How is everyone liking the project life trend in a lot of the new collections ? I know I am really liking this. I have never tried the project life thing before. I am going to try the idea but not quite a weekly entry.

I haven't done it either, but I love the format of the pages, and may try some divided pages....looks really cute, and a different way to think about design...kind of like building blocks.

I love all of the different companies coming out with this, but honestly, it is not something that ever interested me. I have no little ones and there would be some weeks where I know that I wouldn't take photos. I guess I feel that I just don't have enough pics to fill something like this.

I am just doing PL for the first time this year. I am using a Becky Higgins core kit but like the fact that there are so many wonderful options out there this year. Might have to look into that for next year.

I like the papers and embellishments, but am over the stamps. So many of them seem like duplicates.

Please don't bash me because I know that I am a minority here, but I didn't care for the PL system and threw in the towel after about three weeks last year. It's hard to keep up with. I have spoke with quite a few scrappers who have felt the same and I wonder if this trend, is more of a "fad".

I like getting all the regular stuff down so I can make scrapbook pages more about special stories or events.

When you have a year's album all done and can look through it, you can really see the value in doing it.

This is my first year and I'm using a BH kit for ease and simplicity. I know there are enough cards to last the whole year and I just supplement with some coordinating washi and stickers etc from my own stash.

I love that there are other companies doing PL type supplies but I'm not sure that I could bothered to work out much of everything I need to last a year? Perhaps I'm just lazy!

The other thing is that I've read on other posts that sometimes the cards from one brand don't always fit the pockets of another brand which would frustrate me.

Finally, some of the ranges are so huge that I just wouldn't know where to start narrowing down what I need! I love Snap but there are tons of products!

For me, I wanted to keep PL as simple as possible hence ordering a BH kit.

That all being said another part of me is bored seeing just PL type releases because I'm sorted on that front and want regular supplies!

[I have no little ones and there would be some weeks where I know that I wouldn't take photos. I guess I feel that I just don't have enough pics to fill something like this.] [/quote]

I felt this way, but I started doing PL in 2010, and now I can't stop! We don't have kids, but it's surprising how much there is to take photos of. I don't feel that I have to take a photo every day, although I usually do.

I'm using SS sn@p this year, but oh my, some of those new BH kits are gorgeous. I love Rain, Kraft and Honey.

PS Hope this works - I haven't "quoted" before!

I am into the second week and already having difficulty finding things to photograph. I have my own spin on PL that is not weekly that I did last year. But I do like the idea of keeping track of events, trips and holidays.

I don't do PL, but I like the trend. This is why. I like to use the PL approach for long vacations (over a week). I also like to use the divided page protectors to showcase the extra photos after I do a LO. This is especially true for an event where there are a lot of photos.

My DD graduated from HS last year. My 20 yo niece came and took 500 photos over 2 days. It was great and 3/4's of her shots were awesome. After making 20+ pages of my DD with all of her special guests, food, decorations, etc, it was nice to put the rest of the pictures into photo sleeves. Adding some decoration to those type of pages helped make those pages coordinate in the book better.

I plan to add in more of the divided page protectors into my books, but for the most part will be doing traditional 12x12 LOs.

If my kids were younger and changing so quickly (and were around more often!), I could see the value in project life style scrapping. And I can see it as a great way to scrapbook a vacation. Especially since I tend to take hundreds of photos on a trip.

But it's not for me for every day. My weeks would look the same, couple pics of horse related things from riding lessons, couple notes about grocery shopping or going to the gym, couple more horse pics, Claire and Macy having a sleepover. Repeat. Most weeks anyway.

So all the products that are geared towards scrapping that way make less new products for me to choose from. Some stuff I could use and I might try to do an entire vacation that way but for the most part it's like stamps. I don't even look at it.

I have no intention of doing a PL style album, but I do like using all the little cards for journaling and in embellishment clusters, so it's a thumbs up for me.

I like the trend, but not just for PL. This is my 2nd year doing PL, but I often am looking for larger journal boxes, so I like that so many companies are putting our 3x4 and 4x6 sizes. I incorporate these into regular 12x12 LOs.

I don't "DO" project life. However, I do use those sheet protectors for multi-day layouts that I want to document but maybe aren't quite a whole page worthy or for extra photos of a layout event. So I like the smaller cut aparts and stamps and what-nots.

I did project live in 2009 and loved it. I did mix in 12 x 12 layouts so that I could mix in "regular" scrapping. I also mixed in digital because I downloaded so may PL templates. I love that big heavy book. I don't have small kids but it was fun to look for meaningful things to take pictures of.

I would not do it every year, but thinking I will do it again. I love all the new options besides the BH system.

Perfectly happy to see it as it doesn't really have to just be used only for PL (and vice versa of course)

I am doing Project Life, but on a monthly basis. I also do separate layouts for special events (i.e. birthdays, holidays, etc.) Keeping up with it weekly was too much, but this is much more manageable.

i LOVE it. I started last year and made it for several months, but faded. I am starting up again this year, whenever my Studio Calico PL kit arrives. I like the idea of uniform colors/products
throughout a project though so that is challenging to me sometimes.

Its funny I guess I was ahead of the curve on this one because I have done it for two years and decided that this year I wanted to do something different. I love love love my PL albums and will probably still include some sort of monthly wrap up using the divided PP-- but the detail of daily life not interested in a 3rd year.

I too am giving PL a go but only for things I would have photographed anyway.

I think journaling cards are super easy to incorporate in 'regular' scrapping, so I like seeing those. I like to keep a bunch ready to go, so my journaling ends up being done at the beginning of the page, and not forgotten.

Yes, I can spell. No, my Kindle can't.
Just my humble opinion. And no, I wasn't being mean.

I was wondering if you could tell me which manufacturers/new lines you think would be good for Project Life. I haven't been able to keep up with the announcements. Thanks for any help you can give.

While I'm a fan of PL, I am a little concerned about the massive rush to produce content for it by all the major manufacturers. This year I've felt a bit like they've left traditional scrapbooking behind and although I love that the PL stuff is versatile and can be used in other ways, so far I feel like this year's show is lacking a little substance. Overall, it seems like I'm seeing the same thing at every booth, whereas in the past there seemed to be a lot more variance. I just don't want companies to abandon other products to move in the PL direction; hopefully there will be a better balance in the future, now that the big initial push is out.

That being said, I still really like a lot of the stuff that's come out to supplement PL.

I love you, whatever that means.

I love having options, but I'm also more matchy, matchy too. I love that other lines are coming out because then I can get more ideas of how to use them in traditional layouts too (through sketches, blogs, etc)

I don't do Project Life and don't, particularly, care for the trend. I don't mind "journaling" cards ... as a stand alone element. But I don't like sheets of paper pre-printed with blocks of design that are specifically intended to fit only one size.

And -- I am constantly surprised at the lack of creativity and innovation in what is, in essence, a "creative" industry. Decorating photo pockets is a great idea; that idea grown into "something else" by Becky; now that is too much of what we see and have made available to us -- some one else's "piggyback" on an already getting old idea.

I am PL "style". I like all the kits, page protectors, etc. I just use them like I would a 12x12 layout. I can't do weekly, or even monthly. It is mostly vacations and holidays or special events. So I get to use all the goodies, but scrap the pictures I want.

I love the concept of Project life, but could never embark on that kind of "obligation". I scrapped over the weekend, but hadn't for a few months now, so Project life would never work for me. But I love to see what others make. I do not necessarily like/want all the project life stuff.

I plan on combining project life type layouts (I don't expect I will approach a 52 week goal however), 12x12 layouts, my one little word projects, and maybe more in my 2012-2013 album. I am also going to add in my 2012 december-not-so-daily pages, as i have not found much creating time lately.

I love the products and look forward to experimenting!

Shirt said: " I also like to use the divided page protectors to showcase the extra photos after I do a LO."

Me too...Forgot to say this! I want to include more photos...I especially like the AC 6x12 page protectors for this, with maybe one or two photos embellished.

And Loydene said "And -- I am constantly surprised at the lack of creativity and innovation in what is, in essence, a "creative" industry."

I disagree, and I know you probably didn't mean that -no one- is creative w/ project life. I think if you look at, for just one example, Lexi's video posted here on Saturday, you will see lots of detail and individual expression.

(sorry I don't know how to quote, especially on the app)

Johanna, I don't think Loydene was referring to whether or not crafters are creative with their use of Project Life or PL-type products, but rather that manufacturers are not being creative and instead jumping on the same idea(s). Personally, I like this trend because right now, Project Life is my primary approach to scrapbooking, but I can see how it would frustrate some.

Still wondering which lines you're seeing coming out that are PL-ish or PL-friendly -- can someone help me??

I am going on my 5th year of Becky Higgins Project Life, I started when the 1st run was called Project 365. Every year I say this is my last year, but I see the new designs and I get sucked back in the craze. I do like the variety now though, just seemed limited before and about 1/2 way through I got sick of seeing the same designs over and over. It's going to be fun mixing some of the kits.

I love it, but soooo many choices! Last year was my first and I ordered the Clementine kit. I decided that this year I'd use what I have, then Studio Calico came out with a pl subscription, which I had to join and Becky has several new pl kits which I'm digging too!

I started last year but failed in February so I am starting again only doing a double page layout per month as I don't want to include stuff I wouldn't scrapbook ordinarily. I love mixing up the different protectors now though so I can do a page and half or three pages I think shimelle e 6x4 class in 2011 enabled me to embrace that
