What a great event this has been! So much creativity and inspiration to feast our eyes on!
Our previous events, if you want to check them out:

RAK winner: eagertoretire!

Batik Resist Challenge - djc (Daria)
RAK winner: embee!

POST IN THE GALLERY
First go to the STAMPING gallery. On the left you'll see a link under Participate called "UPLOAD A NEW PROJECT." Be sure the first item on that next page says you're posting to the stamping gallery; if not you can change that. Give your project a title (for WinterStamp, put WS at the start of your title, and include what challenge its for) and description, and under "pages" select how many photos you want to upload into that project. (Skip the tags for now.) Then click "SUBMIT." After you've submitted, a bunch of boxes will appear below where you can link your images; click "BROWSE" and search on your hard drive for the image. After they're all selected, click "SUBMIT" again. You're done with that part!

POST YOUR LINK ON A THREAD
Then go to the stamping gallery and click on your project. When it comes up in the main window, select the url of that page (in the bar at the top of your browser) and COPY it. Then go to the thread you want to link to. Start a reply, and look at the "Insert Pea Code" area, and click "URL." A new dialog box will appear, and you DELETE WHAT IS IN that box, and replace it with the url that you just copied by pasting it. Click ok. In the window it will appear as a bunch of gibberish for the time being, but once you click SUBMIT and look at it in the thread, it *should* be a link. Note that it always pastes any of the inserted peacode at the END of whatever you're typing, so if you want it within the text above, either copy/paste it to a new location or don't type the last part til after you put in your url.

Great Post, Sandy!

May I add to it?

Since our group's first venture in doing this kind of thing [WSW], we've all made lots of new friends. And... We've also got lots more 'members' who post sketches, challenges & 'for fun'stuff.

Sooo... Just keep posting, asking questions & whatever--we are Family! [I'm the 'funny' uncle]

Sandy, I've decided my challege will be to make "Macho
Valentines." I was thinking how I really prefer to make Valetines with pink hearts, lace, etc. as opposed to more masculine Valentines. So it will be a challenge for me as well to think in terms of no pink, no ribbons, no lace borders.

thanks for the banners Sandy,
i feel like a real dork, i just spent i don't know how much time trying to add one to my blog and i cant make the gif blink on it... if i upload straight from my hard drive they don't blink, and if i upload from photobucket they won't even go in, tells me i have an invalid url...

evidently i haven't messed with this in so long I've forgotten how to do it.

Stacy, if you want the banner in a post, you have to switch from "compose" to "edit HTML" and paste the code in.

If you want it in the sidebar, add a page element, choose HTML/Java Script and paste the code.

I can email the code from mine if you want...

Love the tote, Leslie. Got a question, though... What 'polys' are we talking? How about polyester, polystyrene, polyvinylacetate...? 'Course I do have 'some' poly in my stash--including food-storage bags!

Now where did I stash that leisure suit?

Planning on 2 WinterStamp 'challenges'.

#1. Stencil & Stamp: All pieces must include stenciling & stamping. *wink* If you have stamps that come in 'punch-out' form [like Inque's] you already have a stencil 'set'.

#2. Stretch-A-Stamp: All pieces must include one stamp image that has been 'stretched' in some manner--piecing or masking or ? are definite options. My dragon [Posh] is but one example.

RAKs will be provided!

And... Those who do 'Fashion' examples [wearable & home decor] will get an extra 'ticket'!

They'll warm the cockles of their creative hearts by being part of WinterStamp!

Let's keep this alive 'Merrie Band'! Hoping some of our 'newbies' will host--don't sweat RAKs. And doesn't have to be a 'challenge'. We love games & such, too!

Yes, yes I want to play too!!! So sorry too many things were happening earlier but I definately want to play in the Winter Fest. I have a couple challenges I want to include:
1. A Few Loose Threads-participants will need a brayer and piece of piece of cheesecloth (8x10 size will be more than plenty) in order to play in this technique challenge. Cheesecloth is not very expensive and can be purchased at a fabric shop. Buy I do have plenty so if you want to PM me with a mailing address before Jan 21 I will pop a small envelope back in the mail to you...and we will keep our fingers crossed for the snail mail! RAK an acylic stamp set by Sassafras.

2. My House--You will find everything you need for this challenge right at your fingertips. RAK announced soon.

Goodie, goodie I look forward to tons of fun!...Jan

Far North. Your challenges sound really interesting! Can't wait to see the details--not that long to wait. BTW. I've found cheesecloth @ the supermarket, but not in the 'dairy case'. And many hardware stores carry it, too. Question. Would gauze bandage work, also? It's very similar to cheesecloth.

We're certainly getting a great mix of challenges & stuff! Thanks to all who are hosting &/or planning to play. Extra big THANKS to Sandy [Colourful] for doing so much of the planning & more--love the banners!

Let's continue to keep WinterStamp near the top of our threads list. Questions & suggestions are always welcome!

Looking over the field for WinterStamp, I'm seeing so many 'HA HA' possibilities...

And... Lots of 'two [3,4 & more]fers'! For instance... Dawn's 'Gothic Arch'. Want to make a stencil 'n stamp version & add some 'poly' for Leslie's challenge. Might just look for some 'vintage' for WildHeart's!

WinterStamp looks like a great way to 'cook' with all the ingredients we're offering!

We certainly have 'recipes for success' with our Celebrations!

Thanks for the tip on where to find cheesecloth in the grocery store...no wonder I thought they stopped stocking it LOL!

As long as your taking about a fabric that is very loosely woven you can adapt it to this technique...burlap...onion bags...yep pull out a small piece of that stash you have! ...Jan

Sounds great, Jan. In our local grocery store, they keep the cheesecloth on the cleaning supplies aisle &/or the baking supplies. When in doubt ask a clerk & if they're 'clueless' yell for the manager!

Onion bags! LOL! Used to save those, too!

Can't wait to see your challenge! I'm very intrigued...

Judy, judy, judy! Great question!

Preparing for WinterStamp? I'd read all the challenges & see what I have onhand. Since we've 'gone full week format', you'll have time to find anything you don't already have around. But--with rare exceptions--none of the challenges are 'product specific'.

For the 'opening day', I recommend having a good stash of yummy snacks & such. And... [unless they share your passion] loosing husband, kids & any other distracting people!

HTH!

Hey Judy---I like to get lots of cardstock cut and folded, all my stamp pads reinked (I find they work better if they get reinked and then "sit" for a day before use) and like Daniel said---stock up on snacks! The last thing you wanna be distracted by is a rumbling tummy!

Another way I'm getting ready for WinterStamp?

I'm looking over the list of challenges with an eye to those that might let me 'double up' my work. For instance; Dawn [3B Mom] has a 'gothic arch' & I have a 'stencil & stamp'. I can already see how I might combine both for one project--rather than two separate ones. Given the length of time it takes me to complete any piece--even with a week to work--it's my best bet.
And... [this is controversial] I'll begin doing some 'pre-work' on a piece or two.

At the very least [& I'm not 'organized'] I'll do a list of the things I want to accomplish during the course of the week.

Thanks Daniel and Sandy, this helps me alot, I really want to do the gotic arch and the stencil and vintage ones, but I am really challenged as how to go about it,have never done this kind of art,not sure how to go about it,such as,do I just draw an arch, then cut it out,I have been cutting out some vintage images from a book I bought,I do have some brass stencils, will try to do the double up thing too, thanks for the ideas, one would think I have never done any stamping before, geeesh,I am so simple minded.

Judy-After playing in a few of these marathon events I learned to do exactly as you have started. That is prioritizing what really sounds fun to me. And now that we have a whole week I do think about spreading out the fun. I also mentally make a game plan to limit myself-when I am going to stop and move on so I don't become totally absorbed in just one or 2 new experiences.

When I am trying a new stamping technique I do a lot of preliminary web searching to look at examples--of course the gallery here is the first place as well as the message board that might lead to some blogs as well as goggling.
(note: Hero Arts has a terrific 'learning center' on their site which includes some gothic arches)

Another thing I do to get ready for the challenges is to make separate stacks of supplies/stamps that I think of using for a specific swap. Otherwise when the time comes I find myself scratching my head saying "now what was that...that I thought would be 'perfect' for this challenge.

Like planning for a great trip a lot of fun can go into getting ready ...Jan

Great tips for all of us, Jan! Thank you!

And... Knowing how long it takes me to create a piece [even with a whole week], I do some pre-making for those challenges that attract me.

I do just enough to get myself started, but wait for the opening gun [& the guidelines] to finish my piece.

Heh Daniel...we'll have to think up some last minute tweaks to see if we can shake ya! lol!

Judy the big thing is---don't stress! Participate in what you can during that week. Prioritize the ones you want to do "alongside" others, so if you need help while you're working, other people are online at the same time. But you can always continue past the week to do the other challenges too!

judithann that's great! remember, all the challenges stay open for RAKs for the week, but you can always go back to any challenge or class from a previous event and play along ANYtime!
