Hi! Just wondering how payments are generally handled here, what options are considered acceptable.
Paypal? (not sure how that works between 2 individuals)
I mail you a check, then you mail me my stuff?
TIA |

I highly recommend using PayPal and make sure that when you are sending money to a seller, it is not as a Gift.

Also, these tips are good

I am generally a PayPal person, both for buying and selling. Any person who has your email address can send you money, so you just provide your email address to the buyer. Some people ask for money to be sent as a "gfit" because that means that PayPal doesn't take out the fees. I *personally* don't ask people to do that becuase I factor in the fees into my pricing. Plus, money sent as a gift doesn't offer PayPal's "protection" if the seller doesn't follow through. I don't have the patience to wait for a check to clear as a seller or buyer, so I stick with PayPal.
I'm sure that others are comfortable with other scenarios though |

Every transaction I've ever done (either buy or sell) has been thru Paypal. I go back and forth as to whether I use gift or have not. When I sell something I usually issue a PP invoice. And 8 times out of 10 I buy via PP invoice as well.
Some people ask for Gift Certificates to either here or SC. I've personally never done that. But if I felt comfortable with the person I wouldn't have a problem doing that form of payment either. |

I don't have a paypal account, so when buying from another pea I ask if they are willing to take a MO. That way it is not a risk for them with a personal check and it only costs me a little bit to buy a MO.

I only use PP and I don't use the gift option. PP provides a service for which they deserve to be paid. I will occasionally make an exception when I am not selling my stash but have gone to the store specifically to get something for someone and if I know them well enough to not worry about them claiming fraud and getting their money back later. If you are selling....a comment about the money order:
If it is a USPS money order, you can cash it at the post office. No need to run it through your bank account.

I also vote for paypal as goods. It protects you whether you are the buyer or seller. I think it is .30 cents a transaction. Something small so worth it to me. | |

I've sold many things here and I only take Postal money order. It's never been a problem. I also think it matters how comfortable you feel about the person you're buying from. I'm on the good sellers list. I've also been here a long time, too. . I pay with PP but I'm not set up to take PP. |
