I have several white inks - that I have tried in stamping snow flakes and adding snow to a brown cabin - I have tried

Stazon Cotton white
Brilliance - moonlight white
JoAnn craft Essentials

Still not getting the effect that I want

Any suggestions on other whites or how to get the most bank for my buck on one of these three.

I know that this has been mentioned before, but while making Christmas cards - I need one

Ugh, I have a love-hate relationship with white ink pads. I have to say the one that I have the most success with is the Staz-on, but even that one isn't "perfect". I also have a white ColorBox Fluid Ink pad (not sure of the actual color name) that I've been pretty happy with.

Have you tried heat-embossing? When all else fails, I've resorted to embossing my images to get a really opaque white look.

I have a Clearsnap/Colorbox "Frost White" pigment ink that does fairly well (better than the Staz-on Opaque Cotton White or Brilliance Moonlight White that I also have).

But, most of the time, I don't even bother with white ink. I use VersaMark and heat emboss with Ranger "Seafoam White" embossing powder. That's my "go to" for white.

Good luck!

I forgot to add that I was REALLY disappointed with the Brilliance white ink pad. I've never been able to get any sort of decent "coverage" with it. I guess it's OK for a distressed or shabby image, but if you're looking for something opaque, this is not the pad (at least in my experience).

I use the white in my Colorbox Queue stamp set-it is a pigment ink, but works really well!

I'm going to have to try that white embossing powder. I love the look of white stamping on dark colors, but have been less than pleased with any of the inks I've tried.

Stampin UP Whisper White ink works very well. It is a pigment ink so you may have to heat set it or use it with clear embossing powder. SU also has an off white called Very Vanilla.

Thank you very much for your responses. I also will get some seafoam white embossing power and work with that.

Again thanks to everyone. Peas are the best source of information.

Ranger's white pigment ink called Snowcap is really nice....and embossing with the seafoam ep on the snowcap is brilliant!

Second I like the staz on cotton white.

Ann, I gave up and got the White Seafoam embossing powder too! I originally got it for snowflakes and LOVE it for putting snowcaps on my mountain die cuts!

Angie - please share with me more about how you used the ep power as snow on the tops of your mountains. I want to add snow to the roof of my stamped cabin.

Did you use a stamp or what to layer on the Versamark?

Please tell, could also add snow to Snoopy's hat.

Love the snoopy's.

Ranger makes a GREAT white stamp pad...called snow cap. It's a pigment ink that really does work and it shows up very well on dark cardstock...

It's a pigment ink..but different than other pigments. It will dry on porous surfaces, but if don't have the time to wait, just use a heat tool to dry it.

My best results have been with the Stampin' Up! white....and I'm a consultant for The Angel Company.

I gotta call it as I see it...or stamp it

The best white ink pad I ever had is one from The Angel Company. Unfortunately I don't think they make it anymore. It was a dye-base white pad and when you stamped with it, it was okay, but when you heated it with a heat tool the white popped.

I really like the White Daisy pigment ink from Close To My Heart. It takes a little while to dry, but I've had the best luck with that ink.

I was going to second our CTMH pigment white daisy ink. The great coverage was one of the things that really impressed me before I joined the company 18 months ago. The CTMH stamps made me join in the fun!

For stamping the clearest white is the white embossing powder, the second best I found was the versacolor white. However for larger stamps I find that good old white acylic paint works awesome, and for writing I use a white gel pen. I did a store demo with almost all the pruducts metioned and these were my picks.

I'm still looking for a satisfactory white ink pad, and I think I've tried them all! I usually stamp with white acrylic paint when I need opaque coverage, but that limits me to using stamps without fine definition, and I'm stuck with the "paint" look, which I usually prefer, but let's face it, isn't always apropos to the work at hand.

Thanks for the tip on Ranger's Snow Cap white ink pad and Seafoam White embossing powder. I plan to get both and try them out! Hope this is the solution!!

I don't use white ink very often, Ann, but I "feel your pain". Like Barbara, I prefer using paint when stamping white. But even that can be a problem if it's not truly opaque.

Depending on the 'look' you're searching for you might try this 'painter's trick'. Stamp first with a very dark ink--navy or black; then stamp with the white over the dark image.

Yes. This does require some precision, but "Art ain't always easy".

FWIW? The reason for 'understamping' is twofold:
1. It blocks out the color being worked on [in your case, brown]
2. White is 'brighter' on a dark color.

HTH, Ann. I know you'll figure out how to get the effect you're seeking!
