My sons' doctor just prescribed this for his constipation. He is 3 1/2. We put it in juice today and he barely drank any of it. Can we put it in milk?
Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Mix it in milk. He wont taste it. We put it in chocolate milk and there were no problems. Give it some time to work though. She used to call it feet milk. No idea why. She said it made her feet feel better, I told her it was for her butt : )

My son was given Glycolax (which I think is very similar to Myralax) and I mixed it into Gatorade. My son said he couldn't taste the difference. I would definitely think you could mix it into milk.

Good luck! Kimberly

I've tried mixing it into just about every beverage but DD would not drink it. I finally began mixing it into her applesauce and that has done the trick.

I'm on several diets. I don't get enough food on just one.

I thought there was a warning about mixing it in milk on the label, but I might have it confused with another RX.

For dd, I put hot water in a water bottle (around 8 oz) and then add the Miralax. It dissolves almost immediately. I then add a good splash of apple juice for flavor.

DD says there isn't an after taste.

My daughter takes this daily as well and we just mix it in either milk, warm tea, or cranberry juice. There is no after taste and there is no smell which is great for us!

Thanks! I checked the bottle and there is nothing on there about milk. I will try that as he is faithful about his morning chocolate milk but could really care less about drinking throughout the day.

if he eats cereal... pour him a bowl of cereal and mix it up in the milk in the cereal. He'll eat the cereal and not even think of it

we put it in milk every morning--but if he doesn't drink it right away--it gets too thick.

I would NOT mix it in milk! I asked if we could mix it in that, and the pharmacist said no. I am not exactly sure why, but they did say no to the milk. We don't give juice, but she loved water, and never said anything about the taste. I would say juice or water though.

milk is sometimes linked to constipation so mixing the two is counter-productive...

it shouldn't have a taste to it. I mixed my 2 DDs with juice and they took it fine. Good luck, hope he gets cleared up soon!

I took it for myself in water and it was yucky. I think the secret is to drink it fast!

I mix it in her apple juice everyday. She's now 6 and has had Miralax since she was 3 months old (and only on breastmilk)! For us, it is much harder to dissolve in milk. It takes forever, and there's lots left on the bottom when she's done drinking. It mixes right up in the apple juice.

My son takes it daily & at first only wanted it in Gatoraide...I think he thought of the Gatoraide as a treat. But now will take it in anything from Koolaid to juice.

My daughter has been on Miralax for several years. She likes it in butterscotch pudding. We tried milk and it seemed to was yuck! We have tried it in everything you can imagine and the pudding is the only way she actually likes it.

ETA: The miralax makes the pudding the consistance of a milkshake.

We mix it in apple sauce. We used to mix it in water, but the DS wouldn't drink all of it, so we started the apple sauce thing because he would eat it all.

My dd takes that and we mix it in chocolate milk. I water down the milk so it is pretty much half water half milk and then I mix in a lot of Nesquik powder. She doesn't even notice and she likes to help make it up.

We mix it in her formula, but that doesn't really help you.

DD won't drink juice. So, not sure what we will do when she gets off the formula.

My 11 yo recently used this and we mixed it in regular fruit juice, he said he didn't taste a thing...and he's the first to complain if he can taste any "yuckiness".

Give it a few days son took 3 days to finally "go' and boy did he don't stay too far from home.

We mix it in whatever juice we have in the fridge. Dd has been on it for a few years and she likes it if the juice is really cold.

Ok, Hi Miralax moms. I am one too. My DS has been on for two months now. It was like his bowels have always been sluggish just shortly after he was born. He was constantly constipated for months. So my ped said we would try this after the whole Karo syrup, prune juice ordeal. He wants us on it for 6 mos. For those whose kids have been on longer can you tell me why? What I mean is did you see a Ped GI specialist? Is there any harm from them being on it for years? Do you use it all the time. We do 1tsp in am then 1 tsp before bed mixed with water then we add the formula. I have another friend whose daughter is on it, but she is older. Thanks for replies.

I'd like to know how young your child was when they started, and what was the cause, also.

Ds was exclusively bf until he was 2 months. He had normal bm's at first. Once in awhile we thought we smelled odd fruity odors so the pediatrician did an amino acid panel which was normal.

Ds can't seem to push it out. He grunts, groans, works on passing a small amount for hours. We'll think "ok, all that noise, red face, smell, he did it". Nope.

His bm's are normal, but he can't get them out. They aren't hard, huge, weird, he just struggles.

Next week he's being seen at our Children's Hospital in the reflux/gerd constipation clinic. it's run by nurse practioners.

FWIW: he loves

activia, grapes , watermelon, brocoli, graham crackers, apples, water

He ate at least 10 grapes yesterday and they didn't do anything. He could eat 4 pieces of watermelon and he wouldn't have the runs.

He's on 1 to 2 tsp of miralax a day.

My son is 3 and has been on it for 1.5 years. We mix it in his milk, and his twin brother is jealous that he doesn't get any "medicine".

We were "prescribed" it by a GI Specialist. Once we got over the initial bump, we now only use it as needed, which is maybe once a month.
