Hey there!!

Welcome to Part 3 of Week 5 of our class. The first project/video/pdf for this week is up HERE.

This week focuses on Alcohol Inks from Ranger. Today's video talks about using them with embellishments.

And, of course, we need prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick THREE winners of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger. Please post your project by Sunday, 7/19 at 11pmEDT.

The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects for crackle paint. You can use any products, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking Class, Week 5.

NOTE: If you don't have Alcohol Inks and are unsure it is for you, be sure to watch the videos. You will love it. If you don't have any (yet) to use, you can alter other embellishments for the challenge or use other inks. I don't want anyone left out.

Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.

Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the folded flower lesson. That is SO cool & such a different look for an embellishment that (let's face it) gets a little tired after a while. I wish my MM butterflies would hurry up & get here.

Also, congratulations on the amazing success of this class series. If the number of postings to the board is anything to go by, you've gone "viral," at least by Two Peas standards.

Anyway, here are today's offerings.

How funny, I was just playing around with some of these techniques last night!! I have gone Inking crazy! LOL! Here's a funny little story: I Tivo All craft shows I can find. On Wed. there was a small bit with Tim Holtz showing the dabbers and I was like COOL! Then on the other show I watched, It was YOU teaching the Kissing techniques with regular stamping and then right after I watched your Wed.'s inking video with those same techniques again! Which is really neat 'cause I hd never heard of doing that! So I have definitely been doing some "kissing" LOL!!

One question: When I use the felt pads on anything clear or acrylic I seem to get little fuzzies stuck on there and really show up with light colors unless Im swiping it...Any suggestions??

Thanks, Rhonda

Good question, Rhonda. I too had a hard time getting the little fuzzies off the acetate yesterday. Felt is notoriously linty, but I don't think anything else would work with alcohol ink. I hope Jennifer has a solution to this problem.

Those folded flowers are fabulous. I have so many blooms & lack ideas for placing them on projects. Thank you, Jennifer.

Here is my attempt at today's class:

I think I was a bit too heavy handed on the inks on the flower, though!

I'm new here at 2 Peas. I gave the alcohol inks challenge a try and created the following card. My picture doesn't do it justice.

Of course I had to be different. My first real attempt with alcohol inks are a soap dispenser and toothbrush holder.

Bathroom accessories

I'm having so much fun with these techniques that I had to post another project.

I asked tim, since i never had problems with the felt fuzzies. here is what he said...

use cut n' dry foam when working on clear surfaces where those fuzzies get in the way.

Those cards are so elegant Jennifer...love them!! Thanks for another great video!!

I think you mentioned in the first or second video about using Ranger's Archival Black ink as a resist on glassy paper. Well, I only have plain card stocks to play with and I tried stamp my image on the alcohol inked paper when it was still wet with VersaMark, and when the ink dries, the stamped image turned white!!! This is so fun to play with and I am so excited to find this out!! I don't remember if you have mentioned this in the videos, but this is so much fun!!! Thank you for teaching those wonderful classes!!

Had fun with this stuff. One of my projects is my fave to date with the class.

I also had 'fuzzy' problems !

Alice, thanks for the tip about the VersaMark Ink removing the alcohol ink. That's a new one for me.

Another ink that removes alcohol ink is Staz-on. I found that out the hard way. Solvent removes solvent.

Another card.

Well, I don't have alcohol inks from Ranger and I guess the result would be better with them, at least the buttom. But I loved this class.

Thanks for another great video Jennifer. Sad that we are more than halfway through

I think my lack of colour options had me a bit uninspired this week, but I did manage to do some quick tags today

OK...here is my try. Made lots of different bits and pieces that I will use on other projects. Only had time to make one card as I only just got to use a friends inks today.

Love the flower technique.

Sorry about the bad photo...but I had to take it after dark.

Ok, well with all that has been going on with our family tragedy, this week, I just couldn't get my head wrapped around everything even though alcohol inks are my Fav..they are the first Ranger products I ever used...oh well, I made a whole bunch of back grounds just to have for future use. So here are my attempts:
