That is just about the rudest response anyone could have ever made. I understand being a fan and being loyal, but what a bitchy and crappy thing to say to someone.

Good luck with your surgery on Tuesday! I will be thinking of you.

That is just wrong. I have always liked DD (from what little I know of her) and it surprises me that she would not make an exception in your case. I hope once she actually gets wind of it, she will do the right thing. I can't imagine why it would matter to them if it was you or somebody else as long as they got their money.

As for the bitch on the message board, it pisses me off that nice people like you and me are fighting this horrible disease and someone so filled with shit would say something like that.

I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this so close to your surgery. I know what a stressful time it is. I was just there myself. You need to be in a calm, healing place right now. Not dealing with crap like this.

(((hugs)))

So sorry you are going through this. I hope your surgery goes well.

I hope in no way shape or form the replier of that post is connected with Donna Downey. I hoep she is not responding for the whole of the organization.

the power of the peas will create some sort of resolution, I am sure of it. I'll bet DD, or kandie or whomever... had NO idea you were a PEA.

We got your back, girl. This is just so wrong.

I am stunned by that one poster's comment about eye cancer. Just stunned. I have to say that if THAT is the type of person who attends these events, I never want to go to one.

Kandi is the "go-to" organizer person this year; and she's buried with last minute prep. It really sounds like you got the standard operating procedure's answer.

I do not find that an acceptable excuse for their behavior. Part of my job is as the event planner for several events with 1000+ attendees, plus numerous smaller events. Every person who registers and who has a problem is guaranteed to talk to me personally and I personally resolve their problem.

My last minute prep is no one's problem but my own. It is certainly not the problem of someone preparing for cancer surgery or any other life-altering situation. Being an event planner does not negate the need to be a decent human being.

Last year, on my way out the door to an event, I had my assistant race out to the car to get me because an attendee's husband had had a stroke and she couldn't come and in her agony was fixating on getting a refund.Normally, there would be no refunds issued at that time -- and that is written policy. I had been leaving early because I know that there are always some problems and that day, this was the problem. So I went back in and took five minutes to issue her a refund and give her that small bit of comfort. That is what you do when you want to do the right thing AND get a reputation for stellar customer service. It took all of five minutes to accomplish that. If you don't have five minutes, find five minutes to act like a decent human being.

I sent an e-mail. This is so wrong on so many levels.

Peace - I hope and pray you get through your treatments with ease and receive a clean bill of health.

The whole refund policy is ridiculous. She can cancel if she is sick or the weather is bad, but won't refund. I've never heard of anything so off the wall.

i agree, i changed the word resentment to "the bottom of this" in the second set of responses.

i just got wind of all of this and even though it hurts to hear such mean things said about yourself i read everyone of them.

i have left a message for sharon and really do hope to resolve this in a way that doesn't inflict anymore pain.

sharon, i do want you to know that i do not take any of this lightly and what your going through is something i cannot fathom.

Just got an answer from D looks like mine is the same as all the others above. Sorry. Guess she just cut and pasted it in to everyone or whatever.

"looks like if you step away from the internet for a few days all hell breaks loose.
thank you for bringing this to my attention. the yahoo group is not affiliated with me at all and i hadn't been by to check what was going on in a few days.
i have corresponded via email with sharon and she never communicated these feelings.
i have called and left a message for her to call me back and i hope to get to the bottom of her resentment.
thanks again!

I also have a problem with the word resentment.

"resentment"???!! Is Donna truly this clueless or this much of a bitch? Good Lord.

ETA: Donna was posting same time I was. I am hoping Donna realizes she needs to choose her words more carefully and she will indeed refund Sharon her total amount.

I think by using the word "resentment" she is trying to ride the fence and stay nuetral...in this situation....not the thing to do

I hope she does the right thing.

OP...I can't even imagine being in your situation. I hope everything goes well on Tuesday and you kick the cancer to the curb.

I am glad to see that Donna has both read and responded (although a poor choice of words at first, it seems she has changed that, too.) It's a good thing she's aware of the power of peas!

Wish you the best!

Well, she's certainly professional and *kind hearted*. WTH type of response is THAT?

I'm shaking my head at the use of the word "resentment".

You are not the only one. I've never been so glad to have given up scrapping years ago. IF I ever start up again, I will so avoid anything Donna Downey related. You can bet your Brazill on that.

Pe@ce, I am sorry this is happening to you on top of everything else. Sometimes, when life is hitting you so hard, little things mean the most (although I do not consider this little). Ms. Downey and Inspired should be ashamed of themselves. As for that response from the forum you posted earlier? I fear my blood pressure will rise to dangerous levels if I try to address that now so I will just ditto what everyone else said.

{{Hugs}} for you and I hope your surgery on Tuesday is a complete success. I will keep you in my thoughts.

I'll admit to being a huge, huge cynic in this type of situation but...

if she has "stepped away from the internet" how exactly did she respond so quickly once the issue was posted for all the world to see? It really looks like a CYA move and not genuine concern that should have been in place from the beginning. The whole thing is sad.

OP, I hope you get a resolution that you really are happy with regarding this, and wish you good luck and prayers on your surgery.

Lots of healing prayers and throughts sent your way. I hope that Donna takes care of things quickly so you can relax and get through your surgery and on to quick healing.

I was thinking of attending a DD workshop that one of the LSS is having and until I hear good results I'm putting it on hold.

Is it safe to assume there is some sort of refund or compensation being issued? Because in pe@ce's update, she mentions "the money has been spent" . . .

At any rate, behold the power of the Peas, in all of it's awesomeness.

Her explanation is ridiculous, to me. They spent ALL the money they got? They make NO profit at all? And how does that prevent you from selling your spot? Good business practice would dictate bending the non-transferable rule in this case or refunding your money. Then again, SB business/good business practice do not go hand in hand. You have been treated very poorly.

OK. Newbie. This is how it works. If your post consists of 80% sanity, 10% stupidity and 10% all kinds of crazy, we immediately focus on the 20% b/c it discredits the 80%.

I'm thinking (hoping!!) "something" was done-- refund, allowing someone else to go, but DD probably asked Sharon not to mention it because other people might want an exception, too. ?????

Being silent about it isn't going to work here, though. Too many people invested on the outcome and wanting to see that Sharon was taken care of.

yeah, so teachers are paid and all that jazz. There's still profit in there somewhere, this isn't being done altruistically. And that still doesn't explain why she couldn't sell her spot. She wouldn't be taking any money away from the company, she'd simply be recouping her own funds. Funds they could probably use to deal with her medical costs right now.

Man, people really can suck the big one.

business, schmizness... if you think this is going to do anything to help your business, you are sadly mistaken. So did you refund her money, or did you allow her to sell her spot?? WHICH IS IT??

and realistically, I think I should just take the kits and be done.

I cried today like a baby. Sobbed over this stupid thing. I've been dealing with PET scans and MRIs and CT scans and NONE of that got to me. I think I just let it all come to a head over this. I am not a confrontational person. My stress level is ridiculous right now.

The POLICY doesn't explain why you can't gift your ticket to someone else. That POLICY wouldn't then affect whether their money has been spent or not. I REALLY hope that the update on page 1 isn't the FINAL update from DD, cuz seriously, she has no idea of my RESENTMENT when I stop purchasing.

Ms. D needs to go talk to Ms. Julian and asked how her fiasco turned out after a lot of us boycotted products affiliated with her. She also needs to look at the freaking economy, take a big step up and do the right thing. Resentment? You betcha.

Resentment? You betcha.

please update on why you cannot sell your ticket?

I cried today like a baby. Sobbed over this stupid thing.

I think it's the stress not this "stupid thing" doing it. I understand why they can't just refund 100% anyone who asks at anytime but it seems that isn't even what you are asking for. Take care of you and let the Universe take care of this whole mess.

Seriously? I've spent more than my fair share of money purchasing supplies and attending events. I cannot IMAGINE that a scrapbooking company would find it good policy to not allow you to have someone else attend in your place. Heck, I've sold a CKU ticket in the past when I couldn't attend. Somehow, Donna's event is too good for that? That TOTALLY pisses me off.
