Hey there.
Here is Part 3 of Week 8 of our class. The third project/video/pdf for this week is up HERE.

This week focuses on Perfect Pearls (a pigment powder) from Ranger.

And, of course, we need prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick THREE winners of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger. Please post your project by Sunday, 8/9 at 11pmEDT.

The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects for these products. You can use any brand, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking Class, Week 8.

NOTE: If you don't have these products yet, you can use other similar things for the challenge. I don't want anyone left out.

Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.

Enjoy!

Love the look of the embossed circles with the Perfect Pearls painted over the top.

Is that technique best to do on watercolour paper?

OK, that's it, I'm sold: Perfect Pearls are going on my big list of stuff to buy. I really like the Distress Ink & pearls trick, where the water makes the ink bleed out from under the coppery image. There's no way I can fake that with the stuff I have, so I'll have to get some Perfect Pearls. In the meantime, I'm going to see what I can do with some stamps, some mica & some ribbon.

Thanks Jennifer. As usual, Friday's video is the high-point of a really fun week of playing with stamps, ink & other stuff.

Here's my lame little card. Embossing on ribbon is very tricky, but I like the effect, I just need more contrast than I got with copper on orange.

Thanks for yet another wonderful week of new videos and techniques. I have oftened wondered about the perfect pearls, and they are now on my shopping list of things I must try. You have such a terrific "craft table side manner" about you and your videos are very enjoyable to watch. You make me think that I too can do this now that I have the know how! Makes me sad to think we have only one week left of your tutorials. I do so hope you will do more in the future. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for yet another great installment of this class. I'ts sad to know that we only have one week left! I was happy to be able to see a scrapbook layout with these techniques demonstrated. It's nice to get an idea of how they can work together. This class always inspires me and I can't wait to start playing with these products.

Thought I would try an 8x8 layout this time...the photo does not do justice to the sheen of the perfect pearls...but its there

My card - trees

I think I needed to use a stamp with more definition to it. It's not as vibrant as I'd like, but, it does glisten a bit!

Also, I didn't add a sentiment yet - maybe Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks so much for the inspiration...I had the most fun that I've ever had scrapbooking and using my tools that I have purchased and have let sit in my drawer. If I only knew that I had some true gems in my scrapbook stash!!! I had Broken China and Vintage Photo distress inks in my ink drawer and had tried to use them, but didn't really know how to make them work with regular stamps...then I took this class and really understand how to use them!

Thanks for the tip of mixing the perfect pearls with embossing powder...it worked great on both of the cards that I made...

Here are my two cards:
Butterfly Card
I used the kissing technique on the blue circle in the background...Distress ink, coat with pearls, ink up stamp and kiss
The butterfly has clear embossing powder mixed with the pearls over a pretty patterned paper for a resist technique.

Clear Pearlized Embossed Resist Tag Card

Thanks for looking

Here's my first attempt at perfect pearls and embossing powder. I had some pearl in my stash.

I think I'll definitely try it on flowers too.

Mary, go to the Stamping Gallery. On the left hand side, click on Upload a New Project. You'll be given step-by-step instructions:

1. Upload images--Click on Select Images and then browse through you harddrive to find where you have your card stored. Click on it.

2. Information about your project--Give your project a title and describe what you did and what you used.

3. Tags--I ignor the huge list and just write in the main media and techniques I used. Put quotations around multiple words you want to show up together or else they'll be alphabatized. Write "perfect pearls" not perfect pearls.

4. Challenges--Click on the appropriate box if you are entering a challenge.

5. Related Projects--This is optional. You can go looking for the product you used in the Two Peas store and link them here.

I hope this helps.

I tried out mixing clear EP with Perfect Pearls. It really looks good, but it doesn't show up in the scan.

Here it is anyway.

Wow! I'm addicted to flowers so I can totally see myself using the perfect pearls to give them new life. I also adored that last embossed techique--That brocade background stamp coming soon looks like a must have!!!

I have a home business that has gotten crazy busy these last couple weeks so I sadly haven't been able to play along, but I am so enjoy every minute of this class and will try to catch up when the kids go back to school. In the meantime I'm shopping and collecting.

Several weeks ago I thought I heard your phone ringing (and ringing). I couldn't believe how well you were able to keep your composure and just kept going without missing a beat. Very impressive! Oh, and Colin is a doll BTW, but you know that.
