Is this real? It looks fake to me. I thought tatoo's aren't that "clean" just after getting them. But if it is..... Hey though. She loves cameras. That's her thing and her body. .... So more power to her. Rock on and all that.
Now I think the one her friend got was cool. It's the coolest sewing machine I've ever seen.
Thoughts? |

I don't "get" tattoos. Seriously. It's not that I think people shouldn't get them, because I could care less. But, for me, I just look at them and can't help but think how awful that thing is going to look when she's 85 and wrinkly. It won't look beautiful then, I don't care how pretty it might be now.

While I would never put that large or visible of a tat on myself, I can appreciate the art. I think they are lovely tats and I love that they chose things that are truly near and dear to their hearts. Who is the famous person? |

I did see an older lady once (in her 70's?) and she had the smallest little heart tatoo on her collar/shoulder area. I told her I loved it and she was like, "Ya. I was quite the hell-raiser back then." And she winked at me. |

I just can't find the one thing "I" like enough to put on my bod permantely. Although I am really loving that black/red banner look below the sewing machine. Just not sure what words I would put on it.
I wouldn't put a sewing machine as I don't sew. |

Looks real to me. Right after they are done they are clean. The area doesn't get scabby until a day or so later.
Not my taste but the tat artist did a good job.

My only question is, that camera looks like a Polaroid -- she's immortalizing a dead or dying technology!
Now, a digi Rebel (with or without the kit lens!) ... *that* would rock. |

I think I would be ok w/needles? I don't know. But do tatoos really ever look good on pasty white chubby hicks like me? I think if I got one, I would get one w/that banner style above and then just put my son's names on it. Hunter & Hayden.. er something like that.
And then there's the whole idea of where to place it. I like the idea of my shoulder (back)...

I think the least painful is the outside of the arm. Some padding makes it hurt, such as your stomach. It all hurts but you live through it. |

Oh, well.. if she likes it, good for her!
(BTW, I once arrested a girl and when I got to the "do you have any scars, marks or tattoos" question while booking her, she told me that she had cat eyes - get it? - above her hoo-ha, just below the bikini line. Then she proceeded to show me the proof. Uh - TMI, girlfriend!) |

I think they are COOL but way too trendy to be imortiziled on me for all eternity! I would definetly frame either tat art in the ol' scrapbook room but not ink it to my flesh.
I do have a tiny heart that I got when I was 21. It is on the lower section under the belly button. I was 115 lbs. then and hip huggers were in style. I enjoyed showing it off. BUT now, it is 14 years, 3 kids later- faded and I am a chub! NO ONE but the kiddies and hub sees it! What was I thinking! |

Yeah, I knew this thread would be about Elsie. I like Rachel's tattoo too (the sewing machine)! Super cool. The polaroid is growing on me... and I don't think of it as a "dying" art. Elsie loves polaroids and even makes fake ones using her home printer.
I think polaroids will always be neat for their "instant" technology. Even in this day and age of digital cameras, you still can't have immediate pix.
The day my sister and BIL adopted my niece last summer, there were a bunch of other families doing adoptions too. My sister had her polaroid and was taking pix of her girls in the hall at the court house. We had many digi cams in attendance, but the cool thing with the polaroid was being able to hand the pictures out immediately. She even took a couple of the new family sitting across from them. (No one in their party had thought to bring a camera at all.)
Polaroids rock!
Now the tattoo isn't my taste, and way bigger than I'd ever get, but if she likes it, then cool! Rock on with your bad self!

Elsie is the famous scrapbooker with the polaroid tattoo in the OP.
Her friend Rachel has the sewing machine tattoo in the OP.
Generally speaking, I don't keep up on the lives of famous scrapbookers, but I love Elsie, and I'm currently taking her online classes, so I'm up on the whole tattoo thing.

I love them both. I'm a fan of good tattoos.
Same here! I don't have any but my husband has nine.
His latest was done at a tattoo convention just outside of Rome on our honeymoon. He spent two months emailing with the designer about the design.
I don't get people who walk into a shop and just pick a design off the wall or out of the book. I think it's important to be comfortable with the artist and have a good idea of what you want.
I think Elsie and Rachel did good! I saw their tattoos the other day on her blog and thought they were perfectly fitting and done by a talented artist.
My only question is, that camera looks like a Polaroid -- she's immortalizing a dead or dying technology!
Now, a digi Rebel (with or without the kit lens!) ... *that* would rock.
The Polaroid is considered a classic by many. A lot of people are not happy about it's demise. I would imagine she went with that design fully knowing this. If I were going to get a camera tat I'd definitely go the vintage route. A Digi Rebel seems sort of douchey to me. |

I saw that on Elsie's blog when she posted about it.
I like the designs, but I think the placement of hers (inner arm) is a little strange.
I think the vintage Polaroid route is a good way to go.
I wish I could find something I liked enough to put on my body permanently. |

Those are some really well done tattoos!
