I am going to steal an idea from Lemonade Stand in the Pub and make an all info thread for the NSBR and link it in my sig. Any other Pea who would like to do this, please do!
Thanks Sunshine for giving me the idea!
Here goes:
First and most important!: Break up your post! Use paragraphs (hit enter twice between large blocks of text). Your post will not get read as much if you don't!
Also: Please, if your have a sentence as your signature use something to "break" it from your post. A small line of dashes, stars, whatever. It gets old to read the same sentence over and over when you post. Just make sure it is not too long (max, 20). As far as blinkies, pics, etc., in your sig the general rule is make sure no one has to scroll across to read the thread. In other words, don't make it too wide. Some Peas would probably like me to add: Don't make it too long either!
Try to use proper capitalization and grammar. It makes it easier to read.
Do a search before you post a question. For example: "Anyone know of any good LSS in Vegas?"
This is discussed on a REGULAR basis around here and it gets old seeing the same thread over and over again.
If you can find the answer to your question by an easy search then by all means GOOGLE it first!
Tips for the new board, November '07
Adding Profile Pic and Blinkie To Your Siggy--instructions with pics!
Adding a layout and general FAQs
How to add a link to your post (like to a layout, blog or resume)
How to add a link to your signature line
How to make your comments look fancy when posting a LO (line breaks, font size, color, etc.)
(Another )Profile Pictures, Free Hosting, How to Size, and How to Add to Profile or Signature
Misused words that really bug people
Lemonade Stand's "Everything Thread"
Acronyms/Pea Dictionary (or "What does ITA mean?" )
Pea Titles (Or what the heck are those words under my name?)
Yvonne's Epic History of the NSBR thread
How to make a photobar
Yungmom's funny "Rules of the NSBR" thread
Bunch of Scrapbooking tips
Bunch of Photography tips
And here are more:
To Quote: After hitting Reply, go down and hit the Quote button. Two quote brackets will appear. Copy and paste the words you want to quote in between the two. Hit enter a couple of times and then type your response.
When you have duplicate posts: There is a little red X at the top of your posts. Just click on it to get rid of posts.
When you want to edit your post (or add something so you aren't making multiple posts in a row): Same as above only use the little paper/pen icon. If you want to change the title, same thing, just hit edit on the original post. You cannot edit the title if you post a poll.
When you want someone on ignore: Under the person's name is a person with a minus symbol. Hit that.
To save a thread or post: Thread: At the very top of thread hit the green plus sign. Post: Hit the green plus sign under user name.
How to find your old posts: Go to the top of the page. It will say "You're logged in as _______" Hit your name. It will take you to your "home". Then hit the "View Recent" link.
How to turn on/off sigs: If it takes too long to load or you just don't like sigs, go to the bottom of any thread and hit hide/show sigs.
What else do I need to add?

Define controversial threads. Political or otherwise type threads or those threads that are related to trolls or trollish actions? I've wondered this myself and thought...hmm, now I might be putting myself into the troll category w/o knowing it. |

She means don't ask for any Scrapbooking Supplies, Money, etc until you've posted at least 1,000 posts.
It appears rude when a new Pea starts asking for hand outs so soon after joining. |

Oh, I am so against this one! Sorry!
Sorry Denelle, just adding things when asked.
The "Store in Vegas" is probably a bad example for this. It should probably be more like "I could have easily found the answer to this question in less than 30 seconds if I Googled it but instead I am going to post a whole thread about a very simple question".
ETA after the ETA: I know Denelle. Just giving some guidelines that might make it more pleasant for new peas to feel comfortable, the "unwritten rules" and all that. These are not rules carved in stone and you will not be cited by the Pea Police (Though I can't speak for the Altoona Dept.)if you don't follow them. I actually think that some of the rules will make it more pleasant. |

If this is on the second page:
Someone on page 1 has added a pic to her sig and it has caused the whole thread to go wonky so you have to scroll. I have emailed her and I'm sure she will fix it as soon as she can.
After she fixes it the thread will go back to normal. No biggie. |

Do you mean if you don't copy it before you hit reply? If I need to quote multiple people on different pages I just scroll down if they are on the first page, copy, hit quote, type my response. Then if I want to quote someone else on the next page I just hit page 2, copy, then hit the back button to get back to my reply post.
Does that make sense? |
