Hey there!!
Welcome to Part 3 of Week 7 of our class. The first project/video/pdf for this week is up HERE.
This week focuses on Sticky Back Canvas and Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints from Ranger... and combining them with stamping. Please note that there are many incredible things you can do with Claudine Hellmuth's products. I just focused on some basic things, mostly with stamps. However, there is much more. She also has Gesso and Multi-Mediums that provide amazing results. Be sure to check those out too!
And, of course, we need prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick THREE winners of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger. Please post your project by Sunday, 8/2 at 11pmEDT.
The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects for these products. You can use any brand, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking Class, Week 7.
NOTE: If you don't have these products yet, you can use other similar things for the challenge. I don't want anyone left out.
****Keep in mind that you can do many of these techniques with regular fabric or canvas and paints. However, I promise the results are best with Ranger's goodies.
Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.
Enjoy! |

Jennifer, all three of these are terrific techniques. Your samples are beautiful. My favorite one is the watercolor stamping. Awesome.
BTW, until this series of classes, I've never had any desire to acquire rub-ons. Your resist technique using them has changed that.
Thank you for all your classes.

It's great to know that I can put the sticky backed canvas through my Cuttlebug. Unfortunately, Two Peas hasn't even shipped it yet, so I probably won't be able to try die-cutting & dry embossing it for a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, I'm off to find that swirly embossing die. It's awesome, as are these techniques. Thanks Jennifer. |

Once again I am amazed you were able to come up with three more wonderful techniques (it's any wonder that you didn't run out of things to share back in week 4). I'm also completely in awe how you always take these techniques and apply them in the most beautiful creations (and a bit jealous of your endless creativity ) Great job! |

Oh, I forgot to ask... Have you tried the sticky back canvas in your Silhouette? And if you have, does it dull your blade terribly? I've never tried any other materials in it out of fear of ruining the mat and blades so any info you have would be awesome! |

I would love to find out where that gorgeous purple flower button is from. I just love it and haven't seen any like that. Thanks a bunch. Amy

I got the purple button in a pack of old Autumn Leaves buttons. Just was a hidden treasure!
I have never tried it with my Silhouette. Been worried to try. Let me ask around and see if I can find an answer for you. |

I have a general Week 7 question - I notice that almost all of your projects have the canvas sewed to the card front? Is there a reason for that? Is the sticky-back strong enough to hold it to the card for the long haul, or does it need to be sewed on? I love the sewing look on cards, but I am waaaay too lazy to drag out my machine and go through all the hassle with it to do a card or two. Thanks much!

Hi All,
I love the butterfly die cut that Jennifer used in Week 7, Part 3 of the Thinking Inking series. I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know who makes it? Where can I purchase it, etc?

I do really like using textile on card- the change of texture just adds that oomph sometimes. Unfortunately the colour on the canvas on this card wasn't quite what I was going for- obviously I need some studio paints!

One of these days I'll get around to adding my badges.

I haven't seen the paints anywhere, but when Jennifer showed the use of the distress inks, I knew I could at least do the emboss resist on canvas with that. It's a pretty simple card. Here's the link:

Is anyone else having a problem posting to the gallery? Whenever I try to post my Week 7 project, I get a message back that just says "500" and no picture shows up on my posting. My picture is definitely less than 5 mb and it's a jpeg file.

My last card for week 7. I really like the look of the embossed swirls on the canvas.

For some reason my pics did not load [error msg 500], so I put a link in my submission since it will not let me update the pics at this time and I want credit for week 7!
Never would have dawned on me to emboss the canvas. I see myself using this technique a lot!
