders. Today's video talks about fun ways to use them... even without stamps. There will be another project/video up on Wednesday and Friday, too - both on embossing powders, also.

ETA: In the video, I show layering UTEE for faux epoxy, etc. If you don't have any, you can buy it here or just layer twice as many layers of regular embossing powder!

And, of course, we need prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick a winner of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger. Please post your project by Sunday, 6/28 at 11pmEDT.

The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects. You can use any products, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking Class, Week 2.

Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.

ALSO, I plan to post a "class supply list" later today so if you want to order some things for the future weeks, you can.

Let's get creating!

Great ideas as always! You do the neatest things! My sweeties are sick today so I can play inbetween giving hugs and sprite. I can't wait to try some of these things...I even went out last week to get some distress inks. LOL Now I just need to get that felt tool. Thanks for sharing these great ideas with us!

Another great video! I love the idea of embellishing the diecuts and having them ready to pop on a card or a layout -- need to get the embossing ink pad!

Thanks, again!

Good morning, Jennifer. Thank you for these classes. I enjoyed last week's immensely.

Before I head over to see today's class, I thought I'd mention you might want to change the title of this thread from Week 1 to Week 2. LOL.

Brillant series Jennifer! I really like the format of the presentations and the information is fresh with a great mix of new ideas. Today's embossing info was terrific!

I realize you are probably taping ahead but I had seen an earlier post about difficultly with the level of the sound. Know that for me it was somewhat better today and at least I didn't need to hold my 15" speaker to my ear(glad no one is watching me LOL) but still was was on the edge of my seat to adequately hear. I too have turned all my computer controls to the max. I do not have problems with hearing other videos. I don't know if there is anything you can do but at least you will know that you have a groupie that is determined enough to hear your great stuff they will go to the extreme to hear ya!! Thanks for your tremendous work to make these videos and PDFs terrific

Great video. I especially love the simple tip of making a paper holder. I've always used a skewer to hold things down, but the way you did it allows for totally coating the image w/o having to worry about where the skewer would touch it. Thanks!

Off to pull out my UTEE and play...

Another fantastic class - I'm learning so much! You make everything seem effortless... that's the sign of a good teacher Thanks Jennifer - going to get my embossing powders and flowers out right NOW.

P.s. - what brand of heat gun do you use if you don't mind me asking? Is it silent? It's so quick!

I don't have UTEE though, but I can definitely play with the first technique.

Excellent idea about posting a list of supplies for future classes. It takes about 10 days for orders to reach me from Two Peas, so the more lead time I have, the better. Thanks!

Thanks Jennifer! I guess I missed that part in the video!

I've already tried the faux wax seals...don't have white, but I heard you say you could use silver for a metal look...and that's what I did. Wow, it's very cool looking!

Okay, I'm going to try the faux epoxy techniques next!

And thanks Tim for stopping by! Jennifer IS an awesome teacher!

That was fun & I only got cookin' hot embossing powder stuck to my thumb once!

Anyway, here's a note card featuring a white embossed background and a faux epoxied, funky old Prima flower I found in my stash. The Hero Arts Butterflies & Flowers background stamp is rather out of date so I wasn't able to relate it to the project. The same goes for my old Ranger embossing powders, from their Antiquities line.

The other item is just a little faux wax seal, made for the gift card envelope that made for this month's Year in Cards project.

Love it!
never seen anyone emboss flowers before- I ALWAYS learn something from your videos Jennifer, no matter how many I watch! By the way, your 'fork' is great.

Do you ever find that warping and buckling of the paper is a problem trying to get the epoxy look using UTEE? I've only done it with regular clear powder (2-3 coats) and unless I use thick chipboard, it always buckles my diecut quite badly. Is it just me?

Thanks for another great video.

Thanks for another great video, Jennifer! Love the "fork" idea for handling the die cuts!! The last time I tried the faux epoxy effect, it was really messy since I glued the piece down with removable adhesive and it ended up stock to the paper and I had to cut it off.... It was a small disaster... Only if I was smarter... BIg thank to that tip, I'll have to try it again now!

Jennifer, just wanted to say what a great class, making me dig out some of my stuff that has not been used for some time...Thank you !!!
I don't have any distressing inks ( they are sitting in my wish list here at 2peas, but are out of stock,) or perfect pearls, but I wanted to play along just for fun, so I used (glimmer mist and water) they kinda turned out ok I guess but maybe my paper got too wet, it curled up, even though I dried it with my heat gun. But used Utee on a chipboard butterfly, turned out really pretty.
Thanks again, have a great day everyone !!

warping - sometimes, while it is still warm (but not hot), i will bend the pieces a bit carefully in the other direction while it cools completely. this helps prevent it from curling.

inks will be back in stock soon.
