I only have a few rolls. I have my eye on the whitewashed wood grain and the camera one.

What colors do you use the most? Determine that, then get rolls in those colors and patterns that you can use without getting sick of. A roll of washi lasts a looooong time. My personal faves are a red and white candy came stripe and a B&W film strip pattern.

The one I use the most is a green tea coloured one, I think teal would be very flexible. A chevron I think also needs to find its way into my shopping basket, and I always liked spotty ribbon so a spotty washi makes sense. I am not too sure on wood grain generally but in a washi that could be cute

Either get something to use as an accent, as in a punch of color that you love but don't want too much of, or get something that would act as a neutral and go with most of your favorite colors.

And by neutral, I don't necessarily mean browns or creams or blacks. It could be blue, pink, red, green...... any color that is basic to your subject.

I'm working on a Christmas over the years album, and I just bought several rolls based on those colors that can also be used very easily elsewhere.

I love washi and a have a small stash, maybe a dozen. There are so many out there, but I tend to stick to the designs and colors that I'll use more often vs only one time...gotta make my supplies stretch, literally!

I just used my first washi EVER! I am in love! I bought the red with white polka dots. So cute. I love the feel of it. I love how it adds so much to my layout and it is SO simple!

Now I want to go shopping!

My 'washi' is on the spin cycle in my Maytag. Haven't seen a 'must have' so far.

I have five rolls and they are all Disney from Queen and Co.

I love the looks of it but I don't really think I would use it in other designs. I have used and know I will continue to use the Disney as I take so many Disney pics, I am always looking for new stuff!

I really love looking at it though!

I love ones with geometric patterns - dots, stripes, chevrons - they seem to work with most patterns/themes... I tend to buy tapes that have one or two colours (in addition to the white/background) because I find them easier to combine than ones that have are more multicoloured but I love seeing how other people mix tapes...

I picked up package at M's that has a medium width camera tape and a more narrow film strip one...

I have tons of washi, but my faves are:
chevron patterns in red and blue(or aqua)... Also like nice florals like OA Woodland.

I do have some woodgrain that I want to use, but haven't done the right LO for it yet.

I use the dictionary print one from Tim Holtz the most.

I just got a rod to hang them all up in my scrap space and was surprised to find out that about a third of my collection is blue! I guess I need to work on filling out my rainbow!

I buy what looks pretty to me, not necessarily to match collections. Love it all!

The simple patterns are the most versatile--dots, chevron, diagonal stripes. Just pick colors you love. My favorites are green, grey, yellow, orange, and pink.

Different brands have different textures, too. The Smash brand and Bella Blvd washi tapes are thicker. The ones by My Mind's Eye and Lawn Fawn are more translucent. It is fun to mix and match.

Just wanted to add that some brands are not transparent-ish. Some have a white backing, one brand that comes to mind is Bella Blvd.

I bought polka dot patterns and a text print when I was just starting out. Then I added some chevrons, a cloud print, a heart print, a star print. Now I'm trying to beef up my collections with colors I don't have. I don't really have any green - lots of blues, reds, black & white, and pink.

I love Washi tape and have a great stash of it,but my true love is this tape LACE TAPE
I get the lace look I love, without having to figure out how the heck to adhere it! Bought it in pink white, and cream--I just love it! Just another option for anyone who is interested and loves lace like I do.
