Hey there!!
Welcome to Part 1 of Week 6 of our class. The first project/video/pdf for this week is up HERE.
This week focuses on Dimensional Pearls, Liquid Pearls and Stickles from Ranger. Today's video talks the basics.
And, of course, we need prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick THREE winners of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger. Please post your project by Sunday, 7/26 at 11pmEDT.
The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects for these paints. You can use any products, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking Class, Week 6.
NOTE: If you don't have these paints yet, you can use other similar paints for the challenge. I don't want anyone left out.
Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.
Enjoy! |

Jennifer: Thank you for doing these videos. You do it so effortlessly. I am watching them over and over to get them in my head. I have one question. How do you store the pads that you use to do backgrounds with Ranger's Distress inks? Thanks and keep educating us all. PS: I have spent tons of money on the products!

NitaD, I have been saving the PDF's on my computer and would be happy to email them to you if you'd like. Just peamail me your email address and I will send them over. I'm not having any trouble opening on my side so hopefully they will work for you after sending them. Are you a PC or Mac? (I'm not using mac).
Jennifer, I love the flicking idea and the idea making the dew drops too. So regarding your owls. My daughter did come in and interupt me so maybe I missed it, but did you actually stamp them or were they just paper pieced using the stamps as inspiration? Or wait, perhaps you stamped them on the back side of the patterned paper as a pattern and you cut them out and used the other side. Talk about a light bulb moment! |

for pmroche - i store my distress inks (all inks really) in those clear file folders you get at office max - the ones that are about 8x10 with a flap and the circle ties - about 1"deep - store them upside down - can see what the colors are and it easily keeps them upside down and juicy. don't know if this helps but works for me.

Here is my feeble attempt at this technique. I have never used Stickle paint before, and, was not real pleased with the result. But, I will try something else tomorrow - maybe a tag.

Cool! Gotta get me some of that white pearl stuff -- it'll save me a fortune on adhesive pearls. Anyway, I decided to make an extra page for my "Gardens" mini album this time. This is a fishy fantasy garden with dimensional paints and glitters. I did attempt to replicate a copper mica finish, like the one in the video, but I don't have the proper paint & my copper mica is far too fine for this. Anyway, here 'tis:

yes! i just stamped the owls on the back of the patterned paper. and i totally checked on the feet - they are drawn in with a pen.
i just store my inks stacked in a drawer. according to the ink companies, it doesn't matter if they are stored upside down or not. so just do whatever works best for you!

I just made a thank you card with distress ink, a Tim Holtz stamp and a popped thankyou sounds boring actually if you can't see it anyway I thought it turned out cute!
