I caught that one of the Duggar girls is wearing a plain gold band on ~that~ finger. Now with any other family I would think it was just a ring, but knowing how they are, it makes me wonder if it is more than ~just~ a ring.

Anyone know?
ETA: THANKS to those that posted it was a promise ring from her dad. But more answers about my next question are appreciated.

Also, what are the glass items that Jim Bob is commenting on during their trip to NY? I can't get a good view when I pause the show and I've actually watched the commercial twice now (I hate commercials) trying to see what it is.

I think she wears that ring as a promise to remain pure until her wedding night-she will take it off during her weddign ceremony and replace it with her wedding ring.

I think the ring is a promise ring.
The glass items looked like pipes to me. For um, smoking tobacco.

The Jonas brothers wear those rings too.

I had never heard of such an thing until there was an article in the paper saying some teen boys and girls are wearing the rings. Interesting.

The family was on the View last week. They said their oldest son was getting married (or just got married?) and that he had never been kissed. So, I guess he wore a ring as well.

I must admit that came to mind for me too, but he indicated they were glass and while I am certainly no expert on the variety of materials that can be used, I know I'd never use anything glass in and around there.

Hahahahaha.

DH and I are having an ongoing debate about what those things were. I immediately thought "dildos!" (hahaha) and DH immediately thought "bongs!"

I told him about this thread, and so the debate continues ... (I told him the Peas were evenly split.)

And he now wants me to post that he's RIGHT about this issue because he's "MY AUTHORITY." (BIG HAHAHAHAAHAHA on that one.) When we were discussing Anna's father's comments earlier, and I said, "Um, in regards to YOU being the 'authority' around here ... uh, that ship has already sailed."

I think it's great that the Duggars want to keep vows of purity. But, MAN, it skeeved me out when Jim Bob announced it all during the ceremony. As I said to DH: Where in the Bible does it say that the entire universe needs to know the details of your sex life?

After reading this thread I watched closely to see what they were and there were the hand blown glass pipes with the cool colors.

I'm pretty sure the Duggars did a head shop... lol Which is wrong in so many ways...

The glass things were pipes. You know, the kind that are "for decorative use only". I LOL'ed at JB saying, "That's some interesting glassware", or whatever it was he said.

And glass is a VERY popular item for those items...

That had me laughing, too. Caught my ear and then I had to rewind several times.

I am going to say pipes after having watched in again today. Can't wait for the show to see what they truly are.
