I love the Pulse. I listen to it as a compromise with dd, since I'm not a hip hop person. It's a very good station.
This whole merger sucks though. You guys are losing stations and we're not getting anything out of the deal.

I wondered why some of my channels have different names today! Duh! Now I know! I do like The Pulse too. I'm not sure what kind of music Flight 26 was, but The Pulse is 90's and today without the hip hop. |

that's weird cause I swear I was listening to it this morning. I need to run out to my car and check what station I have it on.
Either way I'm okay with the replacement - I have Sirus at home and that's one of the channels we listen to alot of the time. |

I'm sorry, but what they played on Fred, Ethel and Lucy is NOT comparable to the Sirius channel. Whereas I heard deeper tracks on Fred, this morning on the "Fred Imposter", I heard "Heart of Glass" and "Everyone Wang Chung Tonight." They fired all of XM's dj's and PD's and now we just have Sirius's generic voice over people, who are just edited in between songs to make you think there is a DJ.
Sorry, but DH and I are DONE with XM as soon as football season is over. And what's sad, is as little as 6 months ago, we were their biggest fans. (And with four radios, that's quite a bit.)

So, I wasn't the only one who listened to that? My family tried to convince me I was!
In addition to Flight 26, I listened to Chrome and the 70's station and so far I'm not liking the Sirius 70's. The DJ sounds like he's trying to hard to be an AM radio DJ and they've played songs I've never heard before.

We have xm in one car and sirius in the other. Today I was driving the xm car and noticed flight 26 was gone. That was my favorite channel on both systems. I don't understand why xm is changing and gaining the sirius channels but the sirius isn't changing or gaining xm channels. When dh inquired about getting some channels from xm they said it would cost $4 extra each month. Something isn't right in that.

I didn't care for The Pulse when I had Sirius. I let the 6 months free subscription run out. $12.95 isn't a lot to spend, but I just couldn't justify it. My BIL has XM and listens to Flight 26 all the time. I'm sure he's miffed. |

So why are the in the car stations not matching what's online? Ugh. They had a cool holiday station in the car but not online. DS is upset about the DJ part because he loved loved XM kid channel, not disny but the xm kids. The DJ's were great!!! I also noticed that they took away my spanish stations and put "world" music under Latin/World. Not all Latin American's love Salsa and that's it. And I just renewed on the 8th for another year. Talk about bad timing on my part. |

December is our last month as an XM subscriber. I told DH I'm not happy. They got rid of several stations he likes and the only reason I have it is for the hockey. Not worth what we pay just for that. We have music channels on the tv and we both have ipods. That way, I can listen to the music I want.
My parents have Sirius (came in their new cars) and they let the free year lapse. They hated it too.

Actually, that's not exactly what happened. Both services' subscribers saw a change in their channel lineups this morning. They seemed to have taken the "best" of both and combined them to have one set of "basic" channels. ("Best" isn't necessarily my description, but you know what I mean.) The decades channels are now what was on XM (80s on 8 instead of the Big 80s, etc.), which is actually nice - XM always did a better job with those. They did it to get rid of what was perceived as duplication in the channel lineups.
The $4 extra for the "Best Of" packages were for the premium channels offered by each service before the merger. So for example, I think Howard Stern is now package that XM subscribers can get, and Sirius folks can get a package that includes Oprah. Those channels aren't included in the basic lineup that you get for your $12.95 subscription.
As far as presets getting all screwed up, most of that has to do with the generation of receiver that you have. The newer receivers (probably from the last year or so) should have updated automatically to keep your favorite channels, just changing the channel number. On older receivers, though, it probably kept the channel number, even if the station changed.
(Now that DH is no longer working for Sirius, I guess I should stop sounding like an insider... LOL!)

I agree, Sam. I was never a big fan of Sirius' decades channels, but actually really liked the ones on XM. They seemed to have more variety and played more things that you don't hear too often. Which, let's face it, is why most people listen to satellite radio in the first place!

When I was growing up, Carol Miller was my most favorite DJ EVER on WNEW in New York. I felt like I was 15 years old listening to her tonight. |

And I'm sorry Peas Well, but XM customers were led to believe this was a MERGER between two companies, not a Sirius TAKEOVER. They have lied about this from the start, and as an XM customer, I am P'O'd. |

Yeah, I was NOT happy yesterday when I got in the car and all of my stations had new names (and craptacular music).
I used to have the Hitlist too (XM30) and now it's Pop2K and not nearly as good.
And they changed the country station Highway 16 to something else too but I didn't listen to it enough yesterday to judge the change.
I'm frustrated with the whole Fred-Ethel-Lucy loss...and Boneyard is now Hair Nation or something...
I'm just glad all my talk stations are still there, and the comedy stations (even though 150's now Raw Dog...whatever the heck that is).
Boo merger. |

Okay Lucy fans, I think 1st Wave is probably the closest although it seems to be mostly 80's early 90's new wave without any of the newer stuff Lucy played. I tried it out this morning and it was tolerable.
Still royally ticked about the Flight 26 replacement, it's not close enough. |
