This is weird... last week I got a copy of "Family Fun" magazine. The label on it said my subscription will last through 2009. I never ordered it, so I was like "OK?!" Then today I got a copy of US magazine, which I never ordered either! (I do like it though, so I am pretty excited! Ha!) Has this ever happened to anyone else? Weird...

Yes. Out of the blue, I started receiving Rolling Stone. I haven't read Rolling Stone since high school!! On the label it said my subscription expired in a year.

I never received a bill or a gift card saying someone ordered it for me.

So, I called Rolling Stone.

To my surprise, when I had ordered tickets to a Dave Matthews Band concert, a year of Rolling Stone was included. Who knew?

I would suggest calling or emailing their subscriptions dept - they can tell you who ordered it for you.

Yep. We get a Golfers magazine. Neither one of us Golf but for some reason we get this magazine. We got it for a year and they sent me a bill for the next year. We didn't renew and started getting it again.

I don't know why...I give it to a guy at the office who golfs and loves it. We have been getting it on and off for about 2 years now.

Sure have. TV Guide, Blender, and SPIN all started showing up on their own. No clue why, lol. None of them are anything that I'd have paid for, but hey...for free, I'll read 'em.

we bought something from best buy years and years ago and thats when they offered 3 months free of a particular magazine. so we said sure (I'm really good about not letting things renew themselves because we like "free" ). Anyways, 3 months past and we kept getting rolling stone and so I called again to cancel and the guy said they didn't have us in the system nor our address. That was 2 years ago!!! LOL I want to stop getting the darn mag but they can't cancel me because according to them they don't deliver to us. LOL

No really, Sweet Pete is my nickname.

I started getting Cooking Light out of the blue. It wasn't exactly my name on the label, but close. I called and the woman said it was a subscription that had been "transferred" to my address.

I started getting the Mother Earth News. I love it one of my favorites I'll have to call and find out who sent it. I suspect it was a gift because several people know I enjoy it.

I think mine originated with catalogue orders from JC Penney.

Then I received a postcard (after I'd received the magazines for over a year) telling me that if I did not call this number, I'd continue to receive the magazines for a fee.

I called the number, and the automated system/script to cancel was really tricky. Made to deceive. Something like, "I'm sorry you do not wish to continue to receive Lady's Home Journal. Would you would like to cancel your current subscription, but continue to receive LHJ and be billed in 90 days?" It was deliberately deceptive, because YES I want to cancel, but NO I don't want to be billed... I answered NO, and got another deceptively worded question.

I'm still not sure if I answered correctly.

This is weird... last week I got a copy of "Family Fun" magazine.
Holy cow, me too! And it's sent to this weird badly spelled version of two of my children's names. Bizarre.

We started getting Field & Stream, DH was talking to FIL & BIL and they both started getting it about the same time we did, BIL called and found out that we were getting it because we made reservations for a federal RV campground at a lake.

We also started getting TV guide and have no clue why, we have gotten it for quite some time!

I keep getting Blender and I'm pretty sure I've only paid for a subscription once, about 6 years ago or whatever it was when the magazine first started. I only paid for two years, yet I'm still getting it and my current subscription is renewed until next year, I believe.

I will admit, though, that when I was young and stupid, my friends and I used to go to the library and get a bunch of subscription cards out of dumb magazines and fill out the information for people we didn't like, using the phone book for information.

I don't know if people ever got the subscriptions. I'm guessing probably, but we never heard about classmates complaining about it.

Did you have a Disney Adventures subscription? Because that was cancelled in November, and they subbed out Family Fun. But that may be only if you bought a Girl Scout magazine voucher.

Nope, we never got this magazine... I don't think any of the others I subscribe to have stopped publishing either... Hmm...

I get a Photography magazine that we got as a bonus for something - I can't remember what it was that gave us the bonus (software, I think) and I actually find the magazine quite boring.

I started receiving Ebony a couple months ago. I didn't order it and didn't think anything of it until I got a bill and then I wrote to them and told them I didn't order it and wasn't going to pay for it.

My husband used to always get "Men's" Mags. FHM, Maxim, and Stuff. I HATE THEM. We would get a card saying Thanks for Serving. They would send it to him because he was in the Military. I stopped that. Flame away, but I don't like them!
I wish I got Family Fun Free, but I get my MIL old ones. She got 3 free subscriptions to magazines of her choice for donating blood. Nice.

That's my island!

We started getting Field & Stream, DH was talking to FIL & BIL and they both started getting it about the same time we did, BIL called and found out that we were getting it because we made reservations for a federal RV campground at a lake.

The exact same thing happened to us. We started getting not only Field & Stream, but also Outdoor and Backpacker. I hadn't ordered any of them. I contacted customer service for one of them and they told me that it was a "complimentary" subscription for making camping reservations at a Corps of Engineers lake. I think the year is almost up. I better not see a bill because I didn't need or want these magazines. What a waste. They went straight to the recycle bin. If they had given us say Trailer Life, I might have been interested enough to look at one and actually pay for a subscription.

YES! This is an interesting story...

When I was in high school, I had a stalker. Except he was a long-distance stalker because he lived in another state. So maybe it doesn't qualify, but trust me, some of the things he'd do were freaky. Anyway, one day I got a magazine in the mail that I hadn't subscribed to, and then another one the next day... a few more the next day... within a week or two I had 14 magazine subscriptions!!! And then the BILLS came. My parents were not pleased. Some were fun, like People and Sports Illustrated, but it was also Architectural Digest and Golf - things a 15 year old could care less about. We contacted the magazine companies who sent us copies of the cards that had been sent in, and all were written in his handwriting and postmarked with his city/state. We explained the situation to ALL of the magazines and all were cancelled and I owed nothing.

What a hassle.

I started recieving Harpers Bazaar magazine out of the blue. I am not a high fashion magazine kind of girl. It looks like I have a full year subscription too. Did not buy it and no one I know would think to buy it as a gift.

Weird, but I do thumb through it then recycle it away.

Yes! For a waiting room. My fil used to have a store and when he died we had his mail sent to us. Ever since we have gotten magazines delivered here- that was 13 years ago! The bad part is most of the magazines are not anything we would read and several of them are men's magazines that come in plastic envelopes. I have written and asked to have those stopped, but eventually they start up again. I always wonder what kind of a store they think we have! Im sure our mail lady also wonders! Most of the waiting room subscriptions last just a few months and then change to a different one so we never know what will arrive in mail!
