Hello again, everyone!

Welcome to Part 3 of Week 3 of our class. The first project/video/pdf for this week is up HERE .

This week focuses on Paint...Ranger's Paint Dabbers. Today's video talks about resist.

And, of course, we need prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick a winner of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger. Please post your project by Sunday, 7/5 at 11pmEDT.

The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects for acrylic paints. You can use any products, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking Class, Week 3.

Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.

Have fun!

I thought you sounded a bit tired on the video today. I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for the video -- I love that you save the coolest techniques for Fridays. Too bad I'm about to be over-run with house guests this weekend. I'm still going to try to do some resist on dark cardstock in time for the deadline though; it looks like fun & the results are impressive.

It opened fine for me. Sorry you're not feeling well, Jennifer. In spite of that, the video was great. I never would have thought of embossing on fabric. These classes are fantastic!

Thank you so much, Jennifer. Being new to stamping, etc. this has been a wonderful way to learn new techniques.
I do have a question about the heat gun you are using. Is there a specific type you use or are they basically the same?
Appreciate the time and effort you put into all this, even tho you seem to be having lots of fun with it all.

Happy Fourth of July!

Resist on colored cardstock with acrylic paint is THE coolest thing I've learned so far, in Thinking Inking. Which is saying something, because it's all been pretty cool. I wish I had more time to play with this technique, but the house guests are arriving in 20 minutes, so this will have to do for now.

By the way, I noticed that the paint rubbed off when I handled the piece I had worked on. Should one use a sealant of some sort with this technique? I'm thinking maybe the stuff I use for chalk-colored images. Any advice or tips on preventing the paint rubbing off would be appreciated.

Well, I feel like I have a lot to learn about this technigue still. Maybe part of my problem was that I only had one green paint dabber and had to suppliment with 2 other green paints and a foam brush by Making Memories (or the fact that I used the textured Bazzill paper), but I was having a bit of trouble getting the embossed areas wiped off as beautiful at Jennifer did in the video. Anywho, here's my attempt at the Resist with Paint Technique

Back again with this . I do not own paint dabbers, but a lot of acrylic paints. My husband would kill me if I bought paint dabbers with all the paints in my cupboard

Mendi:

I had trouble with textured card stock too. I tried Bazzil, but it just soaked up the Versamark, so the embossing wasn't all that great. Then it held on to the paint when I tried to wipe it off. So I & tried some smooth surface card stock from Martha Stewart, and the technique worked the way it does in the video. I like textured card stock, but I won't be using it for projects like this anymore.

I loved all the techniques I tried this week! Very fun!!! My biggest difficulty this week was photographing the projects. I'm not the greatest photographer to start with, and it was next to impossible to capture the true shimmer & shine of these techniques. Oh well, here they are - my projects for week 3. Happy 4th of July everyone!

Week 3 Part 1, Paint with Shine

Week 3 Part 2, Resist with Paint

For some reason, this week was hard on me! I've made several cards this week, but didn't like any of them...maybe it's the colors I have, I'm not usually into bright orange, terra cotta, peach and gold! But it's what I had received from one of Tim's classes, so that's what I have on hand! The first card I posted has some blue that I borrowed and I did like that!

Here are two that turned out better than the rest!

Hi all,
I'm new to posting on this site, but just wanted to thank you for the thinking inking classes. I have really loved all of them and really am having fun with learning new techniques. I love the option of learning at home and referring back to the videos and pdfs as needed. I'll be sad to see this series end.

i love when the week wraps up because it means there are so many fun projects to see from YOU! great work!

yes, a lot of these techniques take practice. But that is half the fun!

you can spray with an art fixative if you want, but i never do. me = lazy. i have never had any problems.

Here are my cards for week 3 part 3. I had a more difficult time rubbing off the paint from the stamp that has more fine lines. It was much easier rubbing the paint off the flourish stamp.

I have a question about the second card you made, using the Light Paint Resist (the gold and copper on the pale cardstock). It looks like you stamped "True Friends" over top of the paint resist in a brown ink. Does that have to be a specific kind of ink, like Staz-on? Or will any ink work? Thanks!
