Hi, stampers.

Sorry for the delay. My laptop's video card died - nothing on the screen. Took it in to get fixed and I won't get it back until Tuesday. Boo! So I am now on our old computer trying to get things going. SORRY!

Welcome to Part 3 of Week 2 of our class. The thirdproject/video/pdf for this week is up HERE.

This week focuses on Embossing Powders. Today's video talks about Distress Embossing Powderpowder embossing.

And, of course, we need prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick a winner of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger. Please post your project by Sunday, 6/28 at 11pmEDT.

The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects for embossing powders. You can use any products, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking Class, Week 2.

Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.

Enjoy!

Very cool stuff that distressed embossing powder! I also saw the Tim Holtz video on these and you may have mentioned it in your PDF (haven't looked over that one yet) but he said to never put the release crystals you rub off back into your bottle with your original embossing powder but to just throw those crystals you rub off into the trash.

Thanks for another great video!

I only bought one color of Distress Embossing powder, because I wasn't sure if I would like it. That was last fall, so it's brown & rather boring on it's own. Anyway, I went "mad scientist" and blended it with some gold embossing powder (Queen's Gold, by Ranger). The surface is a bit shiny, but it also has a palpable texture, which you can sort of tell from the photo. The release effect is, of course, diminished but present nonetheless. Personally, I kind of like it. I am going to get more Distress powders though, in some summer colors. Thanks again, Jen. This class is both informative & great fun.

Well, doggone it! LOL Now I have to go back to Hobby Lobby to get some of those distressed embossing powders. My DH is going to ban me from watching you if you don't stop making this stuff look so necessary. LOL Another great class! Thanks!

Hello! I have searched all over and cannot figure out exactly where I'm supposed to submit my entry for the weekly challenge. Do I just upload a picture to the Two Peas gallery and then put a link to it in this thread? Sorry for the ignorance!

Mallory, post your entry in the Stamping Gallery. When you post it, click the Thinking Inking Class Challenge box when prompted to do so. I think that's Step 3. Then come back to this thread to link to your gallery post.

Thank you Jennifer for another good tutorial. I like distress embossing powders but sometimes it didn't look very good. Must be because I didn't know that you have to shake it before using.

I only have one color of DEP and it is black! I will have to try my LSS and see if they have any more today. I do like the effect. I also didn't know you had to shake the powder! Vicky Distressed Bird

On this card I used multi EP, using DEP and the embossing on embellishments, with a little white EP background stamping! I stamped the image using peeled paint, shook on some clear, vintage photo and some antiquities cobalt EP. I think I need to play more with my combos, but I like the gradual color change on the image.

On this project I embossed on chipboard, which turned out way better than the letter stickers I used on the previous card.

For Christmas I had received a bunch of different EP along with the ink and heat gun, so I have been playing with what my DH had picked out, minus the white EP I just bought...anyway one of them was the DEP vintage photo, so I had tried it out, but didn't really like it. But now I know that I need to shake it before I use it and them rub some off and now I like it! Thanks to you and this class, it won't sit on the shelf unloved it'll get used!

I've been enjoying everyone's cards. I didn't think I'd get one made today, but then I saw this card by momo2grlz. It gave me an idea of what to do with an old PSX stamp that I've unsuccessfully tried to use in the past; I was never happy with the results.

This time I am happy. Thank you, momo2grlz!

Here's my card.

After searching a couple of M's, I found the Distress Embossing Powder at ACM but they don't have the paint dabbers - M's has those.
