They can in KS, but I guess it's a no-no in Oklahoma.

I can take my kids (ages 14, 11 and 8) but older kids (19-20) aren't allowed. Higher risk I guess.

Actually, yes they can go into the store with the parent. We'd be flogged if we left the little stinkers in the car.

Yes, they can here in WA. In CA liquor is also sold in the grocery stores (even the hard stuff), so obviously kids can go in with their parents there. I don't know about "traditional" liquor stores in CA...we just always bought our booze at the grocery store.

If I don't take her in, how is she supposed to pick out what she wants?

Actually, I make it a point not to take DD in the ABC store. First, I would have to tell her why it's called the ABC store, and the questions would just go on from there.

This is why mommy drinks.

We can here in Colorado.

My kids have been three times. Twice with me (beer), once with a friend of mine who had to pick up wine to make a dish for dinner.

FL is a no.

Lord have mercy do people freakin' flip out over it too. I worked in a call center for a FL wine and spirits merchant for 7 years and people from other states and other counters called to b*tch about being denied the sale because of a kid. If the clerks can see a kid in the car they aren't supposed to sell to them either. And there's a sign on every door at eye level that states they will not sell to you in the presence of a minor.

We (well, they - since I don't work there anymore LOL) also send letters toe the registered owners of vehicles driven by minors who come in and try to buy.

Actually, I make it a point not to take DD in the ABC store. First, I would have to tell her why it's called the ABC store, and the questions would just go on from there.

In FL the co I worked for was ABC - but not the same ABC. In FL liquor isn't controlled by the gov. The founder knew the yankees would know "ABC" and would go there instead of the random named mom n pop liquor places. Worked...it's "America's Oldest & Largest Wine & Spirits Merchant" LOL Some of the stores are like 30k sq feet...converted from closed home improvement stores! HUGE

And in TN, the kids brew their own......

Yes, they allow it here because they'd rather have that than leaving them in the car to cook.

Yes, in Maryland they may go in but may NOT carry any beer, wine or liquor containers. I found out when I gave my then 14 yr old a bottle of wine while I grabbed a 18-pack of Coors out of a cooler.

Is this a trick question? I never thought they couldn't.

When I was a kid, my brother and I used to ride our bikes to the liquor store to buy candy and it was just us two, no parents.

I had no idea about WA. I used to pick up our liquor order way back when I worked in a restaurant.

Other family lives in Alaska and I don't even know if they have liquor stores there, but I know you can take your kids to the bar.

Dh and I rarely go to liquor stores anymore

We dont have separate "liquor" stores here. We have party stores where you can buy beer, liquor, food, etc. You can also buy liquor at some grocery stores. Where dh's family is in TN, they buy beer at the grocery store, but they do have to go to a separate liquor store for the other stuff. Not sure if kids can go in or not...

Great question, because I have been wanting to get some wine but I always have my 4 yr old son with me and I think he should not come in to the liquor store with me and I am too darn lazy to go back to the store in the evening when he is in bed....Anyone know if it is allowed in B.C.?

Last year the laws changed no one under 21 can be in a liquor store or a bar other than those that serve food (but they can't have smoking if the kids are allowed).

I have no idea. I go to the liquor store when my kids are at school. Or I leave them out in the vehicle (don't freak -- they are all teenagers).

I was buying beer at Super Wal-Mart one day and had my kids with me. The cashier told me that she's not actually supposed to sell alcohol to adults if they have kids with them, but she sold it to me anyway. If she hadn't I would have just sent them out to the vehicle with our groceries and I would have gone to a different line to pay for the beer.

I don't actually know about liquor stores, but here in IL, I have bought it many, many times with my kids with me(all ages, young to teenage). I have also bought it in IN many times with my kids with me, but not in actual liquor stores, only Sams Club there.

I'm not sure about these days but some of my earliest memories are going into the muni with dad when I could barely see over the counter. I think they had suckers, those ones with the loop handle, for the little kids. Back then they closed when there was a fire. The firemen ran the liquor store.

If you can't bring little kids in then how does an adult with kids in the car buy beer? You can't leave them in the car unattended.

They can in GA... I had to drive to the next town to buy some rum for a recipe... and they went in with me with no problem.

In my town we have no liquor stores:

The City allows Retail Package Licensees (for off-premises consumption) to sell alcoholic beverages (beer and wine only) between the hours of 7:00 a.m to 12:00 midnight (Monday through Saturday) and Retail Consumption Licensees (for on-premises consumption) to serve and sell alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, and distilled spirits) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight (Monday through Saturday). The City DOES NOT permit the serving or sale of any alcoholic beverages on SUNDAY. The Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance DOES NOT permit retail package sales of distilled spirits (Liquor Stores).

Funny, never thought about it...but yes you can here, I know friends that do.

The small town I am grew up in (in AR) there's a joke that that there are an equal number of churches and liquor stores, and it's about right! And about every one of them (the liquor stores) has a drive thru window. So people could honestly say that they had never stepped foot in a liquor store, because they could just drive up! LOL

None of the grocery stores sell liquor here. I am in a dry county (no liquor stores, however we do have some restaurants with private licenses) and my county is sandwiched between 2 wet counties, so only a 30 min drive either way on the interstate to get a drink if you so choose.

Not really sure why it matters, but I would be more prone to buy liquor with my daughter with me if it were in a regular grocery store, but I don't take her with me if I choose to take a trip to the liquor store, just doesn't feel right.

I always went in with my parents (in PA), at all ages of my childhood, and it was never an issue.

DS is only 5, right now, but so far it hasn't been an issue for him to go in with me.

There is definitely nothing posted at our State Store saying that minors cannot go into the store with a parent.

I have no idea really...it says no one under 21 allowed, so I'm guessing not. There's even a sign like that in a liquor aisle in a store I was in recently.

I think it should be okay though, better than leaving them in the car like my dad did......

I live in PA and I've taken my dds into a liquor store several times. I've never been refused a purchase because of their presence and no one has told me not to bring them in.

I felt really awkward once when I went to a beer distributor to get a case of beer. My dd was an infant in her carrier and I had a nice employee carry my beer to the van for me. He must have thought I was a total alcoholic dragging my poor baby there for beer! In reality, I make a lot of beer bread. I felt like I had to explain myself, but I'm sure he couldn't have cared less.

i think the liquor store near our hugh school does a better business with the kids buying gum, snacks soft drinks and such than they do selling alcohol. the kids all go there before, during and after school to buy stuff.
the owners even expanded and added donut shop/deli next door to get even more kids stopping there
