I was thinking this morning about how many great things I've learned from all the wonderful Peas on this site, and I know there are always new Peas joining in. I thought it might be helpful to them if we posted answers to some common questions all in one place, along with any really great tips that you use a lot in your scrapping. Here are mine, and feel free to add your own...
Tutorial for installing fonts on your computer
Printing your computer fonts in reverse (so you can cut them out)
Resizing a font larger than 72 point
Help with fonts that don't have punctuation
How to host a profile pic--see link below for how to add it
Easy page stitching program
Fundamental Principles of Design
Frugal scrapping tips
Tips for adhering vellum
Instructions for setting eyelets
Scrapbooking FAQ's (lots of tips for embellishments from the Garden Girls)
Using fonts without installing them on your computer: I save all my fonts in a folder that I call "Camille's Fonts". The ones that I use frequently, I also install in the computer's font folder (settings>control panel>fonts), which is what makes them show up automatically in my word processing program, etc. The ones that I don't install can still be accessed by opening them in Camille's Fonts, then opening my word processing program AFTERWARD. If you open the word processor after the font, it will temporarily show up so you can use it.
To print on scraps of paper: type up your title or journaling so that it looks like you want it to, then print out a test sheet of paper. (I set my printer to print in black and white and on draft mode so that it uses very little ink.) Carefully adhere your scrap of paper over the printing--I lightly tape it along the top edge with scotch tape--then send the paper back through the printer.
How to add a link in your posts: Open a new window by going to File>New>Window. Go to the page you want to link to and copy the URL at the top of the page (highlight it, then right click and do "copy" ). Close the new window which should bring you back to the message you're posting. Underneath the emoticons on the screen where you type your message, click on "URL". A box will pop up that says "script prompt"--paste in your URL by right clicking on the typing area and then clicking "paste". Click "okay" and then type what you want the link to say, then click "okay" again.
These are things that I've used a lot or questions that seem to come up frequently. Hope it helps some of you Peas out there!
Edited to add another couple of tips:

Girl! You are sweet to post all that! I have been here forever but I had never read the one about using fonts without installing them. Duh! That is a great idea! Sometimes I just want to try a font before I install it. Now I know what to do! Thanks!!!!!

I have a kind of unconventional tip, but it really helped me when I first came here.
***Learn how to use the Search function here on 2Peas.***
I don't mean this in a bad way at all. Before I post a question, I normally do a quick search for related threads. Nine times out of ten I find a TON of information answering my exact question without having to wait for Peas to respond. It also helps the board slow down a bit ensuring that new threads that haven't been covered before stay on top a little longer.
Don't get me wrong, everyone here is super friendly and willing to help with even the most basic questions. Doing a search is just a fast way to get answers and slow down the board a little.

I have a couple of "unspoken" rules that new peas might be interested in knowing.....
1. Don't type in all caps, if possible. This indicates "yelling" and some people (like me! )find that really annoying.
2. "Gallery Hogging" is pretty contraversial. (Gallery Hogging being when someone posts many layouts to the Peanut Gallery all at once). It isn't technically against the rules or anything but I avoid it because it really drives some people nuts!
3. Don't ever, ever, ever say anything that could be construed as negative on the Peanut Praise boards. It is not the place for "constructive criticism" and you will be ripped apart and remembered for a long, long time!
I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all or anything like that. These are just a few things that I have seen unknowing Newbies do and then get flamed. Sometimes to a crisp! And then I feel bad for them, 'cause how were they supposed to know that "gallery hogging" is looked down upon?

My biggest tip would be:
Don't run out and buy everything you see in magazines, etc.
I had to have a bunch of stuff and now some of it I hardly ever use...I forget I have it!

Hey Michele! If you're logged on to 2Peas when you look at a layout, you should see a place right under the poster's name that says
"Add layout to my Book of Scraps"--click there. To get to your watch list, you click on "My Home" at the top of the message board screen (again, you must be logged on). Hope that helps and welcome!

I didnt see one about installing animated signatures. So here is my contribution. Here is a short list of signatures. There is WAY more out there. Most are free but some are not. So find one you like and right click on it. Save it to your desktop. Then you need to go to inkfrog. com (thats what i use) and set up a free account. Then you browse for your image and upload it. Then right click on image, click on properties, and copy the URL. Then go to Edit your Profile which is under service Center on 2Peas. Down in your signature line, paste your image URL. Then you need to type this before your image: Click update. Edited to say, it wont let me type what you need to type before and after the url. You can email me if you want.
Have fun Sig searching! Signatures
