Hi inchie girls!
I have a question... When I did some inchies a while a go, I cut them with my paper cutter...seemed awkward...

Are you using anything special? Meaning, do you have a 1" punch or nestabilities?

What are your favorite ways to cut them????

TIA!

I have a question that is somewhat related...

When making an inchie, do you cut/punch out the 1" square first, then create the inchie design?

Or do you create the design on a larger sheet, then cut/punch it out?

I'm not great with paper-cutters, so I mostly cut with a blade. I use a gridded pad & clear straight-edge.

Works for everything from inchies to whatevers...

My 2nd fav cutter is micro-tip scissors.

I have a cutterpedade, and I just cut 1 inch strips and then I cut the 1 inch squares. I don't have a punch, so that was the easiest way for me.

ETA: WOW! I think we all typed at the same time! TO answer your question, Chris, I cut my inchies first and then created on them. I found that was easier. I guess you could create first and then cut- I've not tried it.

The inchies I did required me to create the background first and then cut, but it did occur to me that it would have been a whole lot easier with a 1 inch square punch. That being said, I looked at several stores and could not find one that size. I'm sure they figure people will just cut them out with a trimmer...

I found a 1" punch! Makes my inchie life so much easier!

When making an inchie, do you cut/punch out the 1" square first, then create the inchie design?

Or do you create the design on a larger sheet, then cut/punch it out?

I do it both ways; it depends on what effect I'm trying to create.

Great question! I was wondering the same thing and in the end figured it depended on what effect I was going for with my inchies. In the end, I purchased a 1" square punch and used that.

Without meaning to get 'off topic', I sometimes create a large piece & 'find' the inchies using a template.

Kinda like finding the mini-pix in a biggun like the Sistine Chapel.

Since inchies are 'no rules', it's another approach.

I always punch my squares first. A one inch punch is a really good thing!!!
Then I look at them for a long time shaking in my head in disbelief that this is the size I have to work with After that it all comes together.

As I don't have a 1 inch punch (I've got a 1 and 1/2 inch punch) I use my paper trimmer to cut 1 inch strips and then I cut the strips into squares. All of the inches I've done so far, I've cut first. Then I stick them on the sticky part of a post-it note. It made them easier to watercolor and attach stuff to.

Ahh, a few years ago, I bought these punches from creative memories. They have 5 sizes on two punches. so, I use that..

I do cut first and stamp decorate second, UNLESS I am doing a crazy background then I'll do that (ink's etc) then cut and add my elements.

Great question!
