I recently got the 'Family' chipboard word book and have picked out the pp for it but need to know what adhesive to use, or not use. I figure I will learn from other peas mistakes about what works and what doesn't. Thanks!!!

I use a vellum spray - that way you can get coverage over the entire piece of paper, lay down the word, roll with a brayer or roller, and cut out with an exacto or craft knife.

UHU gluestick. YOu have to cover all the surface of the patterned paper that will contact the chipboard, not just the edges and it's a tight hold without buckling.

I like the cheetah. I think Zyron makes it. You get a nice wide strip of super sticky adhesive. |

UHU glue sticks. cover the chipboard completely. then put the paper down.turn it over, and use your x-acto to cut the paper from the edges.

i recommend zip dry in all the mini album classes i teach... it gives you a minute or so to mess with the placement, but when it's dry - it is ON there! no warping your papers either, it goes on nice and smooth. any excess can be quickly and easily cleaned up when it dries. just rub with your finger or a rubber eraser.

I've made several and I've found that while Fabric Tac works great-- the smell gives me a head ache so I use Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive. It's got a nice fine tip to get in the little grooves, it bonds really well & it's not expensive. You can get it at Walmart of JoAnn. I love that stuff. |

Those of you who use glue sticks, what brand do you use?
When I first started to scrapbook, I used glue sticks, and had to go back and use new adhesive after a few months, because nothing was stuck down anymore. |

just a quick comment about mod podge - my opinion of course!
i am a MESSY scrapper and i get mod podge all over! you can usually see it on the paper, so i feel compelled to add a top coat to hide those little messy bits! i know some people like to add a top coat anyway ---BUT - i've had projects warp and ripple when i modpodge them. not always, but sometimes and there is NOTHING worse than an entire project ruined by bad adhesive.
that's why i stick to zip dry - it's mess proof! LOL!

I highly recommend Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Adhesive by 3M. I don't recommend it for a board book that is 12x12 as it dries too fast, but 8x8 or smaller, it's great. So that it doesn't bubble, I use a sponge brush and quickly brush it onto the chipboard itself and then adhere the paper. It does dry quickly - usually once you lay the paper down, you aren't able to reposition it, but it has a strong hold once it dries.
Good luck! | |

BUT - i've had projects warp and ripple when i modpodge them.
The owner of my LSS told me when using Mod Podge to take a small piece of wax paper, wad it up and then rub it across the paper that you've just adhered with Mod Podge as if you're sanding it and it will make it smooth. I've been using Mod Podge a lot lately and I haven't had a problem with any rippling. As far as warping, if it's chipboard, after I Mod Podge it and it dries a little, I'll set something on top of it to keep it nice and flat while I work on something else.
