Well, I guess you could, but for me, the flavors of tomato soup and tomato sauce are noticeably different. I wouldn't only because I know I wouldn't like the taste.

I had to do that not long ago. It was a little different, but it still tasted good.

I think it depends on what else you have in your sauce. I actually prefer a can or two of Campbell's tomato soup in mine. Come to think of it, I don't think I've had tomato sauce the last few times I've made pasta sauce.

*ETA- When I make pasta sauce I make a huge crock pot to freeze and store many containers of the it. The sauce never tastes like the soup. But then again, I prefer a sweeter sauce and Campbell's tomato soup is on the sweeter side.

I still have tomato paste LOL about 8 cans of that! Go figure right? LOL I thought that with enough seasonings I might be able to get away with it.

I'd use tomato paste (diluted a bit and seasoned) before I used tomato soup. But then again, I don't like the taste of tomato soup.

Depending how much sauce you need, you could either use the tomato soup mixed with some tomato paste or dilute the tomato paste; spice both to taste.

That is the way my Grandma always made it when my Dad was growing up. So my Mom has started making it that way for him again after all of us kids grew up. It is actually pretty tasty with the seasonings in it.

I wouldn't for a traditional spaghetti sauce. If that's all you have to use could you maybe try it in a casserole type dish with the noodles. I also suggest the can of tomato paste or stewed chopped tomatoes... anything to make more like sauce than cream soup.

When I was a kid, my Dad frequently made it with tomato soup because he was often out of tomato sauce. Yes, there's a difference, but it's totally do-able. I grew up thinking that was how it was made.

Just make sure to add lots of italian spices. It's fine.

That's my favorite way!! A can of tomato soup, a can of mushroom soup, a pound of hamburger, and an onion. Brown the hamburger with the onion add the soup, and heat. Yum!

I wouldn't, but I hate canned tomato soup. I would use paste and water instead.

Yes you can! I have tried it and it is good if you add some paste and seasonings and liquid... i bet chicken broth would be good.
