In August 2007 I shared my scrapbook room with you here on two peas before we sold our home.

Old Scrapbook Room

Since then I moved to Georgia and then back to California...with all of my stuff. My main work area now is a loft over the living/dining room and I'm really happy here. Thought I would share a bit of how I've set it up. I also have other things in the 2nd bedroom (that wouldn't fit in the loft)...like the Ikea Expedit shelving with paper and another Ikea work table, etc. (and, for some reason, on my computer I can only see the pictures when I switch to the non-flash version...so, if you don't see pictures, try that).

Loft Pictures

And, since this is the month of LOVE...I just need to mention how wonderful my husband is. When he was looking at places for us to live, his main concern was that I had a place to scrapbook. So he was the one who found this place to give me lots of room for all of my stuff. When he saw the loft, he knew it would be perfect. I could be up here and still be close to him if he was below in the living room watching TV and then I would still have the 2nd bedroom for storage. Watta guy!

Wow!!! How beautiful! My "scrapbook nook" is nothing compared to that! I can't wait till I move out on my own this summer and finally have my own space!!! However I still have a while before I can achieve something as beautiful as your loft!! But its always good to have something to look forward to right! Enjoy!!

Looks great! I do have a question about your project table: can you fit a 12x12 album in those cubby holes? I can't find dimensions for them on the PB website. Thanks!

My scrapbook/stampin' studio is in our loft as well. I wasn't sure when we first moved if I wanted to be in an open area that I couldn't shut the door on when things got messy. But, I love it -- for many of the same reasons you mention. Even when I'm up here scrappin' and hubby is downstairs watching tv, we're still able to talk back and forth and I can see what's going on on the tv. Your space is beautiful, nice job!

I loved your old scrap room and your new one is just fabulous. I'm hoping to one day remodel this ancient house and do my room in the same colors you've done! I moved 3 times in 2 years so I know how you feel!! Kudos for getting your scrap space together so neatly!!

It's a really fabulous space! I have put both of your rooms in my BOS since I also have a black/white/khaki theme going on in my room

Also, we have moved a lot, too. I think we're finally settled in this house and I'm sooooo thankful. The good thing about all the moving is it requires you to purge your stuff and find new storage solutions for your stuff, right?!

One question: Did you spray paint that MM tool caddy on your PB table black? What kind of paint did you use? It looks great! I want to do that to mine, too!

Travelnut-
In response to your questiion...No, albums won't fit. The cubbies are 11-3/4" deep x 11 tall x 11 wide. They are the perfect size for magazines. I have one side full of my Martha Stewart collection of magazines (I have every issue since she started publishing in 1990. Then the side that's in the picture has some more magazines (Martha's and scrapbooking) and then some bins with acrylic stamps and chipboard/grungeboard.

I have the pottery barn project table. It was very easy to drill some small holes and adjust the shelves. I was able to get two rows of 12x12 albums and then the top row was just big enough to place a cardboard photo storage box or baskets

I am in the process now of moving from the front of the house open office space to the lager bedroom upstairs (daughter left for college!)I think organizing the stuff is half the fun!

bberryphoto-
The calendar is from Jenni Bowlin. They are the 2009 Die-Cut Calendar Cards.

They sell them here on 2 Peas Calendar Cards

So, what I've done is clipped the calendar card into a frame holder from Pottery Barn. They were with the Christmas ornaments this past year and then I am just holding that with an acrylic paperclip also from Pottery Barn. I didn't put much thought into it when I did it in January, but I kind of liked having it right there on my desk, so then I just switched it out Feb. 1 with a new card for February. Looks like I don't need to buy a calendar!

Alissa103-
This is not the MM tool caddy. This is one of three I bought at TJ Maxx Homegoods. I have one black and two white. I used to have the three across my desk, but I'm trying just the two for now because I find it handier to have that extra space for the cutter.

I also have the MM tool caddy that I bought before these. But I really like these ones from TJ Maxx. The black matches the Pottery Barn desk perfectly. I bought them for $40 each about 1-1/2 years ago. But these things seems to pop up randomly in their office section.

That's a great idea. I hadn't thought of that. It would probably be good fro the postbound albums, but I've recently changed a lot of my albums to the 3 ring binder type that are 15" long and I think it would bug me too much if they stuck out that extra 3-1/4". I find that they fit perfectly in my IKEA Expedit. But it's a great idea to drill new holes if you want to store the albums there.

The desk is from Ikea. It is Vika Gruvan/Vika Artur. This is the combination (separate base and top) I chose it for two reasons: 1) Adjustable height so I can still use my counter stool to sit higher up at the desk. 2) Shadow box effect with the glass raised so that things can be put underneath.

The cool thing about this loft is that unless someone climbs the stairs, they would never see what is going on...you know how the paper and embellishments fly in the middle of a project! So, in a way the "door is always shut" because anyone walking in and around can't see up there. Although, I try to keep it in order or I'd go crazy tripping over things.

I took lots of pictures at Christmas because I was working on the 25 Days Album by Ali Edwards, so I thought maybe you'd like to see a few more pics of the place and have a better idea of the layout and where the loft is.

Here's a picture from my 25 days album that shows the living space that the loft looks down on. And, you can see the stairs leading up to the loft.

And a daytime shot. The loft is up and to the right.

Looking out from the loft.

And a picture I love of my feline boys playing on the stairs. They love to run up and down and sleep on the stairs. This is Spencer poking his head through while playing with Quinn who is looking up at him. So glad to have captured this shot because it happened in an instant and I've never seen him poke his head through again.

WOW! Both your old and new spaces are amazing! I love the way you stored everything. That huge clock is an eye catcher! In all the scap rooms I've seen on different MBs I have to say, I've never seen anyone else that has as much stuff as I do! I wish my room looked as good as yours but it's still a work in progress, maybe someday......

Do you mind telling me about the black piece sitting under the "family" plaque and your initial frame beside it on top of the white shelving unit below the clock (BTW, you were so sweet to tell me about that clock when you posted your 1st room. I was able to locate it and have enjoyed it.) I, too, have a black/white theme in my room.

That black piece under "family" is actually an advent calendar from Target. I think I bought it in 2006 because I remember buying a mirrored one from there in 2007. The mirrored one definitely looks like Christmas, but I like to leave the black and white one up all year just for decoaration.

The frame is just something I picked up from TJ Maxx and stuck an itial on the front of it (not even under the glass). I really didn't even intend on keeping it that way, but it has stuck!
