Hey there.
Here is Part 1 of Week 8 of our class. The first project/video/pdf for this week is up HERE.

This week focuses on Perfect Pearls (a pigment powder) from Ranger.

And, of course, we need prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick THREE winners of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger. Please post your project by Sunday, 8/9 at 11pmEDT.

The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects for these products. You can use any brand, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking Class, Week 8.

NOTE: If you don't have these products yet, you can use other similar things for the challenge. I don't want anyone left out.

Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.

Enjoy!

I thought you might like to know that my 4 year old likes to watch your videos with me...and really has been wanting to try the technique to make the little pearls on a project and flick the back to round them out. She made a card last night and had so much fun trying this out. Thank you!!

Love the ideas you showed in today's video. I think my favorite was the flicking of the perfect pearls on the tag that you distressed. Thanks!

Hi Jennifer, Loving the class! Just one quick question about the distres inks. I notice that when you use the inking tool you are able to cover almost the entire tag with just a few swipes of the tool, when I use it, I only get a little area that is colored with ink and then I have to re-ink the tool. Do you do something to your foam first to get a lot of ink on them, or do I just need to use them a lot so the ink builds up? Thanks!

The gold Perfect Pearl over the Fired Brick Distress Ink is a gorgeous look for fall. I think I'm going to use that for some autumn die cuts. First, though, I may make a few bookmarks, just for fun.

Thanks Jennifer, awesome techniques, as always.

Great stuff as always Jennifer! Thanks!!

I also had one question, when using the Perfect Pearls with water, I'm guessing that you don't need to go and fix them with water, as you did in lesson 1...is that correct?

Thanks!

How about black ink with clear embossing powder? I too love butterflies so can't wait to try it. Actually, the fruit stamps with the perfect pearls Jennifer did also looked gorgeous. I haven't opened the perfect pearls I have but think I need a few more colours

if you mix it with waters, it will stay put and not rub off.

black ink with clear embossing powder works, too!

i use my inking tools A LOT so a lot of ink is built up.

Wow, loved this video Jennifer! The reaction between the distress ink and perfect pearls is fantastic! I am now addicted to making background papers with distress ink and flicking perfect pearl drops on them or just randomly painting freehand with the perfect pearls. Thanks so much!

Wow, I'm going to have to get some of Perfect Pearls! I love these techniques! I have always been something of a "casual crafter" but now that I'm staying home I am getting more into it and I am so happy 2Peas has all this great information for me. I normally would have walked right by this product in a craft store. Thanks for the great video!

I was having a melancholy day yesterday when I received my quote of the week from Compendium. It struck home with me, so I decided to use it on one of this week's challenges. Here is the result.

I can't wait to find some time to sit down and try out all these cool techniques with the perfect pearls--particularly the painting. I can see why the Heart Winged Butterfly is your favorite-- I think it's mine too--It just seems to look beautiful with any technique and it immediately jumped out at me on your bookmark!

jennifer, you are THE goddess of the stamping world. thank you so very much (and ranger and hero arts) for providing these classes. just what i needed to get a jump start back into making things.

okay, a question though (well actually two). first, do you add extra ink to your ink pads. i no way come close to getting such a dark, solid image from my stamping.

second, either i am just extremely messy, LOL, or no one else has asked, but are the backs of your projects a mess. not an issue of you are using the cs for backgrounds on cards or on pages, but i used tags for a lot of the techniques and wanted to use them to make bookmarks. however, the back of my work gets very messy from what is on my craft sheet. hey, i have been know to end up liking the back better than the front and using it, lol. on the ones i intended to use for myself i deliberately added more ink to the back. what do you do?

My projects also look this way. So, this morning when I did my 2nd series of holiday tags, I inked the back side 1st and then did the front.

Love the Splotching effect !
